Lola Small
SWEETWATER, Tenn. - Lola Walker Small died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, in an area life care facility. She was 86.

She was a retired school teacher, having taught at Sharp's Chapel, Niota and Sweetwater schools.

She was a member of New Bethany Baptist Church, a volunteer for the Sweetwater Hospital and Niota School.

Survivors include her husband, James 'Red' Small; one son, Jimmy Small, Athens; three sisters, Samathia, Bessie and Glenna; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kyker Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Fred Beaty officiating.

Burial will be Friday in Sweetwater Valley Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center or New Bethany Baptist Church.

Beecie Smartt
TRACY CITY, Tenn. - Beecie Smartt died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 89.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Smartt; a daughter, Hassie Meeks; and two sons, Marvin Dillard and Vernon Smartt.

Survivors include three sons, LeRoy, Jack, and Bill Smartt, all of Tracy City; two daughters, Susie Layne, Tracy City, and Juanita Kessler, Manchester, Tenn.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Cumberland Funeral Home with the Rev. Clayton Jones officiating.

Burial will be in Clouse Hill cemetery.

Fred Smith
SPENCER, Tenn. - Fred Smith died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, at his home. He was 75.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Love-Cantrell & Cope Spencer Chapel with Lofton Graves officiating.

Burial will be in Town cemetery with military rites being conducted by the VFW and American Legion.

Tomie Sutton
ATHENS, Tenn. - Tomie Sutton died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, in an area life care center. He was 96.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Webb officiating.

Burial will be in Cedar Grove cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert Taylor
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Robert E. 'Bobby' Taylor of Athens, Ala., and a former resident of Cleveland, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, in a hospital there. He was 73.

He was a member of Northside Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Taylor; two sons, Tony Gooch, Athens, and Tommy Gooch, Largo, Fla.; two sisters, Dorothy Wampler, Cleveland, and Velma Jean Dugan, Lake Placid, Fla.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be today at 2 p.m. at Fort Hill cemetery with minister Roger Jackson officiating.

The family will receive friends today from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the North Chapel of Buckner-Rush Funeral Home.

Amanda Wilson
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Amanda Wilson died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, in a Knoxville nursing home. She was 95.

She was a Baptist, the widow of Jessie Riley Wilson, and the mother of the late Arlan Wilson.

Survivors include one son, Jack Wilson, Inkster Mich., two daughters, Nellie Grosch, Knoxville, and Betty Barnes, Athens, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be today at 11 a.m. at the Wildwood Chapel of Buckner-Rush Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Wattenbarger officiating.

Burial will follow in Clear Springs Baptist Church cemetery.

Dorothy Wright
DAYTON, Tenn. - Dorothy G. Wright died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, at her home. She was 65.

She was a member of New Union Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Spencer Wright; mother, Virginia Garris, Mount Airy, N.C.; six sisters, Ella Mae Poindexter, Geraldine Key, Geneva Wolf, all of Dobson, N.C., Martha Absure, Austin, N.C., and Katie Darnell, State Road, N.C.; and Eleanor Wilkerson, Booneville, N.C.; three brothers, Leo Garris, Elkin, N. C., Ted Garris, Dobson, and Perry Garris, Jonesville, N.C.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Kennedy Funeral Home, in Elkin.

Burial will be in Crestwood Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be today from 1 to 6 p.m. at Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home in Dayton, and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Home in Elkin.

Charles Nance
Charles E. Nance, formerly of Chattanooga, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, in Bradenton, Fla. He was 72.

A graveside service will be today at 9:30 a.m. at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Chapel of Devotion, with the Rev. David Bateman officiating.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Marie Pack
Marie Pack of Inverness, Fla., formerly of Chattanooga, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, in a hospital there. She was 88.

She was a former member of Boynton United Methodist Church and a member of Ocala United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Ann Pack.

Survivors include several cousins.

Services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Andrew Stone officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hills cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

George Patrick
George Edward Patrick died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at a local hospital. He was 54.

