Joseph Arthur Wagner died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at his home. He was 67.

The funeral will be today at 10 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road, with bishop Ludd officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation.

George Williams
George E. Williams died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at his home. He was 56.

Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home.

Billy Youngblood
Billy C. Youngblood, a decorated 39-year Marine Corps veteran, died Sunday, March 21, 1999. He was 67.

The funeral will be today at 1:30 p.m. at Red Bank Baptist Church with Dr. Fred Steelman and Ben Haden officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

Arrangements are by the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Red Bank Baptist Church, 4000 Dayton Blvd., Chattanooga, TN 37415, or to the Southeast Area Young Marines, 4051 Amnicola Highway, Chattanooga, TN 37406.

Booker Young
Booker T. Young died Monday, March 22, 1999, at his home.

Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home.

Alice Gray
DUNLAP, Tenn. - Alice S. Gray died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, in an area nursing home. She was 93.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Dunlap and the widow of Parker J. Gray.

Survivors include a daughter, Brownie G. Ewton; two sons, George L. and Max L. Gray, all of Dunlap; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. CST at Putnam-Standefer-Reed Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Gholson officiating.

Burial will be in Hixson cemetery.

Visitation will be today after 2 p.m. CST at the funeral home.

Winona Harris
SWEETWATER, Tenn. - Winona Martin Harris died Monday, March 22, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 85.

She was a member of Sweetwater First United Methodist Church and the widow of Clarence F. Harris.

She was the founder of Harris Jewelers of Sweetwater and a former nurse for Dr. J.F. Cleveland for about 25 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Claire Harper, Knoxville; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Services will be today at 4:30 p.m. at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. Julian Walton officiating.

Burial will be in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sweetwater First United Methodist Church, 501 Church St., Sweetwater, TN 37874.

Roy Holsclaw
ETOWAH, Tenn. - Roy Dunn Holsclaw died Sunday, March 21, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 81.

Mr. Holsclaw served as a captain in the Navy, commanding a submarine chaser during World War II.

He served as postmaster in Etowah, retiring from that job in 1986.

He was a lifelong member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Etowah, where he founded the Wesley Salvation Fund in 1978 to administer to those in need.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Houk Holsclaw; a daughter, Ann Holsclaw, Etowah; son, Roy Franklin Holsclaw, Oak Ridge, Tenn.; and a niece.

Services were held Tuesday at the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. George Dunbar officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wesley Salvation Fund, c/o Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 923 Ohio Ave., Etowah, TN 37331.

Osbon Malone
LEESBURG, Ala. - Osbon 'Ozzie' Malone, formerly of Rossville, died Sunday, March 21, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 75.

He was a World War II POW, having served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the William Coffee Chapter 62 of the Disabled American Veterans and a Combustion Engineering employee for 21 years.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene Malone, Leesburg; a daughter, Marcheia Darley, Steinhatchee, Fla.; two sisters, Jeannette Quinn, Tampa, Fla., and Freida Turner, Chattanooga Valley; two brothers, Bobby Malone, Lynchburg, and Arbon Malone, Pioneer, Calif.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be today at noon at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Herb Fickett and the Rev. Donald Plants officiating.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

Peggy McDermott
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Petty J. McDermott died Saturday, March 20, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 60.

She retired from Duracell after 28 years of service.

She was the daughter of the late Willus Hackett and the granddaughter of the late James W. Hackett, Nova Towns and Walter Johnson.

Survivors include three sons, Cranston Hackett, Chalmer and Charlton McDermott, Cleveland; mother, Ernestine Hackett; a sister, Barbara Osborne, Cleveland; two brothers, Walter Hackett, Cleveland, and Charles Mills, Riverdale, Ill.; and six grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Edwin Robinson officiating.

Burial will be in Fort Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Patton Funeral Home, Cleveland.

Alton McGowen
RICEVILLE, Tenn. - Alton Eugene McGowen died Friday, March 19, 1999, at his home. He was 67.

He was retired from Prime Sirloin Restaurant. He also had worked for Plastic Industries and was a Baptist.

Survivors include a daughter, Kimblee Arp, Riceville, Tenn.; three sons, Rockie, Robert and James McGowan, all of Riceville; two stepdaughters, Annette Ledford, Murphy, N.C., and Sue Nicholson, Pensacola, Fla.; two stepsons, Danny Ray Hall, Elijay, Ga., and Luke Hall, Farner, Tenn.; a brother, Buck McGowan, Arkansas; two sisters, Bertie Bedell, Arizona, and Lola Floyd, Arkansas.

Services were Tuesday at Ziegler Funeral Home with minister Jack Stampler officiating.

Burial was in Riceville cemetery.

Millard Moore
OLDFORT, Tenn. - Millard Leon Moore died Monday, March 22, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 74.

He was a well-known farmer and timber cutter, having worked in both areas all of his life. He was a member of Boanerges Baptist Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Dorothy King, Linda Branam and Paulette Casteel, all of Cleveland, and Betty Jo McCurry and Shirlyn Stinnett, both of Oldfort; two sons, the Rev. Charles Moore and the Rev. David Moore, both of Oldfort; a sister, Hazel Pullen, Crandall, Ga.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at the Wildwood Chapel of Buckner-Rush Funeral Home with the Rev. Leroy Elliott and the Rev. Randall Headrick officiating.

Burial will be in Boanerges Baptist Church cemetery.

Ruby Underdown
ATHENS, Tenn. - Ruby Bell Henley Underdown died Sunday, March 21, 1999, in an area nursing home. She was 81.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Elkins officiating.

Burial will be in Sullins cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Joyce Ward
ATHENS, Tenn. - Joyce Nelson Ward died Monday, March 22, 1999, in an area medical center. She was 62.

She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, where she taught training union. She was a former employee of McMinn Memory Gardens and a self-employed accountant.

Survivors include a daughter, Nicole Ward; a son, Mike Ward, Athens; brother, Charles E. Nelson, Athens; two sisters, Dorthea Runyan, Decatur, Tenn., and Bobbie White, Valdosta, Ga.; stepsister, Irene Gates, Dayton, Tenn.; two grandchildren.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Frazier and the Rev. Donnie Dalton officiating.

Burial will be in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Arrangements are by Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home, Athens, Tenn.

William Rogers
William Paul Rogers died Thursday, March 25, 1999, in a local health care facility. He was 79.

Arrangements will be announced by Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.

Jasmine Shelton
Jasmine Nicole Shelton died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, in Alabama.

She was the granddaughter of Samuel and Vivian Shelton of Chattanooga.

The funeral will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at United Church in Alabama.

Arrangements are by Lees United Funeral Home in Lees, Ala.

Albert Shirley
Albert L. 'Doc' Shirley died Thursday, March 25, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 82.
