Ms. Daisy D. Shubert

August 06, 1915 - March 02, 2008

Daisy was the daughter of the late Lewis Samuel & Lou Savannah Shubert of Flintville, TN. She was a long time member of the Flintville Baptist Church and served as Secretary, Treasurer and pianist for many years. She started working for the L N Gross Company of Fayetteville in 1937 and retired as a senior supervisor for S and M Manufacturing Company after working over 50 years for the two companies. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by 6 brothers: Doyle, Edd, Frank, Robert, J.B. and Fred Shubert and 2 sisters: Dorothy Shubert Davis and Grace Shubert Hampton. Survivors include 1 brother: James Shubert of Fayetteville, TN; 4 sisters: Ola Shubert Weir of Fayetteville, TN, Katherine Shubert Teal of Hinesville, GA, Audrey Shubert Jackson of Horn Lake, MS, Mary Shubert Corder of Madison, AL and 19 nieces and nephews. Daisy especially loved her nieces and nephews and they loved her as well. They were very special to her as young children. She loved all young children. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Basham and Bro. Bobby Plunkett officiating. Burial will follow in Flintville Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Monday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Flintville Baptist Church.

Mr. Rufus A. " Gus " Britton

December 27, 1927 - March 06, 2008

Funeral services for Rufus A. ( Gus ) Britton, age 80, of County Road 401, Paint Rock, AL who passed away at his residence Thursday Morning, March 06, 2008 will be conducted on Saturday, March 08, 2008 at 2 P.M. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Benny Berry officiating. Burial will follow in the Britton Cemetery in Madison Co, AL. Mr. Britton was a native of Franklin Co, TN; he was the son of the late Samuel Dewey & Virgie Ann Fanning Britton. He was a security guard for Chrysler and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife: Barbara S. Britton of Paint Rock, AL; 2 daughters: Joy Lee of Winchester, TN, Faye Tallman of Cordova, TN; 4 sons: Sam Britton of Fayetteville, TN, Mark Britton of Huntland, TN, Curtis Britton & Jeff Britton both of Paint Rock, AL; 4 sisters: Annie Sue Corie of Hazel Green, AL, Rachel Rutledge of Flintville, TN, Vera Murdock, & Sarah Coble both of Fayetteville, TN; 3 brothers: Robert Britton of Hazel Green, AL, Eugene Britton of Flintville, TN, & Charlie Britton of New Market, AL; 17 grandchildren, & 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be on Friday evening, March 07, 2008 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

Mrs. Carla Payne

April 13, 1961 - March 7, 2008

Funeral services for Mrs. Carla Brady Payne, age 46, of Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Friday, March 7, 2008 at the Lincoln Medical Center, will be conducted Sunday, March 9, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Dr. Van Johnson & Rev. Don Schultz officiating. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lincoln Cemetery. Mrs. Payne was a native of Lincoln Co., TN, daughter of Carlton & Ariena Noblitt Brady, she was the manager of WBXR Radio Station and a member of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church. Survivors include 1 son: Matthew Brady Gonzalez of Fayetteville, TN; parents: Carlton & Ariena Noblitt Brady of Fayetteville, TN; grandmother: Idova Noblitt of Fayetteville, TN; 1 sister: Angela Grissom of Fayetteville, TN and 2 brothers: Todd Brady of Fayetteville, TN and Greg Brady of Burnsville, MS. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Matthew Gonzalez College Fund. Visitation with the family will be Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

