Joseph Cofer
Joseph Arnold Cofer Sr. died Thursday, April 15, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 84.

He was a native of Sale Creek, a member of Spring Creek Road Baptist Church and the Harvester Sunday School Class.

He was retired from Signal Knitting Mills and was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Josephine W. Cofer.

Survivors include a son, Joseph A. 'Joe' Cofer Jr., Hixson; daughter, Laura Bean, East Ridge; brother, Frank Cofer, Hixson; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East, with the Rev. David Clay officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.

Beulah Conley
Beulah Conley died Friday, April 16, 1999, in a local nursing home. She was 93.

Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Lucille Dossett
Lucille J. Dossett died Friday, April 9, 1999, at a local health care facility. She was 92.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. at the Greater Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Chaney Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.

The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Arrangements are by the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Charles Giles
Charles Walker Giles died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 84.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East, with the Rev. Jimmy Hixson officiating.

Burial will be in Chestua cemetery in Madisonville, Tenn.

Dorothy Glover
Dorothy Glover died Monday, April 12, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 65.

Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Earl Hines
Earl Hines died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, in a Jasper, Tenn., nursing home. He was 70.

Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold K. Lester officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.

Betty Jenkins
Betty W. Jenkins of Hixson died Monday, April 12, 1999, in Silver Springs, Fla. She was 62.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North, with the Rev. Barry Kidwell officiating.

Edward Lorenz Edward Timothy Lorenz died Friday, April 16, 1999, in a local hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.

Laura McDaniel
Laura P. McDaniel died Thursday, April 15, 1999, in a local nursing home. She was 88.

A graveside service will be today at 11 a.m. in New McDonald cemetery with the Rev. C. Henry Preston officiating.

Arrangements are by the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Stratford House Activity Department, 8249 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.

Aline McNamara
Aline McDowell McNamara died Friday, April 16, 1999, in a local health care facility. She was 82.

She was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and was the retired longtime owner of the Lynmac Motel on Cummings Highway.

She was a Baptist and the widow of Walter D. McNamara.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan McNamara Vaughn, Woodstock, Ga.; son, Gary W. McNamara, Blairsville, Ga.; and a granddaughter.

A graveside service will be Sunday at 3 p.m. in Chattanooga Memorial Park with Dr. John Franklin officiating.

Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

William Miller
William Gerald Miller of Hixson died Thursday, April 15, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 75.

He was a longtime resident of Hixson and a pilot with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis V. Miller; daughter, Patrice Gallagher, Memphis, a son, Michael Miller, Hixson; and two grandchildren.

There will be no service or visitation at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North, which is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.

Samuel Moorer
The Rev. Samuel Moorer Sr. of Chattanooga died Saturday, April 10, 1999, in a Sewanee, Tenn., hospital. He was 72.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with the Rev. Alonzo Rodgers officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.

Linda Moss
Linda Moss died Tuesday, April 13, 1999. She was 47.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Highland cemetery.

Chester Parrott
Chester Lee Parrott of Soddy-Daisy died Thursday, April 15, 1999, in a local health care facility. He was 71.

Mr. Parrott was a carpenter and was the father of the late Warren Parrott.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Parrott; three daughters, Shirley Back and Barbara Corfitzson, both of Soddy-Daisy; and Debborah Fox, Sale Creek; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be today at 1 p.m. in Poe cemetery with the Rev. Tom Goss and the Rev. Clip Suddeth officiating.

Janie Poe
Janie Ruth Poe of Apison died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 80.

Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Apison Baptist Church with the Rev. Gatus Cheatham and the Rev. Richard Blalock officiating.

Burial will be in Plowman cemetery.

Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.

Louis Powell
Louis E. 'Bit' Powell of Hixson died Friday, April 16, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 68.

Arrangements will be announced by Sequatchie Valley Memorial Funeral Home, Jasper, Tenn.

Pauline St. Clair
Pauline J. St. Clair died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at her home. She was 65.

Arrangements will be announced by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends today after 11 a.m.

Ralph Thomas
Ralph P. Thomas died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, in a local nursing home.

Arrangements will be announced by the Trammell Chapel of Hardwick & Sons Funeral Home.

Carrie Thompson
Carrie Ann Noebel Thompson of East Brainerd died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at her home. She was 40.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Pat Davis officiating.

Burial will be in LaFayette Memory Gardens.

Lois Tobey
Lois H. Tobey died Monday, April 12, 1999, at her home. She was 67.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Tyner United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harold Ray and the Rev. Charles Arms officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

Walter Turner
Walter LaDarius Turner died Monday, April 12, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 12.

He attended John P. Franklin Middle School. He was a member of the Boy's Club of Chattanooga and Lord House of Prayer Church.

Survivors include his mother, Cassandra Paris; father, Ronald L. Harris; three sisters, Rhonda Hollingsworth, Rhonda Harris and Dorothea Harris; two grandmothers, Yvonne Turner and Tondalaya Paris; great-grandmother, Dorothy Postell; great-great-grandmother, Eva Lou Stearns; several aunts and uncles.

Services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with pastor William Gaither officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hills cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

James West
James R. 'Buster' West died Thursday, April 15, 1999, in a V.A. hospital in Washington. He was 66.

Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Mattie Whitlow
Mattie Whitlow died Monday, April 12, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 85.

Services will be today at noon at New Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Allen officiating.

Burial will be in Floral Hills cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.
