Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald McDowell and the Rev. Jimmy Dunn officiating.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Ida Wilson
BENTON, Tenn. - Ida Mae Wilson died Sunday, March 7, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 91.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest Arms officiating.
Burial will follow in Dill cemetery near Oldfort, Tenn.
Willie Young
COALMONT, Tenn. - Willie Young died Monday, March 8, 1999, in a Chattanooga hospital. She was 78.
She was a retired cook at Coalmont and Sweeton Hill Schools and a member of Sweeton Hill Congregational Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Henry Young, and a daughter, Peggy Butler.
Survivors include one daughter, Billie Sue Green, Coalmont; one brother, Tony Nunley, Altamont, Tenn.; one sister, Sally Burrows, Sparta, Tenn.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Sweeton Hill Congregational Methodist Church with the Rev. Gene Richards and the Rev. John Potts officiating.
Burial will be in Coalmont cemetery.
Arrangements are by Cumberland Funeral Home, Tracy City, Tenn.
William Rogers
SEWANEE, Tenn. - William Maurice Rogers died Monday, March 8, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 84.
He was a coal miner for 29 years and a lifelong farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Clara E. Rogers; one son, William Hoyt Rogers, Chattanooga; two daughters, Linda C. Morrison, Gruetli-Laager, Tenn., and Elizabeth Jane Rogers, Palmer, Tenn.; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Layne Funeral Home in Palmer, with the Rev. John H. Coffelt and the Rev. Bob Ruehling officiating.
Burial will be in Palmer City cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

TEN MILE, Tenn. - John F. Kennedy 'Johnny' Shelton died Sunday, March 7, 1999, from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. He was 36.

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Roy A. Smith died Sunday, March 7, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 78.

Burial will be in Lebanon Baptist cemetery.

Helen Strange
LENOIR CITY, Tenn. - Helen Strange died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 75.
Mrs. Strange and her late husband, Richard Cass Strange, were longtime residents of Lenoir City where they were successful in business for many years.
She had made her home in Ooltewah for the last 24 years and was a member of Ooltewah Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Hicks, Snellville, Ga., and Janie L. Ingram, Ooltewah; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Mausoleum in Lenoir City.
Arrangements are by Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City.
Iduma Kirkland
ETOWAH, Tenn. - Iduma Sewell Kirkland died Monday, March 8, 1999, in an area nursing home. She was 93.
Mrs. Kirkland was a member of Delano Baptist Church and the widow of Luther A. Kirkland.
Survivors include one daughter, Bessie M. Martin, Etowah; one son, Ben H. Kirkland, Cleveland, Tenn.; one brother, Parker Sewell, Sherman, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Bordwine Funeral Home with Dr. Bruce Yates and Dr. Harold Curtis officiating.
Burial will be in Green Hill cemetery.

DECATUR, Tenn. - Bertie Kwiram died Monday, March 8, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 85.
A native of Georgia, she had lived most her life in McMinn County and was a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Adolph 'Skip' Kwiram, Decatur; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

SEQUATCHIE, Tenn. - Laura 'Lucille' McClanahan died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, in a Chatanooga hospital. She was 77.
She was the daughter of the late Jacob Luther and Sophia Mae Rogers Moody and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, W. Ephie McClanahan; one son, Billy McClanahan, Sequatchie; two daughters, Lynda Smith, Jasper, Tenn., and Elaine Hawkins, Kingsport, Tenn.; two sisters, Mary Beatrice Burnett, Sequatchie, and Ruth Ellen Edmonds, Jasper; one brother, the Rev. J.W. Penix, Newport, Tenn.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. CST at Rogers Funeral Home in Jasper, with the Rev. Ronnie Smith and the Rev. Mike Teague officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Grove cemetery.

Betty Higginbotham
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Sarah Elizabeth 'Betty' Higginbotham died Monday, March 8, 1999, at her home. She was 85.
She was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school.
She received a bachelor's degree in law from Andrew Jackson University. She was with the Red Cross in reclassification in World War II and was one of the first in Tennessee to build a solar home.
She and her late husband, E. Hughes Higginbotham, owned the Higginbotham Insurance Agency in Patterson, N.J., for a number of years.
Survivors include one daughter, Lynn Hyberger, Cleveland, Tenn.; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be announced by Grissom Funeral Home.
Wesley Evans
GEORGETOWN, Tenn. - Wesley F. 'Bud' Evans died Sunday, March 7, 1999. He was 82.
He was a native of Calhoun, Tenn., a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he received several medals including the Artillery Division Expert Rifleman and the Purple Heart. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include one sister, LuLu Ellis, Georgetown, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Nolen and the Rev. David Evans officiating.
Burial will be in Gamble-Limestone cemetery in Georgetown.
Henry Allen
Henry Grady Allen of Rossville died Monday, March 8, 1999, in a local health care facility. He was 94.
Mr. Allen was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area, a retiree from Southern Railway and a member of Flintstone First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Essie Allen, and a daughter, Delores Worthy.
Survivors include his wife, Laverne Allen; one daughter, Betty Patterson, Rossville; one sister, Lou Ellis Riddle, Atlanta; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home with the Rev. Myron Wise officiating.
Burial will be in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