Mr. James Frederick 'Fred' Bates

August 25, 1971 - March 12, 2008

Funeral services for Mr. James Frederick ‘Fred’ Bates, age 36, of Flintville, TN, who passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008, in Madison County, AL as the result of an automobile accident, will be conducted Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Stovall & Bro. Dan Bolin officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Mr. Bates was a native of Lincoln Co., TN, son of Arnold Bates and the late Lynda Kaye Sullivan. He was a dry wall finisher and was a member of the Fayetteville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Survivors include 1 daughter: Kayla Bates; 4 sons: Justin Bates, Kyle Bates, Ryan Bates, Trevor Bates all of Fayetteville, TN; fiancée Mona Crosby of Hazel Green, AL; father: Arnold Bates of Flintville, TN; 3 sisters: Juanita Taylor, Sharon Pendergrass both of Fayetteville, TN, Patricia McElyea of New Market, AL; 2 brothers: Derrick Burton of Murfreesboro, TN, Lowell Bates of Kelso, TN and grandmother: Sadie Sullivan of Fayetteville, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a special trust for Mr. Bates’ children, contact Gallant Funeral Home for more information. Graveside services for Mr. Goodrich P. Smith, age 96, of Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Lincoln Medical Center, will be conducted Monday, March 17,2 008 at 1:00 p.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery with Bro. Bill Wood officiating. Mr. Smith was a native of Lincoln Co., TN, son of the late H.D. & Susie M. Gray Smith. He worked in maintenance for the Lincoln County Board of Education and he loved yard work, farming and raising chickens. He is survived by his wife: Virgie W. Smith of Fayetteville, TN; 1 son: Thomas G. Smith of Fayetteville, TN; 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Gallant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation with the family will begin Monday at 12:00 noon at the Gallant Funeral Home.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Elk River Community Baptist Church. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband: John Patterson; 1 daughter: Velvie Ann Pack; 4 sisters: Frances Wood, Nannie Mae Carter, Mary Ashby, Annie Florence Jones and 3 brothers: Harley Brown, A.C. Brown & Howard Brown. Survivors include her husband: Walter L. Stewart of Ardmore, TN; 2 daughters: Geneva & Harold Heard of Toney, AL, Linda & Johnny Furline of Taft, TN; 6 sons: J.W. & Carol Patterson of Belvidere, TN, Dale & Donna Patterson of Ardmore, TN, Deimer & Robbie Patterson of Taft, TN, Oliver & Barbara Patterson of Ardmore, TN, Lester & Sandra Patterson of Taft, TN, Donnie & Debbie Patterson of Belvidere, TN; 2 sisters: Janie Patterson of Taft, TN & Alma Jaco of Fayetteville, TN and numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. George Edward Jones, age 71, of Cooper Branch Road, Mulberry, TN who passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008 at his residence will be conducted graveside at the Mulberry Cemetery with Bro. Ron Ellis officiating with burial to follow with the Gallant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Jones was a native of Merlin, Oregon the son of the late William Dennis & Ruby Faye Hall Jones. He was a Rancher & a Cowboy operating a Cattle Ranch, he also was a Logger & School Custodian. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Gladys Jones & Dorothy D. Prince & 1 brother: Dennis Jones. He is survived by his wife: Winona Jones of Mulberry, TN; 1 daughter: Rita Renee Roberts & husband: Jim of Madison, AL; 4 sons: Samuel Edwards Jones & wife: Myong of Lakewood, WA, Roy Lee Jones of Union, OR, Cary Adam Jones of Portland, OR, & Casey Allan Jones & wife: Kim of Enterprise, OR; 2 sisters: Lavelle Cecil of Milton-Freewater, OR, & Margaret Dickenson of Hermiston, OR ; and 6 grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah F. Pylant, age 89, of Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the Donalson Care Center, will be conducted Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Blanche Cemetery. Mrs. Pylant was a native of Sheffield, AL, daughter of the late Joseph Bryson & Kate Twitty Forbes. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband: Willie B. Pylant of Fayetteville, TN; Nephews: Ronald Pylant of North Carolina, Steve Pylant of Kansas; cousins: Jimmy Twitty of Florida, Mary Alice Bindus of Arizona and Sarah Ellen Matlcok of Cowan, TN. Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

February 14, 1948 - March 28, 2008

Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Dale Stovall, age 60, of Kelso, TN, who passed away Friday, March 28, 2008 at his residence, will be conducted Sunday, March 30, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Bill Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Kelso Cemetery. Mr. Stovall was a native of Lincoln Co., TN, son of the late Bobby & Betty Jo Sullenger Stovall, and a stocker for Dollar Market. He loved restoring old trucks, coon hunting and rodeos. Survivors include his wife: Judy Stovall of Kelso, TN; 1 daughter: Becky Jane Vaughn of Lynchburg, TN; 1 step-daughter: Sherry L. Cagle of Fayetteville, TN; 1 sister: Jane Deske of Peoria, IL; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Visitation with the family will be Sunday from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.
