Taysha Abernathy Quin
Taysha Abernathy, 9 months old, died Thursday, March 18, 1999 in a Nashville hospital.

Survivors include her mother, Nicole Abernathy; her father, Quincy Carter; a sister, Ophelia Davis; and grandparents, Tina Ware and Charles Abernathy.

Graveside services will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in Highland cemetery with the Rev. Oscar Lockhart officiating.

Visitation will be today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Mary Adcox
Mary Frances Adcox of East Ridge died Friday, March 19, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 74.

She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and was a Baptist.

Survivors include one daughter, Connie Rodriquez; one granddaughter and one great-grandson.

Graveside services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Chattanooga National cemetery with the Rev. Billy Dean officiating.

The family will receive friends Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by the Dodds Avenue Chapel of Turner Funeral Home.

Walter Arrants
Walter Johnson Arrants died Thursday, March 18, 1999, at his home. He was 90.

He was a graduate of Berea College and was manager of Reservoir Properties at his retirement from TVA after 42 years of service.

He was a member and elder of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Rominger Arrants; one son, William Walter Arrants, Brentwood, Tenn.; one daughter, Patricia Thompson, Jasper, Ga.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Monday in Berea, Ky.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 104 McBrien Road, Chattanooga, TN 37411.

Local arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

There will be no visitation.

Shirley J. Branam
Shirley J. Branam died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 58.

A graveside service will be today at 11 a.m. in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park with the Rev. John Carter officiating.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

Darmecus Bush
Darmecus Santell Bush, infant, died Friday, March 19, 1999, in a local hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home.

John Carter
John Edward Carter of Ooltewah died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, in a local nursing home. He was 88.

He was a native of Georgetown, Tenn., and was retired from the Hamilton County Nursing Home.

He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Mark and Steven Hill.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie Harris Carter; three daughters, Chris Carden, Cleveland, Joyce Powell and Jean Hill, both of Chattanooga; a son, Charles Carter, Ooltewah; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be today at 2:30 p.m. at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Virgil Nix and the Rev. W.L. Harbin officiating.

Burial will be in Ooltewah cemetery.

Troy Crutchfield
Troy Crutchfield of Fort Oglethorpe, formerly of the Burning Bush community, died Thursday, March 18, 1999, in a local health care facility. He was 93.

He was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area, had served as a deacon at Burning Bush Baptist Church for many years and was a member of East Brainerd Baptist Church.

Mr. Crutchfield was retired from Walter Jackson Chevrolet and was the widower of Ora Hooper Crutchfield.

Survivors include his daughter, Joan Crane Buskie, Fort Oglethorpe; one brother, Fred Crutchfield, Chattanooga; two sisters, Corene Vandergriff and Grace Bartlett, both of Chattanooga; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway, with the Rev. Leon Hullender officiating.

Visitation will be today from 3 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ronnie Edmondson
Ronnie Edmondson died Friday, March 19, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 58.

He was a Baptist and was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Parker Edmondson.

Survivors include his children, Ronald D. Edmondson, Sherry Darlene Dunwoody, Karen Renee Edmondson, Darryl W. Edmondson and Melissa Ann Smith, all of Chattanooga, and Crystal Diane Edmondson, Panama City Beach, Fla.; his mother, Lois Pierce, Chattanooga; one sister, Diane Edmondson; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Joe Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dock Ervin
Dock Ervin died Monday, March 15, 1999, at his home. He was 79.

Services will be today at noon at Taylor Funeral Home with the Rev. Harris Toney officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.

Margaret Farr
Margaret B. Farr of Soddy-Daisy died Monday, March 15, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 84.

Services will be today at 3 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom McGee officiating.

Hallie Gates
Hallie H. Gates of Rossville died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 94.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. at the Dodds Avenue Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.

James Hale
James Edward Hale died Tuesday, March 16, 1999, in a local nursing home.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. CST at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Hooker, Ga., with the Rev. Clifford Parrish officiating.

Burial will be in Hooker Community cemetery.

Arrangements are by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

William Kendrick
William D. 'Bill' Kendrick of Fort Oglethorpe, died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 77.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

Lynda Lloyd
Lynda Joyce Lloyd died Thursday, March 18, 1999, in a local health care facility. She was 48.

Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Rosemary Mason
Rosemary Howard Ballanger Mason died Monday, March 15, 1999, in a local hospital.

She was a native of Warren County and was raised in Chattanooga.

She was a Baptist and was preceded in death by her adoptive father, Willie Howard, and a sister, Annie Mae Howard.

Survivors include three sons, Arthur Jr., Gregory and Randall Ballanger, all of Chattanooga; a daughter, Melita Mason, Davis, Calif.; her adoptive mother, Myrtice Howard, Chattanooga; three sisters, Linda Moss, Chattanooga, Teresa Tanksley and Vera Collins; a brother, Clifford Tanksley; and several grandchildren, all of Warrenton, Ga.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. Willie Hammonds officiating.

Burial will be in Highland cemetery.

Daisy Masterson
Daisy Delvine Masterson of Soddy-Daisy died Friday, March 19, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 93.

She was widowed by both Andrew A. Alderman and Charles R. Masterson and was preceded in death by a daughter, Delvine Betty Yrabedra.

Survivors include two granddaughters, Mercy Yrabedra and Maria Easterwood, Tennessee; two grandsons, Andrew Yrabedra, Georgia and Richard Yrabedra, Florida; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Salem, Va.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Red Cross.

Arrangements are by Williamson & Sons Funeral Home.

Ruth Pirkle
Ruth Evelyn Pirkle of Soddy-Daisy died Friday, March 19, 1999, at her home. She was 77.

The Chattanooga native was a member of First Baptist Church in the Golden Gateway and its Lydia Sunday school class. She was a 1939 graduate of Chattanooga High School and was the widow of James E. Pirkle Sr.

Survivors include three sons, Dr. James E. Pirkle Jr., Athens, Tenn., Jerry M. Pirkle, Cookeville, Tenn., and Michael A. Pirkle, Chattanooga; one daughter, Deborah P. Wilson, Soddy-Daisy; one brother, Charles Trotter, East Ridge; and three grandchildren.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Gary Carver, the Rev. Walter Wendelken and the Rev. Keith Bates officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pamela Presley
Pamela Karen Presley of Apison died Thursday, March 18, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 40.

Services will be today at 11:30 a.m. at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. William Swanson officiating.

Burial will be in Plowman cemetery.

Estelle Rogers
Estelle Mae Rogers of Soddy-Daisy died Thursday, March 18, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 89.

Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Phil Shellabarger officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
