Johnny Boswell
Johnny Boswell died Sunday, March 21, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 72.

Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home.

Charles Cannon
Charles David Cannon of Soddy-Daisy died Saturday, March 20, 1999, from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. He was 44.

He was a member of White Oak Baptist Church and was employed as a service technician for Diamond Exterior / Sears.

He served aboard the USS Bandy during the Vietnam War and was a member of American Legion William A. Blair Post 95.

He was an avid gun enthusiast and outdoorsman.

Survivors include his wife, Carylon Cannon; a son, Joshua David Cannon, Soddy-Daisy; his parents, Ed and Freda Hardin Cannon, Hixson; one sister, Elaine Cannon, and a brother, Eddie Cannon, Red Bank; one grandson.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by Covenant Funeral Service.

Robert Douglass
Robert J. Douglass died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at his home in Palm City, Fla.

Mr. Douglass served in the Navy throughout World War II. He completed his service as lieutenant commander and commanding officer of the destroyer escort USS March.

He spent over 30 years in the wood products industry, primarily in Louisville, Ky. He served on many boards of directors and several national wood-related associations. In 1974, he retired as president and chairman of the board of Gamble Brothers and relocated his primary residence to the Stuart, Fla., area.

Survivors include his wife, Hattie Jane Holmes Douglass; two children, Jane Douglass Rhodes, Carlsbad, Calif., and Robert J. Douglas Jr., Oak Hill, Va.; two sisters, Phoebe Winholt, St. Louis, and Marian Fisher, Aledo, Ill.; two grandchildren.

A graveside service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Forest Hills cemetery.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Palm City.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Martin and St. Lucie, 2030 S.E. Ocean Blvd., Stuart, FL 24996.

There will be no visitation at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East, which is in charge of arrangements.

Colleen Duncan
Colleen W. Duncan of St. Elmo died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 68.

She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlis Duncan, and a daughter, Linda Duncan Raisler.

Survivors include two daughters, Sue Gravitt, Valley Head, Ala., and Pat Herrin, Chickamauga; three sons, Curtis Duncan, Rossville, Ronald Duncan, St. Elmo, and Robert Duncan, Chattanooga; a sister, Montie Lee Broadwell, Tampa, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Underwood officiating.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.

Visitation will be after noon today at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

Mattie Dye
Mattie Brown Dye of Hixson died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, in a local health care facility. She was 87.

She was a member of Falling Water House of Prayer, the widow of Oscar Dye and the mother of the late James Dye.

Survivors include two daughters, Sarah Murphy, Hixson, and Barbara Bates, Soddy-Daisy; three sons, Raymond E., Herbert and George Dye, all of Chattanooga; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Swafford officiating.

Burial will be in Hall cemetery.

Rayford Evans
Rayford W. Evans of Chickamauga, Ga., a resident of Chattanooga for several years, died Saturday, March 20, 1999. He was 53.

A graveside service will be today at 1 p.m. at Crestlawn cemetery in Noble, Ga., with the Rev. Steven Clayton officiating.

Arrangements are by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Foster
Elizabeth Foster died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at her home. She was 85.

Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home.

Marion Haynes
Marion 'M.T.' Haynes died Sunday, March 21, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 77.

Services will be today at 2:30 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North, with the Rev. Terry St. John officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Carl Hickey
Carl L. Hickey Sr. of Chattanooga, formerly of Knoxville, died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, in a local hospital.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II, when he served on the battleship New York for six years. He attended St. John United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Davis Hickey, Chattanooga; son, Carl L. Hickey Jr., Johnson City; daughter, Patricia Ann Hickey, Duluth, Ga.; two brothers, Clifford 'Bill' Hickey, Lenoir City, and Gilbert Hickey, Rockville, Md.; five sisters, Marie Jones, Thelma Stephens and Mable Sigmon, all of Knoxville, Opal Rager, Rockville, and Ora Mae Story, Charlotte, N.C.; two grandchildren.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Highland Memorial cemetery with the Rev. Randall Martin officiating.

Louella Hill
Louella Johnson Hill died Monday, March 22, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 85.

Services will be today at 11 a.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Sam Payne officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

Edna Hyatt
Edna Hyatt, formerly of Chattanooga, died Friday, March 19, 1999, in Chicago.

Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Henry LaBonne
Henry Manuel 'Hank' LaBonne of East Ridge died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1999, at his home.

A memorial Mass will be held Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Arrangements were by Chattanooga Funeral Home, East.

Charles Lamb
Charles B. Lamb of Wildwood, Ga., died Saturday, March 20, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 69.

Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. David McNabb officiating.

Burial with full military honors will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.

Fred Maffett
J. Fred Maffett died Monday, March 22, 1999, at a life care center in Chattanooga. He was 89.

He was a Methodist.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Carson Maffett, and a brother, Harry Maffett, West Palm Beach, Fla.

A graveside service will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in Chattanooga National cemetery with the Rev. Bob Gilbert officiating.

There will be no visitation at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North, which is in charge of arrangements.

Winfred McClellan
Winfred McClellan died Sunday, March 21, 1999, in a local hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by the Trammell Chapel of Hardwick & Sons Funeral Home.

Herman McCormick
Herman Eugene McCormick died Sunday, March 21, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 62.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway, with pastors Allen Crider and Richard Brock officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.

Edna Meyer
Edna Findley Meyer of Red Bank died Monday, March 22, 1999, at her home. She was 90.

Arrangements will be announced by Vaughn Funeral Home, Spring City, Tenn.

Hilton Morrison
Hilton Morrison of Soddy-Daisy died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at his home. He was 66.

Services will be today at 1:30 p.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Edward L. Williams officiating.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

Otis Pollard
Otis G. Pollard died Monday, March 22, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 65.

Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Cina Beatty-Sampson
Cina Beatty-Sampson of Rossville and Soddy-Daisy died Sunday, March 21, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 37.

Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway, with the Rev. Mike Gregg officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Clifford Skelton
Clifford Skelton Sr. died Monday, March 22, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 73.

Services will be today at 11:30 a.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North, with Dr. Fred Steelman and the Rev. Bill Harvey officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 519 E. Fourth St., Chattanooga, TN 37404.

Kathleen Thomas Kathleen Thomas died Monday, March 22, 1999, at her home. She was 64.

Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home.
