John Francis 'Snooks' Worley of Tiftonia died Friday, May 14, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 78.

Arrangements will be announced by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

Clarence Manning
PISGAH - Clarence Howard Manning died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at his home. He was 76.

Survivors include a son, Clarence Manning Jr., Pisgah; brother, Floyd Manning, Section, Ala.; two sisters, Willie Whitehead, Scottsboro, Ala., and Earleene Pace, Dutton, Ala.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. CDT at Kerby Funeral Home with the Rev. David Moore officiating.

Burial will be in Fuller cemetery in Ider, Ala.

Hazel Bradley
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Hazel Betty Bradley died Thursday, April 1, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 76.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church in Otto, with the Rev. Michael Henderson officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Arrangements are by Fike Funeral Home.

Jiles Buchanan
ENGLEWOOD, Tenn. - Jiles C. Buchanan died Thursday, April 1, 1999, at his home. He was 82.

He was a member of Macedonia Church of Christ and was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Lou Jack Buchanan.

Survivors include three daughters, Ruby Smith, Etowah, Betty Millsaps and Wanda McDaniel, Englewood; a son, Wayne Buchanan, Englewood; brother, Moses Buchanan, Englewood; 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Church of Christ with minister Jack Stamper officiating.

Burial will be in Macedonia cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Bordwine Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church.

William Cate
ATHENS, Tenn. - William Howard Cate died Thursday, April 1, 1999, in an area nursing home. He was 80.

Mr. Cate, a lifelong resident of McMinn County, was a retired certified public accountant and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Hugh L. Hooker officiating.

Burial will be in McMinn Memory Gardens with full military honors.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Ziegler Funeral Home.

Clyde Collier
PIKEVILLE, Tenn. - Clyde Collier died Wednesday, March 31, 1999, in a Chattanooga hospital. He was 79.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Putnam-Reed Funeral Home with ministers Jim Mack Fouts and Bobby Collier officiating.

Burial will be in Blackburn cemetery.

Margaret Dooly
CONASAUGA, Tenn. - Margaret Bell Dooly died Tuesday, March 30, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 62.

She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mildred G. Bell and was a member of Benton United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Weyman I. Dooly Jr.; a sister, Linda B. Fannin, Cleveland; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the North Chapel of Buckner-Rush Funeral Home with the Rev. Cal Maas officiating.

Burial will be in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens .

Memorial contributions may be made to the Siskin Foundation, P.O. Box 365, Chattanooga, TN 37401.

Katheryn Green
ETOWAH, Tenn. - Katheryn Bates Green died Thursday, April 1, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 73.

Mrs. Green, a native of Lynch, Ky., was a resident of McMinn County most of her life and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Porter Green, Etowah; two sons, Roger Green, Etowah, and Jack Young, Anchorage, Alaska; five sisters, Agnes Young, Anna Ruth Bates, Inez Ballew and Alice Hunt, all of Etowah, and Betty Burris, Charleston, Tenn.

Services will be Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Wendell Puett and Ken Keaton officiating.

Burial will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in New Bethel cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Charles Hickey SPRING CITY, Tenn. - Charles William Hickey died Friday, April 2, 1999, at his home. He was 67.

Arrangements will be announced by M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home, Athens.

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - John R. 'Bull Rush' Hughes died Thursday, April 1, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 98.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Sears officiating.

Burial will be at Mount Olive cemetery.

George Layne
WHITWELL, Tenn. - George Prince Layne died Thursday, April 1, 1999, in a Chattanooga hospital. He was 84.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Basham and the Rev. James Ramsey officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Hill cemetery.

Harold Moses
ATHENS, Tenn. - Harold Moses died Friday, April 2, 1999, in an area life care center. He was 80.

Mr. Moses was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Logan Moses.

He was an electrician with Martin Marietta in Oak Ridge for 33 years until his retirement. He was a member and former worshipful master of Meridian Sun Lodge 50 F&AM;, the York Rite Bodies and Alhambra Shrine Temple of Chattanooga.

Survivors include his wife, Irene H. Moses; two daughters, Linda Martin, Etowah, and Sherry Long, Johnson City, Tenn.; a son, Charles Moses, Athens; sister, Audrey Rubin, Panama City Beach, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Tina Barner, Seattle, Wash., and Dale Goldman, Athens; four grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.

A masonic service by Meridian Sun Lodge 50 F&AM; will be held Monday at 8 p.m. at Jerry Smith Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow with the Rev. Ashley Calhoun and the Rev. Steve Galyon officiating.

Burial will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Cedar Grove cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 6925 Shallowford Road, Suite 305, Chattanooga, TN 37421.

TRACY CITY, Tenn. - Nina Ann Parsons died Thursday, April 1, 1999, at her home. She was 48.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Cumberland Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Gipson and others officiating.

Burial will be in Hobbs Hill cemetery.

SPRING CITY, Tenn. - Levolia 'Jack' Perkins died Sunday, March 28, 1999, in a Chattanooga hospital. He was 80.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Vaughn Funeral Home with the Rev. James Guthrie officiating.

Burial will be in Petersburg cemetery in Spring City.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Charles Scruggs
SWEETWATER, Tenn. - Charles O. Scruggs died Saturday, March 27, 1999, at his home. He was 54.

Arrangements will be announced by M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home.

James Simpson
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - James W. Simpson Jr. died Wednesday, March 31, 1999, in a Chattanooga hospital.

Mr. Simpson was formerly of Chattanooga and worked as a supervisor for Management Cleaning Controls and Southeast Service Co.

He attended Fellowship of Praise Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Morris Simpson; parents, James and Ida Mae Simpson Sr., Chattanooga; three daughters, Joy and Jacobia Simpson, both of Chattanooga, and Ebony McDermott, Harrison; two sons, LaDarion Simpson, Chattanooga, and Robbie G. Carroll, Palatine, Ill.; three brothers, Aundra, Gregory and Daryl Simpson, all of Chattanooga; and two grandchildren.

Services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Fellowship of Praise Church of God with pastor Jerry Wate officiating.

Burial will be n Greenwood cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Samuel Thomas
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Samuel Thomas died Thursday, April 1, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 89.

Arrangements will be announced by Grissom Funeral Home.

Alvin Benton
CLEVELAND - Alvin Perry Benton died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at his home. He was 64.

He was a member of Christian Fellowship Center in Cleveland. He was a son of the late Roy and Edna Benton and the brother of the late Curtis Benton.

Survivors include two sisters, Lolarhee Loving and Helen Piersaul; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be today at 7:30 p.m. at M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home with pastor Timothy Purifory and pastor Martha Tibbs officiating.

Burial will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Fort Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.
