Audrey Harwood
DAYTON, Tenn. - Audrey Faye Harwood of Graysville, Tenn., died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, in a Dayton hospital. She was 62.

Services will be today at 3 p.m. at Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton with the Rev. Jim Hillian and the Rev. Gene Norman officiating.

Burial will be in Pleasantview cemetery in Graysville.

Gordon Henderson
HEW HOPE, Tenn. - Gordon Lee 'Potter' Henderson died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, at his home.

Mr. Henderson was a carpenter for over 30 years, a member of Union Local 74, and Pine Grove Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Samuel and Matilda Jane Peoples Henderson; one brother, James E. Henderson; and a sister, Mary Ruth Kelly.

Survivors include his wife, Stephaine Henderson; three daughters, Sherry Hargis and Tammy Lea Brooks, both of South Pittsburg, Kelley Rutledge, Jasper, Tenn., and Barry Henderson, Chattanooga; one stepson, Buddy Dodson, Chattanooga; one sister, Mattie Blevins, New Hope; one brother, Alvin Henderson, Estill Springs, Tenn.; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg, with the Rev. Mickey Skates, the Rev. Dennis Eggert and the Rev. Kenneth Conaway officiating.

Burial will be in New Hope cemetery.

Visitation will be all day today at the funeral home in South Pittsburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Pat Higgins
OLD FORT, Tenn. - Paul Kenneth 'Pat' Higgins died Sunday, Feb, 14, 1999, in a Cleveland, Tenn., hospital.

He was a member of Blue Ridge Temple Baptist Church.

He was a self-employed carpenter and farmer, had worked for TVA and was a retired employee of L&N; Railroad.

He was a member of Conasauga Lodge No. 396 for 50 years and served as worshipful master and was a member of Ocoee Chapter No. 420 Order of Eastern Star serving as worthy patron.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Pullen Higgins, and his son, C.L. Higgins.

Survivors include one daughter, Verna Wood, Knoxville; one sister, Anna Lou Beard, Old Fort; and two grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Longinfelter and the Rev. Randall Headrick officiating.

Burial will be in Benton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lois Hurt
SOUTH PITTSBURG, Tenn. - Lois M. Hurt died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, in a Chattanooga hospital. She was 79.

She was a volunteer at Parkwood Nursing Home.

She was the daughter of the late George P. and Minnie Moore Hurt and the sister of the late Robert L. and Raymond Hurt and Helen Bartkus.

Survivors include one brother, Fred Hurt, Manchester, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. CST at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg, with the Rev. C.L. White and the Rev. Mike Creson officiating.

Burial will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.

John McCaughan
COLLEGEDALE, Tenn. - John B. McCaughan died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, at his home.

Arrangements will be announced by Heritage Funeral Home.

James McGuire
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - James C. McGuire died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 63.

Services will be today at 3 p.m. at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Cheatham officiating.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Billie Merriman
DUNLAP, Tenn. - BIllie Sue Merriman died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999. at her home. She was 65.

She was a member of Lee Station Baptist Church and was the widow of Doyle Merriman.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald Walker; one sister, Ina Ruth Pope, all of Dunlap; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. CST at Putnam-Standefer-Reed Funeral Home with the Rev. Eugene Kilgore officiating.

Burial will be in Sequatchie County Memorial Gardens.

William Moree
JASPER, Tenn. - William R. 'Bill' Moree died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at his home. He was 56.

Mr. Moree was a longtime employee of the Bait & Tackle Shop and attended Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary 'Susie' Casteel Moree; one son, William R. 'Bob' Moree, Jasper; his mother, Mary Bell Chambers Moree Whitener, South Pittsburg, Tenn.; one sister Linda Foster, South Pittsburg; one brother G.W. Moree Jr., Jasper.

Services will be today at 3 p.m. at Sequatchie Valley Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Middleton officiating.

Burial will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.

Marjorie Nelson
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Marjorie B. Nelson died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 81.

Arrangements will be announced by Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Dawn Marie Rogers died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, in a local hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.

Lester Scarbrough
PIKEVILLE, Tenn. - Lester Blaine Scarbrough died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, in a Pikeville hospital. He was 66.

Services will be held today at 10 a.m. CST at Putnam-Reed Funeral Home with Delbert Rains officiating.

Burial will be in Blankenship cemetery.

Rebecca Sweeton
WINCHESTER, Tenn. - Rebecca True King Sweeton died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, in a Chattanooga hospital. She was 64.

She was formerly of Gruetli-Laager Tenn., and the widow of Fred King.

Survivors include her husband, Bernice Ray Sweeton; two sons, Gary King, Gruetli-Laager and Tim King, Live Oak, Fla.; one daughter, Sherry Jenno, Whitwell, Tenn.; stepchildren, Denise, Jeff, Robert and James Sweeton, and Teresa Griffith; two sisters, Billie Baggett, Evansville, Tenn., and Joy Morgan, Jasper; three grandchildren; and 14 step-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Layne Funeral Home in Palmer Tenn., with the Rev. Stacy Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Griffiths Creek cemetery.

Visitation will be today after 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Evelyn Thompson
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Evelyn Jean Crystal Faye Thompson died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 57.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Clifford Craven officiating.

Burial will be in Fort Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be today one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

William Ashley
William 'Bill' Glenn Ashley of Red Bank died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 63.

Mr. Ashley had lived in Jamestown, Ind., before moving to Red Bank.

He was retired from Lucey Boiler and was a Marine veteran of the Korean War, a member of Red Bank Baptist Church and an avid ham radio operator with the calls sign WB4NWR.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Ashley; one daughter, Teresa Ashley Holmes, Houston, Texas; one son, David C. Ashley, Red Bank; one sister, Donna Palacio, Goshen, Ind.; one brother, Joseph Roush, St. Helen, Mich.; and four granddaughters.

Services will be Wednesday at 9 p.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with Dr. Fred Steelman officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sisters of Charity at Memorial Hospital of Chattanooga.

Gordon Balch
Gordon L. Balch of Rossville died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, at a local hospital. He was 74.

He was a native of Huntsville, Ala., a truck driver for Yellow Freight Systems, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a Baptist.

Survivors include his son, Jerry Balch, Chattanooga; one daughter, Linda Hinkle, Rossville; two brothers, Harry and Roscoe Balch, Huntsville; one sister, Edith Jones, Huntsville; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road, with the Rev. Ronnie Childress officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Clyde Beard
Clyde A. Beard of Red Bank died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at his home. He was 86.

Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home, Coulter Chapel, with the Rev. Everett Gossett officiating.

Burial will be at Chattanooga Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends today one hour before the service at Coulter Chapel.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 165 Hamm Road, Chattanooga, TN 37405.
