Roger Soloman
DAYTON - Roger Allen Soloman died Monday, May 10, 1999, in Dayton. He was 58.

Mr. Soloman attended East Tennessee State University before pursuing his love for music. He was an avid musician and songwriter.

He was a minister of music and youth minister for 27 years. He was minister of music and youth at Prospect Baptist Church in Lenoir City, Tenn., at the time of his death. He worked with the National Association of Christian Athletes and Fort Bluff Camp in Dayton, and was also doing music evangelism and mission work.

He had served as youth minister and minister of music at many churches in Tennessee and Florida.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Salamon.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Soloman; daughter, Tina Hutchison, Nashville; his mother, Pauline Solomon Soyars, Kingsport, Tenn.; a sister, Freda Fleenor, Kingsport; and three grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Lenoir City, Tenn., with Dr. Charles Harris and other ministers officiating.

Burial will be Friday at 3 p.m. in East Lawn Memorial Park in Kingsport with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to N.A.C.A. Fort Bluff Camp, 370 Fort Bluff Camp Road, Dayton, TN 37321, for a camp scholarship.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City.

Mildred Teague
CLEVELAND - Mildred I. Teague died Saturday, May 8, 1999, at her home. She was 75.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home in Cleveland with the Rev. Beecher White and the Rev. Randall Headrick officiating.

Burial will be in Double Springs Baptist Church cemetery.

Ray Whaley Jr.
CLEVELAND - A memorial service for Ray Whaley Jr. will be Sunday, May 16, 1999, at 3 p.m. in the Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery, Cleveland, with the Rev. Lloyd E. Bone officiating.

Mr. Whaley died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, in Naples, Fla., where he had made his home for the past several years.

Bessie Harrison
FLAT ROCK - Bessie Nellie Harrison died Sunday, May 9, 1999, at her home. She was 80.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. CDT at Kerby Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrell Sears officiating.

Burial will be in Beulah Chapel cemetery.

Brandi Martin PISGAH - Brandi Lea Martin died Sunday, May 9, 1999, in Opelika, Ala. She was 21.

She was the granddaughter of the late Kenneth R. Hall, Louise Hakes and Oran Brown.

Survivors include her husband, Timothy Martin; two sons, Dustin Tyler Martin and Timothy Dakota Martin, both of Pisgah; grandmother, Geneva Jo Hall; three brothers, Edwin K., Larry Dale and Eric Wade Brown, all of Pisgah.

Services will be today at 4 p.m. at Kerby Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Patterson officiating.

Burial will be in Green Haven Memorial Gardens, Henagar, Ala.

Robert Robinson
GUNTERSVILLE - Robert Robinson, formerly of Fyffe, Ala., died Sunday, May 9, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 55.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Varnell Robinson, and his mother and stepfather, Donna Beatrice Coward Robinson Morrison and J.C. Morrison.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Allen Robinson; daughter, Jane Allen, Opelika, Ala.; a son, Scott A. Robinson, Vienna, Va.; and a sister, Linda Daniels, Horn Lake, Miss.

Services will be today at 11 a.m. at W.T. Wilson Funeral Home in Rainsville, Ala.

Burial will be in New Home cemetery in Fyffe.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Addie M. Mize died Sunday, May 9, 1999, in Jacksonville. She was 95.

She was born in Pikeville, Tenn., and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Chattanooga.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex R. Mize; and four children, Ronald D. Mize, Betty Rodgers, Bonnie Kelly and W.M. Short.

Survivors include four daughters, Patricia Johnson, Jacksonville, Barbara Roberson, Tampa, Fla., Toni Houts, Chattanooga, and Linda Bidwell, Soddy-Daisy; two sons, Barney Warren, Chattanooga, and Ronnie A. Mize, Lufkin, Texas; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North, with the Rev. James Millard officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4030 Boulevard Center Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32207-4791.

Gussie Peacock
FRANKLINVILLE, N.C. - Gussie Mae Peacock died Monday, May 10, 1999, in a nursing home in North Carolina. She was 93.

