O.J. Blair
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Orienthal James 'O.J.' Blair died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999. He was 18.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with elder G.R. Hill officiating.

Burial will be in Fort Hill cemetery.

Arrangements are by M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home, Cleveland.

Norman Bryant
WHITWELL, Tenn. - Norman 'Mitch' Bryant, formerly of Whitwell, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, in a hospital in Oak Lawn, Ill. He was 67.

Arrangements will be announced by Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home.

Troy Charles
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - J.T. 'Troy' Charles Sr. died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 86.

Mr. Charles was retired from Bowater Southern Division. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class. He was also a member of Masonic Hiwassee Lodge 188.

Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Stewart Charles; one daughter, Mary Denney, Cleveland; one son, John T. Charles., Charleston, Tenn.; one sister, Viola Miller, Huntsville, Ala.; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Services will be Saturday at 5 p.m. at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Dr. Robert Haskins officiating.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church Bus Fund.

Visitation will be Saturday from 4 to 5 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements are by Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.

Karen Durham
SPRING CITY, Tenn. - Karen D. Durham died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, from injuries she sustained in an automobile accident. She was 26.

She was a lifetime resident of Rhea County, a machine operator at Lazy Boy and attended Bogle's Chapel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Kelvin Reed.

Survivors include her mother, Pauline Thurman Reed; one son, Joseph Durham; one daughter, Danielle Durham; grandparents, Winford and Jean Thurman; two sisters, Susan R. Beck, and Krystal Reed, all of Spring City; one brother, Scott Reed, Grandview, Tenn.; nieces and nephews.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Vaughn Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Reed cemetery in Grandview, Tenn.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Elizabeth Emery
ETOWAH, Tenn. - Mary Elizabeth Emery died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, in Richmond, Va. She was 80.

She attended Maryville College and Tennessee College for Women and graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in music education.

She was a highly proficient pianist and taught public school music in Covington, Ky., Knoxville and New York.

She attended Katerine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston and worked briefly at Oak Ridge, Tenn., before moving to New York City, where she was employed by Columbia Concerts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Emery.

Survivors include one daughter, Martha Ann Lindsley, Torreon, Mexico; two sons, Allan Moore Emery, Bowling Green, Ohio, and Herschell Scott Emery, Richmnd, Va.; one sister, Ann Klosterman, Wooster, Ohio; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Etowah, with the Rev. John Pennington Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in Green Hill cemetery.

Arrangements are by Bordwine Funeral Home, Etowah.

Estelle Godfrey
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Estelle Godfrey died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 75.

Arrangements will be announced by the Wildwood Chapel of Buckner-Rush Funeral Home where the family will receive friends today from 1 to 9 p.m.

Allene Green
TRACY CITY, Tenn. - Allene Green died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, at her home. She was 65.

She was the widow of Benton J. Green.

Survivors include three sons, Jimmy Green, Monteagle, Tenn., Benton Green, Tracy City, and Billy Green, Miami, Fla.; four brothers, James Meeks, Coalmont, Tenn., Roy G., Melvin, and Danny R. Meeks, all of Tracy City; six sisters, Oma Lee Morrison, Dorothy Meeks, Joyce Parsons, Donna Jo Hoback and Marie Sanders, all of Tracy City, and Brenda MaGourik, Pelham, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Orange Hill Church with the Rev. Ernest Lockhart officiating.

Burial will be in Orange Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be today after 11 a.m. at Cumberland Funeral Home, Tracy City.

Ruby Green
TRACY CITY, Tenn. - Ruby Allene Green died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, at her home. She was 65.

Arrangements will be announced by Cumberland Funeral Home, Tracy City, Tenn.

Maurice Hale
JASPER, Tenn. - Maurice L. 'Mo' Hale died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999. He was 39.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Funeral Home .

Burial will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.

Fred Hoke
ATHENS, Tenn. - Frederick E. 'Fred' Hoke died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 67.

A memorial service will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at Athens Elks Lodge with the Rev. Michael Doty officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.

Arrangements are by Jerry Smith Funeral Home, Athens.

Richard J. LaPrairie
COALMONT, Tenn. - Richard J. LaPrairie died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 52.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of Cumberland Heights Seventh-day Adventist Church, and a son of the late Joseph LaPrairie.

Survivors include his wife, Lois LaPrairie; one daughter, Melissa LaPrairie, Michigan; mother, Leota LaPrairie, Oklahoma; and one stepdaughter, Audrey Schoenmann, Dalton, Ga.

Services will be today at noon at Cumberland Heights Seventh-day Adventist Church with pastor Mevyn Shaw officiating.

Burial will be in Cumberland Heights cemetery.

Arrangements are by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tenn.

Josephine Monday
ATHENS, Tenn. - Josephine Walker 'Jo' Monday died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, in an area nursing center. She was 70.

A native of the Euchee community in Meigs County, she retied from Athens Furniture Co. after many years of employment.

She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and the widow of Cordell H. Monday.

Survivors include two daughters, Bobbie Chauncey, Chattanooga, and Theresa Patterson, Cumming, Ga.; two sons, Gary and Tony Howard, both of Athens; four sisters, Henrietta Mullins, Decatur, Marie and Betty Walker and Nettie Kuglar, all of Athens; four brothers, Bud and James Walker, Decatur, and Ernest M. Walker Jr. and Ray Walker, both of Athens.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Ziegler Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Leonard Moss
ETOWAH, Tenn. - Leonard R. Moss Sr. died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 77.

He was a member of Southside Church of God of Prophecy, a veteran of World War II and was retired from TVA as a custodian.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Noland Moss.

Survivors include one son, Leonard R. Moss Jr., Etowah; one sister, Mildred Alexander, Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Oliver Sanders, Etowah, Tenn.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church in Etowah, with bishop Joe C. Bradford officiating.

Burial will be in New Zion cemetery in Etowah.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements will be announced by M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home, Athens, Tenn.

Marjorie Nelson
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Marjorie B. Nelson died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 81.

Arrangements will be announced by Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.

Luther Poteet
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The Rev. Luther T. Poteet died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 77.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Cloverleaf Baptist Church in Cleveland with the Rev. Huel Hooker and Eddie Rowland officiating.

Burial will be in Delano cemetery with full military honors.

The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Arrangements are by Bordwine Funeral Home.

Dawn Rogers
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Dawn Marie Rogers died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 26.

Services will be today at 11 a.m. at South Cleveland Church of God with the Rev. Mark Williams officiating.

Burial will be in Fort Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements are by Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.
