Pearl Tolbort
Pearl W. Tolbort died Thursday, March 25, in a local hospital. She was 99.

She was a member of St. Matthews Primitive Baptist Church, where she served on the Mother's Board and was a member of the Sister Aid Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. John Tolbort, and a daughter, Nazarene Clack.

Survivors include a sister, Savannah Butler; an aunt, Carrie Trouge; three grandchildren and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at St. Matthews Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Clyde Sanderfur officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.

Arrangements are by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Irene Weekly
Irene G. Weekly died Friday, March 26, 1999, in a local health care center. She was 84.

She was a longtime resident of Chattanooga and a Baptist.

Survivors include a daughter, June Ellen Sterwalt, Arkansas; a sister, Pearl Wallace, Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews.

There will be no services or visitation at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road, which is in charge of arrangements.

Alice Worth
Alice Marie Worth died Thursday, March 25, 1999, in a local health care facility.

She was a native of Spring City, Tenn., and had lived in Atlanta. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Robert C. Worth; a sister, Edna Tutthill, Pensacola, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. George Schmidt officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service after the visitation, at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

Booker Young
Booker T. Young died Monday, March 22, 1999, at his home.

He was retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority and was a member of Second Baptist Church and Club 11, and was founder of the Friendly Five Quartet and the Bus Driver Program.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Young, and a son, Booker T. Young Jr.

Survivors include a son, Clarence Young, Chattanooga; eight daughters, Cynthia Jean Smith, Lila Ann Clay, Roslyn McCullough, Wanda D. Young, Mangree Young, Andrea R. Young, all of Chattanooga, Cassandra D. Young and Alesia Gay Young, both of San Diego; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be Sunday at 1 p.m. in Forest Hills cemetery with the Rev. Paul A. McDaniel officiating.

Visitation will be today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Mary Barnhart
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Mary Barnhart died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, in a local nursing home. She was 98.

She was a member of Valley Head United Methodist Church and was widowed by both Frank Boyd and Edison F. Barnhart.

Survivors include a daughter, Frances Ann Kingston, Cleveland; two stepdaughters, Beatrice Nugent, Salem, Ore., and Patricia Curtis, Girard, Ohio; stepson, John Boyd, Cleveland; four sisters, Gladys Chambers, Jessie Lou Ownby, Floyd Cox and Sammye Allen, all of Cleveland; 11 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be today at 2:30 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with the Rev. Barry Kidwell officiating.

Burial will be in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.

Wesley Blaylock
SPENCER, Tenn. - Wesley Norman Blaylock died Thursday, March 25, 1999, in a Pikeville hospital. He was 46.

He was self-employed and a Baptist.

Survivors include five sisters, Johnita Holman, Livingston, Tenn., Martha Prater, McMinnville, Stella Payne, Cookeville, Tenn., Letha Blaylock, Chattanooga, and Chris Johnson, Sparta, Tenn.; and a brother, Will Walker, Plano, Texas.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Love-Cantrell & Cope Spencer Chapel with Cecil Van Winkle officiating.

Visitation will be today after 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Elbert Brock
ATHENS, Tenn. - Elbert F. Brock died Thursday, March 25, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 85.

He was a member and former deacon of Marshall Hill Baptist Church and a dairy farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Moses Brock; a son, Leonard Brock, Athens; sister, Alma Hyde, Athens; brother, Reed Brock, Niota; one grandchild and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. J.W. Irons and the Rev. Ronnie Moore officiating.

Burial will be in Buttram's cemetery.

Coil Clark
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Coil Franklin Clark died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 48.

Mr. Clark was a truck driver for Arn Knitting for more than 10 years and was a member of Cloverleaf Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Reba Fay Scroggins Clark; two daughters, Lisa Burnett, Chattanooga, and Tresia Lehnus, Beaver Dam, Ky.; his mother, Margaret E. Clark; and two grandchildren.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Fike Funeral Home with the Rev. Blane Phillips and the Rev. Randall Headrick officiating.

Burial will be in Samples Memorial Baptist Church cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Daisy Cobb
ETOWAH, Tenn. - Daisy Cobb of Detroit, formerly of Etowah, died there Tuesday, March 23, 1999. She was 75.

Survivors include a son, Walter Ray Cobb; brother, Walter Cobb, Riceville, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday in Detroit.

Burial will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at New Zion cemetery in Etowah.

Arrangements are by M.D. Dotson Funeral Home, Cleveland, Tenn.

Patricia Fennell
TEN MILE, Tenn. - Patricia Leeann 'Puckin' Osborne Fennell died Thursday, March 25, 1999, in a Knoxville hospital. She was 24.

A lifelong resident of Ten Mile, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Lee Osborne Jr., and her grandparents, J.B. Shelton and Lena and Frank Hicks.

Survivors include her husband, Jessie Russell Fennell; parents, Marcella Ann Shelton Shell, Ten Mile, and David Lee Osborne, Rockwood, Tenn.; a brother, Franklin Osborne; grandmother, Dellie Shelton, both of Ten Mile; and a granddaughter.

The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Maple Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Curtis Walden and the Rev. Carlos Peterson officiating.

Burial will be in Luminary cemetery.

Arrangements are by Ziegler Funeral Home.

John Loden
SPRING CITY, Tenn. - John C. 'J.C.' Loden died Thursday, March 25, 1999, in an Chattanooga health care facility. He was 89.

He retired as a master sergeant from the U.S. Army after serving for 18 years, part of that during the Korean conflict.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Lea Gideon Loden; two sons, Tim Loden, Sacramento, Calif., and Michael Loden, Birmingham; two daughters, Deborah Lee Jaegge, Chattanooga, and Pam Miller, Birmingham, Ala.; three sisters, Lottie James, Grandview, Tenn., Ava Hritz, Crossville, Tenn., and Iva Teuber, Cambridge, Wis.; eight grandchildren.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Vaughn Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Smith and the Rev. Kenneth Goins officiating.

Burial will be in Spring City cemetery with full military honors.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Margaret Miller
POWELLS CROSSROADS, Tenn. - Margaret Miller died Friday, March 26, 1999, in a Chattanooga hospital. She was 80.

She was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and the widow of Henry Miller.

Survivors include a daughter, Lodema Gentry, Hixson; two sons, Gordon and Darrel Miller, both of Powells Crossroads; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hooper Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Jones officiating.

Burial will be in Teague cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 10 p.m. at the cemetery.

Mara Richeson
COPPERHILL, Tenn. - Mara Marie Richeson died Friday, March 26, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 73.

Survivors include two brothers, Arthur and Arlis Richeson, both of Copperhill.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Finch-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Taylor officiating.

Visitation will be today after 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Patricia Rutledge
BENTON, Tenn. - Patricia Ann Swafford Rutledge of Landover, Md., and formerly of Benton, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999. She was 50.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Franklin Swafford.

Survivors include her husband, George E. Rutledge Sr.; two daughters, Lynda Ward and Brenda Casanaugh; two sons, George E. Rutledge Jr. and Alvin Rutledge; her mother, Ruby Hall Swafford, Benton; two sisters, Mary Gibson, Benton, and Elsie Hyde, Cleveland; a brother, Frank Swafford, California; and four grandchildren.

Services will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at Mountain View Baptist Church in Benton.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church.