He was an Army veteran and retired from New York State Mental Hospital. He was a volunteer firefighter in Gordon Heights, N.Y., and was employed by Mercury Cab Co., at the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Hattie L. Bryant Patrick and his wife, Jean Patrick.

Survivors include one daughter, Katie Patrick; two sons, Dave and Jade Patrick; two stepsons, Louie and Eddie Wilson; two sisters, Sheila Stamper and Vivian Patrick, all of Chattanooga; six brothers, Eugene Bryant, Orlando Srickland and Uless Strickland, all of Chickamauga, Ga., Maurice Strickland and Tyrone Thomas, both of Chattanooga, and Gregory Patrick, Cleveland, Ohio.

Services will be today at noon at Crombie-Pinkard Funeral Service with the Rev. Walter McLin officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.

Visitation will be today at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Aretha Richard
Aretha B. Shook Richard died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, at her home. She was 78.

Arrangements will be announced by Crombie-Pinkard Funeral Service.

Annette Shadden
Annette M. Shadden of Hixson died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 29.

A native of Chattanooga, she was a graduate of Hixson High School and a member of Burks United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Scott Shadden; two daughters, Brittney Morgan and Hannah Elizabeth Shadden, both of Hixson; mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Roger Flinn, Chattanooga; father and stepmother, Alan and Shirley McNabb, Hixson; one brother, David McNabb, Soddy-Daisy; two half brothers, Mark and Mike McNabb, both of Hixson; two stepsister, Angelia Snyder, Soddy-Daisy and Sherry Starnes, Hixson, and two stepbrothers, Roger Flinn, Virginia Beach, Va., and Tim Vincent, Hixson ; grandparents, Dorothy Shelby of Hixson, and Jewel and Gene Brown, Chattanooga. C

Services will be today at 2:30 p.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Buddy Miller and the Rev. Harold Ray officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Robert Tulis
Funeral services for Robert Clement Tulis will be today at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with the Rev. Mike Nolan officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.

Mr. Tulis died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999. He was 70.

Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.

Rosie Williams
Rosie C. Williams died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at her home. She was 76.

Graveside services will be today at 1 p.m. at Forest Hills cemetery with the Rev. Sanderland and other ministers officiating.

Arrangements are by the Trammell Chapel of Hardwick & Sons Funeral Home.

O.J. Blair
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Orienthal James 'O.J.' Blair died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999. He was 18.

A well-known athlete at Bradley and Cleveland High Schools, he participated in football, wrestling, track and also sang in the Ebony & Ivory Chorus at Cleveland and the Bradley High School choir.

He attended North Cleveland Church of God and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he served as junior usher.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Doris Blair and great-grandparents, Charles T. Parker, James and Essie Blair, Romaine Barrett and Willie Mae Barrett.

Survivors include his mother, Nekita Sharp Zackary, Cleveland; father, Troy Parker, Cleveland; one son, Tristan Blair, Crossville, Tenn.; grandparents, Rico Blair, Martha Parker, Cleveland; great-grandmother, Zella Parker, Charleston, Tenn.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with elder G.R. Hill officiating.

Burial will be in Fort Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home, Cleveland.

Henry Brown
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Henry 'Ed' Brown died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, in a local nursing home. He was 78.

He was a deacon at the Lantana Road Baptist Church in Crossville, Tenn., and was retired from Blount Brothers Corporation.

He was the widower of Marjorie Etheridge Brown.

Survivors include three daughters, Elaine Brown, Cleveland, Peggy Smith, Roswell, Ga., and Nancy Brown, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; one son, Travis E. Brown, Rome, Ga.; one brother, Travis L. Brown, Hendersonville, N.C.; and six grandchildren.

Services will be today at 7 p.m. at Fike Funral Home with the Rev. Jamison L. Work officiating.

Burial will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Northview cemetery in Dublin, Ga.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
