Leland Murray
BENTON - Leland Eugene Murray died Saturday, April 24, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 66.

Mr. Murray was the son of the late Eugene and Carl Fellers Murray and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Mary Mason Murray; a son, Eldon Murray, Florida; four daughters, Dory Staton, Benton, Melinda Murray, Florida, Angela Maubach, Illinois, and Rosanna Hunter, Florida; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The body was cremated and there will be no service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Association, 519 E. Fourth St., Chattanooga, TN 37403.

Arrangements are by Higgins Funeral Home, Benton.

Edward Newton
TRACY CITY - Edward 'Bud' Newton died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, in a Winchester, Tenn., hospital. He was 91.

Mr. Newton had lived in Grundy County since 1968. He was retired from the Los Angeles Police Department after 25 years of service, including working as a detective lieutenant in homicide.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and was a 50-year Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Marie Newton; daughter, Patricia Kildgore, Tracy City; two brothers, Clifton Newton, Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Lucky Newton, Los Angeles; a sister, Bernice Juleson, Sedona, Ala.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service was held.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grundy County Emergency Medical Services, P.O. Box 327, Coalmont, TN 37313.

Arrangements are by Cumberland Funeral Home, Monteagle, Tenn.

Howard Nunley
WHITWELL - Howard Nunley died Monday, April 26, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 61.

Arrangements will be announced by Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home.

Hubert Pruitt
SEQUATCHIE - Hubert W. Pruitt died Sunday, April 25, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 80.

Mr. Pruitt was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church of Stevenson, Ala., and was the widower of Ruby Pruitt.

Survivors include six sons, James R., Edwin and Fred Pruitt, all of Sequatchie Mountain, Wayne Pruitt, Jasper, Tenn., Billy Pruitt, Cedar Grove, Tenn., and Johnny Pruitt, Section, Ala.; a daughter, Theresa Lewis, Jasper; 24 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. George Warr and the Rev. John Gamble officiating.

Burial will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be today from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Nellie Ruder
CLEVELAND - Nellie Ruder died Sunday, April 25, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 78.

She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church and the widow of Richard Ruder.

Survivors include two daughters, Crystal Sweeton, Cleveland, and Carol Lobstein, Shelby Township, Mich.; a brother, Herbert Hill, Florida; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

There will be no service or visitation at the Wildwood Chapel of Buckner-Rush Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements

Iowa Womac
ATHENS - Iowa T. Bledsoe Womac died Sunday, April 25, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 74.

Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Torbett and the Rev. Kenneth Charles officiating.

Burial will be in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Alma Womack
McMINNVILLE - Alma Virgie Womack died Sunday, April 25, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 84.

She was the mother of the late James L. Womack, a homemaker and a member of Central Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Campbell, McMinnville, and Wanda Cope, Tullahoma, Tenn.; two sisters, Doshie Martin and Jennie Schrock, both of Chattanooga; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be today at 3 p.m. at High's Funeral Home with Jim Gammon officiating.

Burial will be in Mountain View cemetery.

Visitation will be today until the time of service at the funeral home.

James Womack
CLEVELAND - James Edwin 'Doc' Womack died Saturday, April 24, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 72.

A graveside service will be held today at 2 p.m. at Chestuee United Methodist Church cemetery with the Rev. Wade Bell, the Rev. Ben Roberson and the Rev. Charles Copeland officiating.

Arrangements are by Grissom Funeral Home, Cleveland.

Dorothy Silvey
SAN MATEO, Fla. - Dorothy Marie Silvey died Friday, April 9, 1999, in a health care facility in San Mateo. She was 85.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Carl Silvey.

Survivors include two daughters, Dana Quinn, Cambridge, Mass., and Terry Wooden, East Ridge; and three grandchildren.

A graveside service will be Sunday at 1 p.m. in Salem cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Southern Crematory, San Mateo, Fla.

Minnie Bates
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Minnie McGowan Bates died Tuesday, March 30, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 79.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Blythe Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Allen Lovelace and other ministers officiating.

Burial will be in Fort Hill cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Wildwood Chapel of Buckner-Rush Funeral Home.

Hazel Bradley
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Hazel Betty Bradley died Thursday, April 1, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 76.

She worked for the Cleveland Daily Banner for 22 years and had been affiliated with Renner Realty since 1979.

Survivors include three sisters, Josephine Dowdle, Asheville, N.C., Lotus Plott, Kodak, Tenn., and Rose Stiles, Otto, N.N.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church in Otto, with the Rev. Michael Henderson officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 7 p.m. at Fike Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church.

H.B. Calhoun
ETOWAH, Tenn. - H.B. Calhoun Jr. died Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at his home. He was 74.

The body has been cremated.

There will be no formal visitation or funeral service.

Arrangements are by Bordwine Funeral Home, Etowah.

Clyde Collier
PIKEVILLE, Tenn. - Clyde Collier died Wednesday, March 31, 1999, in a Chattanooga hospital. He was 79.

He was a member of Wheeler Hill Church of Christ and a veteran of World War II, serving with the 8th Army Air Corps 306 Bomber Group.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta Hale Collier; a daughter, Brenda Moore; two sons, Bobby and Ronny Collier, all of Pikeville; two sisters, Alice Humble, Dayton, Ohio, and Frances Plummer, Nashville; a brother, Glenn Collier, Pikeville; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Putnam-Reed Funeral Home with ministers Jim Mack Fouts and Bobby Collier officiating.

Burial will be in Blackburn cemetery.

Norman Cunningham
SPRING CITY, Tenn. - Norman Dock Cunningham died Tuesday, March 30, 1999, at his home. He was 49.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at St. Clair Baptist Church with the Rev. Jake Fisher officiating.

Burial will be in Spring City cemetery with a Masonic service.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Clair Baptist Church, c/o Bible Fund, 304 Rocky Springs Road, Spring City, TN 37381.

Arrangements are by Vaughn Funeral Home, Spring City.

Bertha Dykes
TRACY CITY, Tenn. - Bertha Jean Dykes died Wednesday, March 31, 1999, in Emerald-Hodgson Hospital in Sewanee, Tenn.

She was a native of Sherwood, Tenn., a Methodist and the widow of Earl Dykes.

There are no immediate survivors.

A graveside service will be Saturday at noon in Orange Hill cemetery with the Rev. Frank Blair officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Cumberland Funeral Home, Tracy City.

Katy Hamilton
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Katy Standridge Hamilton died Tuesday, March 30, 1999, in an area health care facility. She was 83.

Mrs. Hamilton was a homemaker, an attendance director for the Dalton Public School and the widow of Joseph Kirby Hamilton.

She was a member of Dalton First Presbyterian Church and was active in the Women of the Church and the Lenna Judd Women's Club. She was also a regular volunteer at Hamilton Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include two sons, Kirby and Stan Hamilton, Cookeville; a sister, Ruth S. Murphy, Byromville, Ga.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. EST at Westhill cemetery in Dalton with the Rev. Jim Holderness officiating.

Arrangements are by Hooper & Huddleston Funeral Home, Cookeville.

Bonnie Harvey
DUNLAP, Tenn. - Bonnie Faye Harvey died Tuesday, March 30, 1999. She was 62.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. CST at Putnam-Standefer-Reed Funeral Home, Highway 28 South, with the Rev. Dennis Boston officiating.

Burial will be at Davis Chapel cemetery.
