Joan Bonner
Joan Bonner died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at a local hospital. She was 47.

She was a member of New United Baptist Church, a former employee of Community Development Corp., and attended Tennessee Wesleyan College.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Swafford.

Survivors include her father, Charlie Swafford; two children, Charles Spencer, Virginia Beach, Va., and Fanta Bonner, Chattanooga; three brothers, Paul Hickman, Chattanooga, Earl Hickman, Bakewell, Tenn., and Eugene Roberts, Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Beverly Robison, Atlanta; and Wilma Taylor, Ooltewah; stepsisters, Mary Kate Floyd, Debora Wilkerson, Marion Blackwell, Maxie Swafford and Ewdine Swafford; stepbrothers, Charles L. Morris and Bryant Martin; all of Chattanooga; and four grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Hill A.M.E. Zion Church in Bakewell, with the Rev. McKinley Holloway officiating.

Burial will be in Bakewell Community cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Jessie Collier
Jessie Collier died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 83.

She was retired from Lovemans Department Store. She was the widow of William Amos Collier and the sister of the late Aline Grimes.

Survivors include a niece, DeLoise Sanders; two nephews, Ross Grimes Jr., and Lee David Grimes; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Ingram officiating.

Burial will be in Lakewood East cemetery.

The body will be at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home after noon today.

Alice Cowan
Alice Cowan died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at her home.

Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Annie Cooper
Annie Robinson 'Anne' Cooper died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, in a local health care facility. She was 73.

She was a longtime resident of Ringgold, attended the Church of Christ and was a retired private duty nurse.

She was the widow of Roy Cooper Sr. and the sister of Arthur and Clyde Robinson.

Survivors include one son, Roy Cooper Jr., Ringgold; one brother, Bill Robinson, Chattanooga; one sister, Dot Zavis, Vienna, Va.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

There will be no visitation at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway, which is in charge of arrangements.

Nathaniel Diamond
Nathaniel Louis Diamond died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 63.

A graveside funeral will be held today at 2 p.m. at Chattanooga National cemetery with Rabbi Josef Davidson officiating.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 850 Fort Wood Place, Chattanooga, TN 37403.

Arrangements are by J. Avery Bryan Funeral Home.

LaFrieda Fields
LaFrieda Fields died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at a local hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home.

Edna Fletcher
Edna L. Fletcher died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 76.

The Spring City, Tenn., native had lived most of her life in the Chattanooga area.

She was a member of Morris Hill Baptist Church and was the widow of Silas L. Fletcher.

Survivors include six sons, Silas L. Fletcher Jr., West Palm Beach, Fla., A.C., Martin L., Steve, David, and Dennis Fletcher, all of Chattanooga; four daughters, Barbara Strickland and Martha Jo Looney, both of Chattanooga, Joyce Daugherty, Soddy-Daisy, and Pamela Fletcher, Pompano Beach, Fla; one brother, Charles Smith, Marietta, Ga.; two sisters, Peggy Thompson, Crossville, Tenn., and Margaret Fann, Marietta; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East, with the Rev. Tim Kruzan officiating.

Visitation will be today from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Dorothy Fryar
Dorothy Billingsley Fryar of Rossville died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at her home. She was 81.

She was a native of Cleveland, Tenn., but had lived in the Chattanooga area for a number of years.

She was a member of East Ridge United Methodist Church, formerly St. James United Methodist, for 53 years and the United Methodist Women. In the past, she had served as coordinator for the Methodist Youth Fellowship, mission coordinator and was an active member of the Prayer Band.

While living in Cleveland, she as an active member of the Golden Age Club at the Walker Street Community Center.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Don (Dot) Fullam, Chattanooga; two sisters, Mary Ruth Murphy, Chattanooga, and Arlene Stansberry, Cleveland; one brother, the Rev. Walter Billingsley, Cleveland; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Fort Hill cemetery with the Rev. Tom Tucker officiating.

Visitation will be today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Joe Hannah
Joe C. Hannah died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, in Knoxville. He was 93.

He was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, was self-employed in the lumber industry and had been employed as a security guard at Erlanger Hospital.

Mr. Hannah was a member of Bartlebaugh Baptist Church, a former member of Oakwood Baptist Church and the Harrison Masonic Lodge 199 F&AM.;

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Holder Hannah; two sons, James F. Hannah and Joe C. Hannah Jr.; and a daughter, Mary E. Lawrence.

Survivors include three sons, David E., and George E. Hannah, Chattanooga, and Kenneth B. Hannah, Ringgold; one daughter, Mary E. Lawrence; one brother, Charles E. Hannah; two sisters, Jessie Wilson and Alva Beard.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road, with the Rev. Ray Walker and the Rev. Sterling Jetton officiating.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.

The family will receive friends today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Leroy Hayes
Leroy Jeffery Hayes of Chickamauga died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, in a local hospital.

Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at the Rossville First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Robert Huff, the Rev. Tim Pond and the Rev. Dale Taylor officiating.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.

Walter Haynes
Walter L. Haynes died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, in a local health care facility. He was 81.

Arrangements will be announced by Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.

Clara Kennedy
Clara Cain Kennedy of Rossville died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, in an Atlanta health care facility. She was 88.

Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Laura Jean Myers-Ross officiating.

Burial will follow at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends today from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions can be made to McFarland United Methodist Church, 101 E. Gordon Ave., Rossville, GA 30741.

Martha Lowery
Martha Lowery died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1999. She was 69.

She was a member of Renaissance Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include one sister, Beverly Wilson, Chattanooga; two brothers, Amos Mathis, Cleveland, Ohio, and John Mathis, Knoxville; stepson, Bryant Lowery, Chattanooga; stepdaughter, Dawn Lowery, Atlanta.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. Stephen Crymes officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hills cemetery.

Inell Moore
Inell H. Moore died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999. She was 86.

Services will be held today 11 a.m. at the Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home, Avondale Chapel, with the Rev. Robert C. Watson officiating.

Burial will be in the Hickory Flat cemetery in Decatur, Tenn.

Charles Nance
Charles E. Nance, formerly of Chattanooga, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, in Bradenton, Fla. He was 72.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Palmetto, Fla..

Mr. Nance was a retired supervisor from Jobber's Warehouse in Chattanooga, a member of Harrison Masonic Lodge 114 F&AM;, Scottish Rite Valley of Chattanooga, Alhambra Shrine Temple and Elks Lodge 91.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Nance, Bradenton.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Chapel of Devotion with the Rev. David Bateman officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 2119, Bradenton, FL 34202 or the Alzheimer's Association, 350 Braden Ave., Sarasota, FL 34243.

There will be no visitation at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

George Patrick
George Edward Patrick died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at a local hospital. He was 54.

Arrangements will be announced by Crombie-Pinkard Funeral Service.

Billy Sansing
Billy D. Sansing died Friday Feb. 12, 1999, in Humboldt, Tenn. He was 69.

Graveside services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Chattanooga National cemetery with the Rev. Mel Crosson officiating.

The family will receive friends today from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Chapel.
