LeRoy Hughes of Smyrna, Ga., formerly of Chattanooga, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at the home of his daughter.

William Kelley
Dr. William Andrew Kelley of Cary, N.C., died Sunday, March 7, 1999, at his home. He was 44.

Sonya McCann
Sonya Lynn McCann of Red Bank died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 40.

Douglas McCarter
Douglas Allen McCarter, an employee of BellSouth, died Monday, March 8, 1999. He was 48.
He was a native of Jenkins, Ky., had lived in Ooltewah for 11 years, and was a member of Ooltewah Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Kirkland McCarter; one son, Christian McCarter; one daughter, Megan McCarter, all of Ooltewah; his parents, Ernest and Thelma Rife McCarter, Jenkins, Ky.; and two sisters, Brenda Mullins, Kemper Ky., and Debbie Thomas, McRoberts, Ky.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Ooltewah Baptist Church with the Rev. C. Henry Preston and the Rev. Jim O'Dillon officiating.
Burial will be in New McDonald cemetery.

William McCroskey
William Henry McCroskey died Sunday, March 7, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 86.
Graveside services will be today at 10 a.m. in Forest Hills cemetery.

Francis Patrick
Francis M. 'Hoss' Patrick of Rossville died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 84.
He was in the Civilian Conservation Corps camp for five years and later joined the U.S. Army becoming a dietitian for the 32nd general hospital division where he served through World War II.
He had worked for Peerless Woolen Mills and Moccasin Bushing Co., before joining the Rossville Police Department and later the Rossville Fire Department. He was with the city of Rossville for 19 years. He also worked for various electrical companies and retired again at the age of 78 from Service Electric Co.
He was a member of Simpson United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by a son, Marion 'Little Boy' Patrick, and a grandson.
Survivors include his wife, Eloise Young Patrick; one daughter, Margaret Anna Cox, Rossville; one son, Ronnie Patrick, Ringgold, Ga.; two sisters, Betty Patrick, Petros, Tenn., and Jean Beene, Powell, Tenn.; three brothers, Herman Patrick, Pearl, Miss., and Oscar and Don Patrick, Powell; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be today at 1 p.m. at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Burch and the Rev. Joe Brown officiating.
Burial will be in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
Visitation will be today until the time of service at the funeral home.

Arthur Plettner
A memorial service for Dr. Arthur R. Plettner will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, 7555 Ooltewah-Georgetown Road, with the Rev. Buckley Robbins officiating.
Dr. Plettner, Juilliard professor of music at UTC for 36 years and former conductor of the Chattanooga Symphony, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999. He was 94.
The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

Martha Robbs

Mrs. Robbs, an emergency room nurse at Erlanger Medical Center for 25 years, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 74.
Ray Skiles
Ray Skiles died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 88.
A native of Bledsoe County, Mr. Skiles had lived in Chattanooga for the past 40 years. He was retired from Cavalier Corp., after 29 years and was a Baptist.
Survivors include three sons, Billy Skiles, Fort Oglethorpe, Ray Skiles, Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and Sonny Skiles, Chattanooga; one daughter, Sally Radebach, Fort Pierce, Fla.; two brothers, Clarence Skiles, Powells Crossroads, Tenn., and Raymond Skiles, Chattanooga; one grandson and one great-grandson.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road with the Rev. Steve Moore and Dr. Tony Weaver officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

Mixon Smith
Mixon Lee Smith Jr. of East Brainerd died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, in a local health care center. He was 76.
A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Mr. Smith was owner and operator of Mixon Smith Contracting Co. for more than 25 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Carpenters Local 74.
Mr. Smith was active in the East Brainerd Youth Athletic Association and was a member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church for over 36 years.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Smith; two daughters, Carol Ann Clapp, Chattanooga, and Mary Beth Smith, Ringgold, Ga.; one son, Mixon Lee Smith III, Pensacola, Fla.; one sister, Rozelle Harris, Knoxville; and four grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Martin's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Gary Callahan officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Book of Remembrance at St. Martin's Episcopal Church.

Roy Vance
Roy D. 'Dick' Vance of Signal Mountain died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, in a local health care facility. He was 86.
The Chattanooga native was employed by Jacobs Manufacturing Co. in Bridgeport, Ala., for many years. In 1955 he founded Advertising Ideas, a specialty advertising company on Signal Mountain, and was associated with them until the time of his death.
He was a member of Signal Mountain Baptist Church and sang in the church choir for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Holder Vance; two brothers, Jack Vance, Signal Mountain, and Joe Vance, Largo, Fla.; one sister, Mary Lynn Broyles, Largo; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Alexian Village Chapel with Dr. A. Richard Childress officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Signal Mountain Baptist Church building fund.

Annie Wise
Annie O. Wise died Saturday, March 6, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 52.
She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Wylene Moore, her father, John Shepard, and a brother, James Moore.
Survivors include her husband, Waymond E. Wise; two sons, Sean Delion Thomas and Michael Jerome Thomas, both of Chattanooga; two daughters, Trina Wyatt and Sharon Thomas, both of Chattanooga; stepmother, Annie Mae Shepard, Chattanooga; brothers, Jimmy Moore II and Andrew Moore, both of Chattanooga; sisters, Joyce Edmonds and Freida Finley, both of Chattanooga; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with elder Randolph Beck Sr. officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hills cemetery.
