Marie Pack
Marie Pack of Inverness, Fla., formerly of Chattanooga, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, in a hospital there. She was 88.

Services will be today at 2:30 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Andrew Stone officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hills cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Harry Phelps
Harry Cornelius Phelps of Winter Park, Fla., died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 83.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Northland Community Church in Longwood, Fla.

Local arrangements are by the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

Aretha Richards
Aretha B. Shook Richards died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, at her home. She was 78.

Mrs. Richards graduated from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Mich. She worked as a dietitian in hospitals and schools, including Southern Adventist University in Collegedale.

She was the widow of Ben L. Richards.

Survivors include one brother, Mel Shook, Michigan; one daughter, Patty Davenport, one son, David Patterson; and four grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Mockville, N.C.

Arrangements are by Crombie-Pinkard Funeral Service.

Della Scholtz
Delia M. Scholtz died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 87.

The McMinn County native had lived most of her life in the Chattanooga area. She was a member of Lake Hills Church of God. She was the widow of Sam Scholtz Sr., and the mother of the late R.L. and Christine Scholtz.

Survivors include one son, Sam Scholtz Jr., Chattanooga; two sisters, Minnie Hickman, Harrison, and Irene Cozzort, Chattanooga; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Old McDonald cemetery.

Nelle Skidmore
Nelle Mae Skidmore of Rossville died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 85.

She was a member of Scott Memorial Church of God and was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Skidmore and a son, James Ronald Skidmore.

Arrangements will be announced by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home where the family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.

Terry Taylor
Terry Lee Taylor of Chickamauga died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 48.

Arrangements will be announced by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home.

Josephine Monday
ATHENS, Tenn. - Josephine Walker 'Jo' Monday died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, in an area nursing center. She was 70.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Ziegler Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Leonard Moss
ETOWAH, Tenn. - Leonard R. Moss Sr. died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 77.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church in Etowah, with bishop Joe C. Bradford officiating.

Burial will be in New Zion cemetery in Etowah.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements will be announced by M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home, Athens, Tenn.

Joyce Rumba
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Joyce Faye Beck Rumba died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 51.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Mount Carmel Baptist Church with brother Tom Rumba officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Carmel cemetery.

Visitation will be today one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements are by Fike Funeral Home.

Mable Shook
JASPER, Tenn. - Mable Thomas Shook, a longtime resident of Marion County, died Wednesday, Feb 17, 1999, in a local hospital.

Funeral services will be today at 11 a.m. CST from the Kimball Church of Christ with ministers Billy Watkins, John Cupp and Virgil Thomas officiating.

Burial will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are by Rogers Funeral Home, Jasper.

Josephine Stock
DAYTON, Tenn. - Josephine Johnston Stock of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and formerly of Dayton, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999. She was 69.

Mrs. Stock was a native of Fort Lauderdale and a graduate of Fort Lauderdale High and FSU. She was a retired Home Economics teacher with the school board of Broward County.

She had been living in a nursing home in Dayton for the past 10 years.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence A. Stock, Fort Lauderdale; stepsons, John J. and Michael L. Stock, Fort Lauderdale; one sister, Dorothy Sharp, Augusta, Ga.; nieces and nephews.

The body was cremated.

Private services were held.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Scholarship Fund of Broward County Educators Assoc., c/o Reva Moore, 10278 SW 56th St., Cooper City, FL 33328.

William Tallant
MURFREESBOBO, Tenn. - William C. Tallant died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, in an area medical center. He was 73.

The Chattanooga native was the son of the late Rev. William C. and Annie L. Peurifoy Tallant.

He was a member of Florence Baptist Chruch, a Navy veteran of World War II and was the retired owner/operator of Tallant Body Shop.

He was a Mason and a member of Mount Moriah Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Ozella Rooks Tallant; three sons, Pete Tallant, Murfreesboro, James A. Tallant, Knoxville, and John A. Tallant, Atlanta; one daughter, Margaret Jane Long, Nashville; four sisters, Jammie Baumgartner, Nashville, Nellie Bolton, Springfield, Mo., Reba Werndli, Chattanooga and Virginia Carroll, Lakeland, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Funeral Home.

Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Don Tate
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Don O. Tate died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, at his home. He was 67.

He was the son of the late Theodore R. and Edna Griffith Tate, and the father of the late Don O. Tate Jr.

He attended Bethel Baptist Church, was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and was retired from Swing Transport.

Survivors include his wife, Eugenia Ann Tate; two sons, Neil Tate, Springfield, Ill., and David Tate, Chattanooga; one daughter, Sanda Owens, McDonald, Tenn.; two sisters, Norma Gray, Red Bank, and Glenda Hanson, Chattanooga; one brother, Everett Tate, Hixson; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be today at 11:30 a.m. at the North Chapel of Buckner-Rush Funeral home with the Rev. Doyle McNabb officiating.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Mayme Thurman
DAYTON, Tenn. - Mayme Thurman died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, at her home. She was 79.

Arrangements will be announced by Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home, Dayton.

Carolyn Wolfe
SPRING CITY, Tenn. - Carolyn H. Wolfe died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 63.

She was a native of South Carolina and had lived in Newport News, Va., before moving to Spring City.

She was an accomplished artist, a member of the national Chapter of the Society of Decorative Arts, Palmetto Decorative Painters, Columbia, S.C., Rocky Top Decorative Painters, Knoxville, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Spring City.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Sadie Garris Hair.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Wolfe, Spring City; father and stepmother, John and Reba Hair, Columbia, S.C.; one son, Steve B. Wolfe, Lexington, S.C.; one daughter, Sherry W. Trimble, Cleveland, Tenn.; two grandchildren.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Vaughn Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Aven officiating.

Burial will be in Spring City cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until the time of service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Spring City, or the Willow House, P.O. Box 455, Spring City, TN 37381.

Marie Alexander
Marie Cunningham Alexander, formerly of Lookout Mountain, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, at her home in Orange Park, Fla. She was 76.

The Chattanooga native attended Central High School and was a veteran of World War II.

She graduated from Cline School of Photography and was a professional photographer for over 40 years. She moved to Florida six years ago.

She was a daughter of the late C.R. and Lona Cunningham, and the sister of the late Charles McKinley, Garfield and Russell Cunningham, and Barbara Brown.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Alexander, Lookout Mountain, and Barbara Alexander, Orange Park, Fla.; one son, Robert R. Hixson Jr., Orange Park; three sisters, Letty Marler, Betty Turner and Mary Anderson; one brother, George Cunningham; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Perry Scruggs officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
