Ruth Bolton
Ruth Lena Bolton of Red Bank died Monday, April 12, 1999.

Services will be today at 2:30 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North, with the Rev. Harold Buck and the Rev. Mike Hubble officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Richard Doss Richard Neely Doss died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 73.

Services will be today at 11:30 a.m. at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Ike Keay officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Lucille Dossett
Lucille J. Dossett died Friday, April 9, 1999, at a local health care facility. She was 92.

She was a member of Greater Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church and a retiree from Erlanger Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Dossett Sr.

Survivors include three daughters, Catherine Turner, Rosalee Rollen and Dorothy Preston, all of Chattanooga; a son, Richard Dossett Jr.; sister, Mardell White, Chattanooga; several grandchildren, great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Greater Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Chaney Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.

The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Arrangements are by the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Flora Foster
Flora Foster died Sunday, April 11, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 64.

Survivors include five sons, Frank, Carl E. and Ronnie Moore, and Jeff L. Roach, all of Chattanooga, and Billy Williams, Savannah, Ga.; a daughter, Angela Moore; sister, Hester A. Moore, all of Chattanooga; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be today at noon at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Adams officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.

Charles Giles
Charles Walker Giles died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 84.

Mr. Giles, a native of Vonore, Tenn., was preceded in death by his wife, Leota Grace Giles, and a son, Loyd Giles.

Survivors include four daughters, Dorothy McAllister, Chattanooga, Joann Kessler, Sylvania, Ala., Nancy Hart, Ider, Ala., and Karen Smith, Flat Rock, Ala.; five sons, Charles Giles, Rising Fawn, Ga., Ted Giles, Flat Rock, Larry and Billy Giles, both of Ider, and Michael Giles, Augusta, Fla.; three brothers, Rex Giles, Trenton, Ga., Earl Giles, Flat Rock, and James A. Giles, Hixson; three sisters, Elizabeth Griffith, Mary Shaffer and Geraldine Chambers, all of Chattanooga; half brothers, Henry Giles, Flat Rock, Marshall Giles, Trenton, and Gary Giles, Chattanooga; half sisters, Sue Williams, Rising Fawn, Faye Young and Darlene West, both of Flat Rock; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East, with the Rev. Jimmy Hixson officiating.

Burial will be in Chestua cemetery in Madisonville, Tenn.

The family will receive friends today from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dorothy Glover
Dorothy Glover died Monday, April 12, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 65.

Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Lee Goodloe
Lee Goodloe died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, in a local health care facility. He was 90.

Mr. Goodlow was an employee of TVA Railroad and retired from the Electric Power Board. He was a mason and a member of the Greater Friendship Primitive Baptist Church, where he was a former member of the choir and was on the board of trustees.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Goodloe; son, Arthur Goodloe, Chattanooga; five sisters, Mary Long, Tuscumbia, Ala., Bernice Ward, Cairo, Ill., Ella Goodloe, Florence, Ala., Mildred Thompson and Millie B. Goodloe, both of Cherokee, Ala.; one grandson; and one great-grandson.

Services will be today at 7 p.m. at Greater Friendship Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. James Penny officiating.

Burial will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Leighton, Ala.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 7 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements are by the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Earl Hines
Earl Hines died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, in a Jasper, Tenn., nursing home. He was 70.

He was a member of Orchard Knob Baptist Church.

Survivors include a brother, Robert Hines, Huntsville, and a sister, Gladys Jarrell Odom, Chattanooga.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold K. Lester officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.

Betty Jenkins
Betty W. Jenkins of Hixson died Monday, April 12, 1999, in Silver Springs, Fla. She was 62.

She was a longtime resident of the Hixson area and a member of the Obedience Club of Chattanooga.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Jenkins, and a grandson, Jody Burney.

Survivors include her husband, James 'Turtle' Jenkins; daughter, Vicky J. Burney, Hixson; son, James Leonard Jenkins, Morristown, Tenn.; three brothers, Bobby Wilson, Beverly Hills, Fla., Billy Wilson, Wildwood, Ga., and Bruce Wilson, Hixson; four sisters, Barbara Silver, Sand Mountain, Ala., Bonita Hill, Springerville, Ariz., Belinda Laney, Nashville, and Betina Wilson, Hixson; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North, with the Rev. Barry Kidwell officiating.

Wesley Keele
Wesley W. Keele of Collegedale died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 83.

