Lindsey Wright
Lindsey Henry Wright of Rossville died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 78.

A native of Fayette County, Ala., he had lived in the Rossville area most of his life.

He was retired from the Chattanooga Gas Co., where he served as superintendent of the measure department.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II and attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Men's Bible Class.

Survivors include his wife, Eloise Wright, Rossville; two sons, Miles Wright, Ringgold, and Hillary Wright, Marietta, Ga.; one daughter, Mershon Wright, Smyrna, Tenn.; two brothers, Paul Wright Jr., Fayette, Ala., and James Douglas Wright, Leeds, Ala.; one sister, Christine Bagwell, Birmingham; AND three grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry DeFore and the Rev. Randy Chesnut officiating.

Burial will be in Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park.

Visitation will be all day today at the funeral home.

Jacob Buckner
CHARLESTON, Tenn. - Jacob Alexander Buckner died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. He was 5.

Jacob was born in East Ridge, Tenn., had resided in Charleston most of his life, and attended Englewood Christian Church.

Survivors include his parents, Mike and Katy Buckner; and a brother, Nicholas James Buckner, all of Charleston; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Roach, Englewood, and Robert Buckner and Barbara Brannon, Etowah.

Graveside services will be today at 10 a.m. at McMinn Memory Gardens with minister David Fasig and lay speaker Harlan Dangherty officiating.

Arrangements are by Bordwine Funeral Home.

Willis Caldwell
GRUETLI-LAAGER, Tenn. - Willis E. Caldwell died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at his home. He was 81.

Survivors include four sons, Robert, Alton, Stanley and Ricky Caldwell, all of Gruetli-Laager; three daughters, Clara Mitchell, Pikeville, Tenn., Evelyn Lockhart, Monteagle, Tenn., Joyce Hill, Gruetli-Laager; two brothers, Lester Caldwell, Florida, and Charlie Caldwell, Kentucky; 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Layne Funeral Home with the Rev. Rodney Campbell and the Rev. David Caldwell officiating.

Burial will be in Burketts Chapel cemetery .

Bobby Coe
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Bobby 'Cool' Coe died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 55.

Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Dunn officiating.

Burial will be in Corinth Baptist Church cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Johnnie Green
ETOWAH, Tenn. - Johnnie Odean Green died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 68.

She was a native of Fort Payne, Ala., and was the mother of the late Johnny Allen Green.

Survivors include two sisters, Ann Wallace and Patricia Bronson, Orange Park, Fla.; one brother, Bennie Harris, Paris, Tenn.

Graveside services will be today at 1 p.m. at McMinn Memory Gardens.

There will be no visitation at Bordwine Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

John Hamilton
NIOTA, Tenn. - John A. Hamilton died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at his home. He was 92.

Mr. Hamilton served 36 years as teacher and principal in several schools in the McMinn County School System.

He was a graduate of McMinn County High School and Tennessee Wesleyan College. He was an active member and Sunday school teacher at Wesleyanna Methodist Church. He had been a member of New Providence Masonic Lodge 128 F&AM; in Maryville, Tenn., since 1943, and was a charter member of McMinn County Rescue Squad.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Moore Hamilton.

Survivors include one daughter, Glenda Edington, Maryville; two sons, Bill and Dan Hamilton, Lenoir City, Tenn.; one brother, Lloyd Hamilton, Watertown, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Services will be today at 7:30 p.m. at Jerry Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Denton officiating.

Burial will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Cedar Grove cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Harold Henderson
DECATUR, Tenn. - Harold Laymon Henderson of Knoxville died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at his home. He was 75.

He was a member of the Christian Church in Knoxville, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include two sons, David Henderson, Ten Mile, Tenn., and Morris Henderson, Knoxville; three brothers, Hillard Henderson, California, Paul Henderson, Maryville, Tenn., and Park Henderson, Knoxville; one sister, Evelynda Castle, Falls Church, Va.; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Woodlawn cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Berry's Funeral Home, Knoxville.

Bill McCallister
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Bill J. McCallister died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, in a Murfreesboro, Tenn., hospital. He was 79.

He was a veteran of World War II, having fought in the battles of Ardennes Forrest, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was the recipient of three bronze stars and was also awarded a citation for honesty and faithful service to his country.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include two daughters, Sheila Studdard, and Jane Wheeler, both of Athens, Tenn.; one son, William Donald McCallister, Hope Hull, Ala.; three sisters, Margaret Torrence and Ethel Tilson, Englewood, Tenn., and Mary McCallister, Athens; one brother, John McCallister, Athens.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Englewood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cindy Baxter officiating.

There will be no visitation at Bordwine Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Marvin McColpin
APISON, Tenn. - Marvin Raymond McColpin died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at his home. He was 89.

Services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Peter Reed officiating.

Burial will be in Collegedale Memorial Park.

Hershel Peoples
KIMBALL, Tenn. - Hershel Lyles Peoples died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, at his home. He was 85.

He was a member of Marion Lodge 515 F&AM;, Carpenter's Local 1608, Woodmen of the World, and a member of South Pittsburg First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Estelle B. Peoples, Kimball, two daughters, Gertrude P. Farmer, Hixson, and Pauline P. Clepper, Kimball, Tenn.; one son, Ernest 'Ernie' D. Peoples, Georgetown, Tenn.; three brothers, Allen and Leonard Peoples, New Hope, Tenn., and Wallace Peoples, South Pittsburg; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Rogers Funeral Home, South Pittsburg, with the Rev. Jeff Lane and the Rev. William D. Fox officiating.

Burial will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be today from 3 to 9 p.m. CST at the funeral home.

Zora Raines
ALEXANDER, Va. - Zora Pearson Raines died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, in a Virginia hospital. She was 80.

Formerly of Pelham Valley, Tenn., she was a Methodist, and had worked at Alexander Hospital/First Belvoir Elementary School as a registered nurse.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Raines Sr., and a son, John W. Raines Jr.

Survivors include one daughter, Diana Gail Lindley, Alexander, Va.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Red Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or Hospice of Northern Virginia.

Ida Rhoades
SOUTH PITTSBURG, Tenn. - Ida Marie Colvin Rhoades died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, in Soddy-Daisy. She was 83.

Arrangements will be announced by Sequatchie Valley Memorial Funeral Home in Jasper, Tenn.

William Rogers
BENTON, Tenn. - William Donald 'Jaybird' Rogers died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, in a Cleveland Hospital. He was 66.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home in Benton with the Rev. Jimmy Bettisa and the Rev. Thomas Triplett officiating.

Burial will be in Zion cemetery.

Emmett Rollins
JASPER, Tenn. - Emmett C. Rollins died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, in Monteagle, Tenn. He was 74.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Jones officiating.

Burial will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.

Gladys Sweeton
COALMONT, Tenn. - Gladys E. Sweeton died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, in a Chattanooga hospital. She was 90.

She was the mother of the late Frank Edward Sweeton and Loretta Sweeton, and a member of Coalmont Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Lillard Sweeton; daughter, Hazel Johnson, Coalmont; three sons, Carl Ray Sweeton, Flintstone, Ga., Vernon Sweeton, Lilburn, Ga., and Bobby G. Sweeton, Ringgold, Ga.; two sisters, Eddie Mae McCullough, Gruetli-Laager, Tenn., and Margaret Fletcher, Chattanooga; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Cumberland Funeral Home, Altamont, Tenn., with brother Ray Winton officiating.

Burial will be in Bonny Oaks cemetery.

Visitation will be today after 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
