Survivors include his son, Jimmie Silvers Jr., Atlanta; a sister, Ethel Jean Silvers; two brothers, Columbus and Frederick Silvers, Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be Thursday at noon in Highland Memorial Gardens with Ernest Jefferson officiating.

Adam Arnold
SOUTH PITTSBURG, Tenn. - Adam Paul Arnold died Monday, April 5, 1999, of injuries from a motorcycle accident. He was 20.
He was a student at Chattanooga State, a former student at South Pittsburg High School and a graduate of Lebanon (Pa.) High School.
Survivors include his parents, Pal M. Arnold, Lebanon, Pa., and Penny B. Arnold, South Pittsburg; sister, Sequita Davis, New Hope, Tenn.; stepbrother, Arron; stepsister, Angie; and grandparents, Roy Blevins, Jasper, Tenn., Fran Collins, South Pittsburg, and Myrtle Arnold, Lebanon.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. CDT at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in South Pittsburg with the Rev. Mike Creson officiating.
Burial will be in Rocky Springs cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ballard Ball
ATHENS, Tenn. - Ballard Eugene Ball died Sunday, April 4, 1999. He was 81.
Mr. Ball, a native of McMinn County, was the owner and operator of Ball's Esso Station in Sweetwater for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Crittenden Ball; a daughter, Shirley Ball, Oak Ridge, Tenn.; son, Mike Ball, Athens; two sisters, Algie Allmon, Philadelphia, Pa., and Demarish Walker, Chattanooga; and a granddaughter.
The funeral was Tuesday at East Athens Baptist Church with the Rev. Pete Mullins officiating.
Burial was in New Zion cemetery.

Arnold Billingsley
WHITWELL, Tenn. - Arnold C. Billingsley died Monday, April 5, 1999. He was 77.
Mr. Billingsley was a retired truck operator and a coal miner.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and worked for Fleet Transport for 24 years. He was a veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by a son, Chester Billingsley.
Survivors include his wife, Adelyne Tate Billingsley; daughter, Patricia B. Barber, Chattanooga; sister, Electa Taylor, Jasper; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. CDT at Hooper Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Lassiter officiating.
Burial will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.

Marilyn Davis DUCKTOWN, Tenn. - Marilyn 'Ginny' Davis died Sunday, April 4, 1999, in an Atlanta hospital. She was 72.

Maynard Dexter
ATHENS, Tenn. - Maynard L. Dexter died Monday, April 5, 1999, at Woods Memorial Hospital. He was 68.
Mr. Dexter retired from Vulcan Materials after 26 years there and was co-owner of The Earth Yard.
He was a native of Milanville, Pa.; a former resident of Sparta, N.J.; and a member of Allen Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Woodworth Dexter; two sons, Darryl and Jim Dexter, both of Athens; three daughters, Valerie Balthazar, Edmond, Okla., Karen Ezzo, Stroudsburgh, Pa., and Jan Watson, Winston-Salem, N.C.; stepbrother, John Marshall, Honesdale, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Ogle Wattenbarger and the Rev. Greg Hutsell officiating.
Burial will be in McMinn Memory Gardens.

CLINTON, Tenn. - Troy Albert Elliott died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at his home. He was 83.
Mr. Elliott was a self-employed farmer and a member of Clinch River Baptist Church.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Elliott, and a son, David Elliott.
Survivors include two daughters, Juanita Harness and Evelyn Mincey, both of Cleveland, Tenn.; three sons, Mackie Elliott, Etowah, Tenn., Ferland Elliott, Kingston, Tenn., and Steve Elliott, Clinton; four sisters, Lillian Miller, Lake City, Linus Cook and Ruby Powers, both of Clinton, and Cora Lee Hutchison, Lakeland, Fla.

He attended St. Bridgets Catholic Church and was preceded in death by his father, Willie Hatfield, and a brother, Will G.B. Hatfield.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia J. Hatfield; two daughters, Lecia G. Jones, Clinton, Tenn., and Carol D. Foust, Lake City, Tenn.; a son, Will G.B. Hatfield, Claxton, Tenn.; mother, Alfea Brown, Dunlap, Tenn.; three sisters, Linda Fay Doss, Nancey Brown and Zora Etta Brown, all of Dunlap; four brothers, John E., Wilbert and Norman Hatfield and Mitchell T. Brown, all of Dunlap; and eight grandchildren.

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Eula Rose Pirkle Hobbs died Monday, April 5, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 83.
She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Cleveland, where she was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class.
She was the widow of R.L. Hobbs.
Survivors include two daughters, Martha Stuman and Nancy Torchick, Cleveland; three sisters, Thelma Phillips, Cleveland, and Virgiia Elder and Helen Pirkle, both of Decatur, Tenn.; a brother, E.A. Pirkle Jr., Mount Vernon, Wash.; and two grandchildren.