Mr. Keele, a native of Cedar Grove, Tenn., had lived in Pendleton, Ore., Valdosta, Ga., and Candler, N.C.

He was a veteran of World War II, was retired from Harris of Pendleton and was a member of Collegedale Seventh-day Adventist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ella Keele.

Survivors include a son, Brian Keele, Harrison; two brothers, Arlie Keele, Collegedale, and Leslie Keele, Pendleton; two sisters, Archie Johnson, Pasco, Wash., and Ruth Lewis, Milton Freeweater, Ore.

A memorial service will be today at 10 a.m. at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 850 Fort Wood Place, Chattanooga, TN 37403, or M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 297153, Houston, TX 77297.

Laura McDaniel
Laura P. McDaniel died Thursday, April 15, 1999, in a local nursing home. She was 88.

The lifelong resident of Harrison was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School Class.

She was retired from Edix Upholstery and was the widow of Jesse William McDaniel.

Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Hartman and Barbara Dill, both of Harrison; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in New McDonald cemetery with the Rev. C. Henry Preston officiating.

The family will receive friends today from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Stratford House Activity Department, 8249 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.

Elbert McGregor
Elbert McGregor died Friday, April 9, 1999, at his home. He was 83.

Mr. McGregor was retired as a truck driver for Sealtest Foods and Kay's Ice Cream. He was a member and deacon at World Church of the Living God.

Survivors include five daughters, Betty Jo Asberry and E. Jean Willingham, both of Chattanooga, Mae Nell Williams and Jessie L. Freeman, both of Los Angeles, and Martha E. Brown, Southfield, Mich.; three brothers, Howard McGregor, Decatur, Ala., Roy McGregor, Ryler, Texas, and Henry McGregor, Cleveland, Ohio.

A graveside service will be today at 1 p.m. in Forest Hills cemetery with Bishop W.C. Hunter officiating.

Arrangements are by the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Samuel Moorer
The Rev. Samuel Moorer Sr. of Chattanooga died Saturday, April 10, 1999, in a Sewanee, Tenn., hospital. He was 72.

He was a former employee of Ross-Meehan Foundry and was retired from U.S. Pipe & Foundry.

He was the pastor of Macedonia FBH Church and was the manager of the Lighthouse Gospel Singers.

He was the father of the late Gail Maddox.

Survivors include his wife, Luddie E. Moorer; three sons, Samuel Moorer Jr. and Willie Moorer, both of Chattanooga, and Otis Moorer, Bloomington, Ind.; three daughters, Rosa Lavette, Houston, Texas, Joyce Hubbard and Annette Hart, both of Chattanooga; four brothers, Robert Moorer, Minter, Ala., Jessie Moorer, Chattanooga, Jimmie Moorer, Selma, Ala., and Joe Frank Moorer, Fort Pierce, Fla.; five sisters, Edna Hunter and Earsell Hall, both of Farmersville, Ala., Mattie Watters and Rosa Moorer, both of Minter, and Orella Oliver, Tampa, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with the Rev. Alonzo Rodgers officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.

Linda Moss
Linda Moss died Tuesday, April 13, 1999. She was 47.

She was a Baptist, a graduate of Riverside High School and manager of the Barbison Terrace Apartments.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Mae Howard, and her father, Melvin Campbell.

Survivors include her husband, Ivory Wayne Moss; two sons, Christopher Barnett and Corey Ronsaville; and two grandsons.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Highland cemetery.

Visitation will be after noon today at the funeral home.

Ralph Nance
Ralph Alton Nance died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 84.

A graveside service will be today at 1 p.m. at Chattanooga Memorial Park with the Rev. Harold Buck officiating.

Visitation will be today from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

Janie Poe
Janie Ruth Poe of Apison died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 80.

A longtime resident of Hamilton County, Mrs. Poe was a member of Apison Baptist Church. She was retired from the Baptist Children's Home and the Hamilton County Department of Transportation.

She had been a volunteer at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Toy lee Poe and a son, Toy Lee Poe Jr.

Survivors include one son, A.K. Poe, McDonald, Tenn.; sister, Mildred Fishback, Apison; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Apison Baptist Church with the Rev. Gatus Cheatham and the Rev. Richard Blalock officiating.

Burial will be in Plowman cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 5 to 9 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road, and one hour before the service at the church.