Formerly of Bridgeport, Ala., she graduated from Bridgeport High School and held a B.S. degree and a master's degree from Florence State College.

Miss Peacock was a teacher in Bridgeport for 42 years and attended the Methodist church there.

Survivors include a sister, Betty Clark, Franklinville; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. CDT at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, Ala.

Burial will be in Rocky Springs cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bridgeport Historical Association, P.O. Box 949, Bridgeport, AL 35740.

Helen Soloman
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Helen Merrill Soloman, a native of Chattanooga, died Sunday, May 9, 1999, at the Holmesdale Nursing Home in Kansas City. She was 98.

Survivors include three brothers, David Merrill, Dallas, Louis J. Solomon, New York City, and George Soloman, Kansas City; and four grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be said Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with the Rev. Mike Nolan officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.

Arrangements are by Chattanooga Funeral Home, East.

Amanda Baker
McMINNVILLE - Amanda Hillis Baker died Monday, April 26, 1999. She was 83.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Love-Cantrell & Cope Funeral Home with Lofton Graves officiating.

Burial will be in Town cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 8 a.m. until the time of service.

Cody Bandy
CLEVELAND - Cody Ryan Bandy, infant son of Timothy Reece and Bobbie Cates Bandy, died Monday, April 26, 1999, in a Chattanooga hospital.

Other survivors include his grandparents, Joseph and Violet Cates, and Geraldine Isham, Rockwood, Tenn.; great-grandparents, Ed and Georgia Burton, Birchwood.

A graveside service will be today at 5 p.m. in Rhea Memory Gardens, Dayton, Tenn.

Ruby Brown
ATHENS - Ruby Miller Brown, a Monroe County native, died Sunday, April 25, 1999, in an area life care facility. She was 75.

Survivors include one daughter, Cecilia Jack, Englewood, Tenn.; two sons, Charles C. Brown, Athens, and Gary C. Brown, Chattanooga; three sisters, Ann Gibbs, Knoxville, Lola McJunkins, and Tommie Huskey, all of Philadelphia, Tenn.; one brother, Ralph Miller, Etowah, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be today at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Michael Doty officiating.

The body has been cremated.

Memorial contributions may be made to McMinn Regional Humane Society, 219 Alford St., Athens, TN 37303.

Arrangements are by Jerry Smith Funeral Home, Athens.

George Duncan
WALLAND - George Richard Duncan died Monday, April 26, 1999, in a Blount County hospital. He was 72.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy G. Duncan, and his parents, Earl and Annie Lillard Duncan.

Survivors include six cousins and two aunts, all of this area.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. W.J. Woody officiating.

Burial will be in Benton cemetery.

Visitation will be today from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Nellie Evans
ATHENS - Nellie Evans died Sunday, April 25, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 77.

Arrangements will be announced by M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home in Athens.

Benny Holden
DAYTON - Benny Royce Holden died Sunday, April 25, 1999, in Rhea Medical Center. He was 63.

Services will be today at 3 p.m. in Rhea Memory Gardens with the Rev. Ronnie Torbett officiating.

Arrangements are by Vanderwall Funeral Home, Dayton.

Wilbur Hopper
MARYVILLE - Wilbur L. Hopper died Monday, April 26, 1999, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was 86.

Mr. Hopper was retired after serving as a funeral director and embalmer for many years at Miller Funeral Home. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Maryville and Andersonville (Tenn.) Masonic lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Iva Babcock Hopper; a son, Dr. Barry Hopper, Bristol, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. James Green officiating.

Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.

Fred Jackson
ETOWAH - Fred M. Jackson died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 89.

Arrangements will be announced by M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home, Athens, Tenn.

Gladys Lambert
ETOWAH - Gladys Evelyn Long Lambert died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 97.

She was a member of Athens Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and was the widow of Cecil A. Lambert.

Survivors include a son, Robert Lambert Sr.; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

There will be no service or visitation at Bordwine Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
