Buford Gholston
PIKEVILLE, Tenn. - Buford Gholston died Sunday, March 7, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 77.

He was a member of West End Church of God, a veteran of World War II, and was retired from Excell Systems.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Gholston, and a grandson, Allen Henson.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy Henson; one son, Sam Gholston, both of Pikeville; one stepdaughter, Ouida L. Morelock, Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Richard Gholston and Sam Gholston Jr., both of Whitwell; six sisters, Dorothy Morrison, Whitwell, Katherine Denney, Atlanta, Pattie Ann Vandergriff, Rossville, Ruth Burgess, Ringgold, Ga., Christine Dawson, Chattanooga and Lois Cassell, Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. CST at West End Church of God with the Rev. Danny Lee officiating.

Burial will be in Humble cemetery.

Arrangements are by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, Pikeville.

April Dudley
WINCHESTER, Tenn. - April Dawn Dudley died Saturday, March 6, 1999, from injuries she sustained in an automobile accident. She was 20.

Survivors include her grandmother, Grace Moss, Sewanee, Tenn.; her mother Penny Bookmar, Tracy City, Tenn.; one sister, Crystal Henley, Shelbyville, Tenn.; one brother, Sam Henley; and a stepgrandfather, Adolphis Henley, both of Sewanee.

Services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at Jump Off Baptist Church in Sewanee, with brother Paul King officiating.

Burial was in Eastern Star cemetery.

Arrangements were made by Watson-Gamble Funeral Home, Winchester.

Teresa Burgess
COOKSON CREEK, Tenn. - Teresa Elaine Burgess died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at her home. She was 33.

Burial will be today at 10 a.m. in Cookson Creek Baptist Church cemetery.

Arrangements are by Wildwood Chapel of Buckner Rush Funeral Home.

Henry Allen
Henry Grady Allen of Rossville died Monday, March 8, 1999, in a local health care facility. He was 94.

Arrangements will be announced by Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.

Lawrence Barker Lawrence E. Barker of Ooltewah died Sunday, March 7, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 76.

Services will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at the East Chapel, Chattanooga Funeral Home, with the Rev. Fate Thomas and the Rev. Johnny Daniels officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends today from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home

Ruby Beard
Ruby Beard died Thursday, March 4, 1999, in a local health care facility. She was 96.

Services will be held today at noon at the Avondale Chapel, Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charlene Boone officiating.

Burial will be at Chattanooga National cemetery.

Katherine Black
Katherine Crawley Black died Monday, March 8, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 78.

She was a lifelong resident of Red Bank and a member of the Church of Christ.

She had retired from Provident Insurance Co. after 15 years and had been a substitute teacher for many years in Red Bank.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester V. Black, and one sister, Geneva Coop.

Survivors include two sons, Chester Black Jr., Red Bank, and Charles Black, Spring City, Tenn.; two sisters, Roberta Carter, Hixson, and Juanita Howard, Nashville; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with minister Gene Arnold officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert Brown
Robert Martin Brown of Hixson died Sunday, March 7, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 89.

Services will be held today at 11:30 a.m. at North Chapel, Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Carroll Burns
Carroll Miles Burns died Sunday, March 7, 1999, at his home. He was 66.

Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road, with the Rev. Lee Byrd officiating.

Burial will be at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Harry Cure
Harry Cure, a native of Chattanooga, died in Atlanta Sunday, March 7, 1999, at his home. He was 93.

Graveside services will be held today at 11 a.m. at B'Nai Zion cemetery in Chattanooga with Rabbi Josef Davidson officiating.

Arrangements by West Chapel, Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Aaron Denton
Aaron Denton of Indianapolis died Friday, March 5, 1999.

Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home.

Maudie Finley
Maudie B. Finley died Saturday, March 6, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 77.

Willie Gray
Willie Gray died Sunday, March 7, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 61.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Robert Glenn
Robert L. 'Pig' 'Walkie Talkie' Glenn died Monday, March 1, 1999, in an area health care facility. He was 62.

Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with the Rev. J.N. Luster officiating.

Burial will be at Highland Memorial Gardens.

Hattie Hall Hattie Lena Hall died Saturday, March 6, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 94.

Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Dodds Avenue Chapel, Turner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Jenkins officiating.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Old Spring City cemetery.

George Heider
George J. Heider died Saturday, March 6, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 90.

He was a member of Pilgrim Church, the Chattanooga Half Century Club and Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Heider was retired as vice president of Wilson Pharmaceutical and Chemical Co., and a past member of American Oil Chemists Society.

Survivors include one sister, Catherine Doss, Austin, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Pilgrim Church with the Rev. John Mingus officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hills cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Catherine Helton
Catherine 'Yvonne' Helton of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., died Monday, March 8, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 59.

Arrangements will be announced by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends today after 1 p.m.

Alma Hodge
Alma Blanch Hodge of Rossville died Sunday, March 7, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 87.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Parkway Baptist Temple with the Rev. Ron Tankersley and the Rev. J. Glenn Boatner officiating.

Burial will be at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.

Charles Johnson
Charles E. 'Fly' Johnson died Saturday, March 6, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 47.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernita L. Worthen Johnson, and a brother, Kenneth M. Worthen.

Survivors include his father, Charlie Ed Johnson Sr., Little Rock, Ark.; two sisters, Mary Worthen Pankey and Brenda Worthen Howard, both of Chattanooga; two brothers, George T. Worthen Jr., Chattanooga, and minister Paul L. Johnson, Tampa, Fla.; and grandmother, Georgia Lawrence, Lookout Mountain.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at Forest Hills cemetery with minister Paul L. Johnson officiating.

Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home.

Hester Keef
Hester Burke Keef, formerly of Chattanooga, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, in Jackson, Tenn. She was 98.

She was a native of High Point, Ga., and was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area.

At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of Avondale Baptist Church. She was retired from Servomation Sandwich Shop.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Olin Arnold Keef.

Survivors include one daughter, Lois Rutemeyer, Jackson; one grandson and two step great-grandchildren.

Services will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at West Chapel, Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Duane Mills officiating.

Burial will be at Chattanooga Valley cemetery.

Jack Keller
Jack Leonard Keller died Sunday, March 7, 1999, at a local hospital. He was 72.

Services will be held today at 3 p.m. CST at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg, Tenn.

Burial will be at Cumberland View cemetery.

Elmo Kinser
Thomas Elmo Kinser died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at a local health care facility. He was 93.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. at North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, with Lea Clower officiating.

Burial will be at Forest Hills cemetery.
