Thomas Mayberry
Thomas Carlyle Mayberry of Hixson died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999. He was 73.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Al Bowles, the Rev. David Harr, and Mr. Fay Prigmore officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to First-Centenary United Methodist Church, 419 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37402.

William McDaniel
William Alfred McDaniel of Harrison died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, in an area health care facility. He was 81.

He was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church and was the widower of Zula Campbell McDaniel.

Survivors include one daughter, S. Melvia Basham, Chattanooga; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Mason officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Meadowview Baptist Church, or Ronald McDonald House.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Iona McGregor
Iona McGregor died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, in a local hospital.

She was a member of the World Church of the Living God where she served as mother.

Survivors include her two daughters, Betty Jo Asberry and Jean Willingham; one son, Thomas Willingham; one grandchild.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the World Church of the Living God with Bishop W.C. Hunter officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hills cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.

Arrangements are by the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Martha Nolen
Martha Ellen Nolen died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, at an area retirement center. She was 74.

She was a member of Northside Presbyterian Church, and the Gamma Conclave Sorority.

She was a retired teacher having taught for 43 years in Chattanooga, Catoosa County and Hamilton County schools.

Survivors include several cousins.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Chattanooga Memorial Park with Dr. Jerry Ferrari officiating.

Visitation will be today from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the West Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Bobbie Phillips
Bobbie J. Phillips of Red Bank died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 69.

She was a member of Northside Church of God, and was the wife of the late Wesley Phillips, and the grandmother of the late Brian Brown.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Henshall, Chattanooga; two sons, Michael Phillips, Chattanooga, and Danny Phillips, Rising Fawn, Ga.; three brothers, Doug Fairbanks, Chattanooga, and Ralph and Leck Fairbanks, West Palm Beach, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve White and the Rev. John Brown officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

Visitation will be today and Sunday after 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Howard Pinion
G. Howard Pinion of East Ridge, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999, at a local hospital. He was 81.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road, with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell and the Rev. Henry Preston officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Virginia Rhodes
Virginia Henley Rhodes of Sale Creek, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999.

She was a member of Sale Creek Independent Presbyterian Church, where she participated in the Women of the Church. Prior to her move to Sale Creek, she lived on Signal Mountain, and had been a lifelong member of Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the Women of the Church and taught Sunday school.

She was a graduate of Girls Preparatory School, Class of 1932.

For many years she and her late husband, Edward L. Rhodes Sr., were involved in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Chattanooga Boating Club. They taught classes in boating safety and swimming.

She was the daughter of F. Guy Henry Sr. and Lettie Kemp Henley of Signal Mountain.

She was preceded in death by a son, Edward Leavitt Rhodes Jr.

Survivors include two daughters, Avis Rhodes Allen, Washington, and Anne Rhodes, Signal Mountain; three grandchildren, Carla Rhodes Park, Signal Mountain, Edward Leavitt Rhodes III, Fayetteville, Ga., and Laura Grace Allen, Washington; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, F. Guy Henley, Dalton, Ga.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Northminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Fred Fife officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sale Creek Independent Presbyterian Church, 15017 Dayton Pike, Sale Creek, TN 37373; Cedine Bible Camp, 333 Cedine Camp Road, Spring City, TN 37381; or to the American Lung Association.

Arrangements are by Vanderwall Funeral Home, Dayton, Tenn.

Shelia Rogers
Sheila 'Jackie' Rogers of East Ridge died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, at her home. She was 54.

She was a native and lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area. She attended the Grace & Truth Full Gospel Church where she was the song director.

She was employed as a cashier with Wal-Mart.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Rogers; daughter, Teresa Ann Blair, East Ridge; one son, Randy Poston, Rossville; one sister, Toretta Lynn Keller, Tiftonia; six brothers, Billy Sanders, Charlotte, N.C., Roderick Sanders, Fort Oglethorpe, Buford, Sanders, Chattanooga, Butch Sinard and Wayne Sinard, Chattanooga, and Eddie Sanders, Flintstone, Ga.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Walker and the Rev. Randall Rogers officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.

Visitation will be all day today at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

Terry Saunders
Terry Saunders died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999, at her home. She was 49.

Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home.

Vesta Sorrells
Vesta 'Buster' Sorrells died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Stanley Stigars officiating.

The body will be at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.

Ernest Summerow
Ernest Summerow died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, in a local hospital.

He was a member of Faith Temple Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Summerow; two daughters, Callie Summerow, Georgia, and Barbara Brooks, Chattanooga; one son, Earnest Summerow Jr.; several grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Faith Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Nathaniel Carter officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hills cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Kathy Terry
Kathy Ray Terry died Monday, Feb. 21, 1999, at her home. She was 49.

She was employed by Our Place Restaurant.

She was the daughter of the late George Terry and Annie Louise Reynolds, and the sister of the late Carrie Reynolds.

Survivors include two sons, Alan L. Terry and Andre L. Terry, both of Chattanooga; one brother, George Terry, Chattanooga; six grandchildren.

Services will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with evangelist Deloris Nelson officiating.

Burial will be in Highland cemetery.

The body will be at the funeral home after noon today.

Vivian Thomas
Vivian Paralee Thomas died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999. She was 73.

She was a member of Harris Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Patsy Ann Parks, Chattanooga; two sons, James C. Thomas, Lakeland, Fla., William I. Thomas, Chattanooga; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at noon at Harris Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church with the Rev. Ocie Fullilove officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.

Arrangements are by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Clarence Williams
Clarence Williams of Soddy-Daisy died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, in a hospital in Murfreesboro, Tenn. He was 79.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Hunsucker and brother, Dwayne Leffew officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton County Memorial Park.

Elizabeth Williams
Elizabeth Williams died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999.

Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Earl Wilson
Earl William Wilson died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, in a local health care facility. He was 86.

He was a native and longtime resident of Chattanooga and was a member of Russell Chapel Church of God.

He was a welder at ABB-Combustion for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by three sons, Arnold, Melvin and Shermar Wilson.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Wilson; two sons, Cecil Wilson, Chattanooga, and Larry Wilson, Cleveland, Tenn.; three daughters, Linda Roland, Chattanooga, Mary Lamb, Ringgold, Ga., and Sonja Sirmans, Chattanooga; 25 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at the Dodds Avenue Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Harris, the Rev. James Elkins, and the Rev. Mitch Maloney officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
