Clinton Rawls
Clinton Rawls died Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998. He was 56.

Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Eddie Robinson
Eddie J. Robinson of Hixson died Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998, at his home. She was 90.

She was a member of Red Bank Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, David E. Robinson; daughter, Jewel Perez, Nevada; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Joe Weir officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Red Bank Church of Christ Benevolent Fund or Hospice of Chattanooga.

Katie Sheffield
Katie Mae Sheffield died Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at her home. She was 76.

Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Mabel Sheppard
Mrs. Mabel Sheppard died Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at her residence. She was 77.

She was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home.

Benny Williams
Benny Williams died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, in a local hospital. He was 63.

He served on the Hamilton County Rescue Squad for 42 years, was a former employee of the local Humane Society and had been a private investigator.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo Williams and Jewel Bishop Gates; one sister, Julia Woods; and a grandson.

Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Frommoethelydo, Vallejo, Calif., Carmen B. Daugherty and Dana D. Williams, both of Chattanooga; two sons, Romel A. Williams and Benji F. Williams, both of Atlanta; sister, Connie D. Gates, Chattanooga; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Chattanooga National cemetery.

The body will be at Taylor Funeral Home after noon today.

Sarah Woods
Sarah Virginia Woods of Rossville died Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998, at a local hospital. She was 87.

She was a native of Shelbyville, Tenn., and a longtime resident of Rossville.

She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and was retired from the Walker County Board of Education and Rossville High School.

She was the wife of the late Bart Woods.

Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Kammer, Harrison, Mary Anne Spencer, Chattanooga, Sherry Flegal, Ringgold, Virginia Jo Banzhaf, South Africa; sons, Robert L. 'Buddy' Woods, Chattanooga, and Eddy F. Woods, Florida; sister, Katherine Hall, Nashville; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road, with the Rev. Burt Banzhaf and the Rev. John Andrus officiating.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 5 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Greta Abraham
ATHENS, Tenn. - Greta Womble Abraham of Athens died early Sunday morning, Jan. 3, 1999, in an Athens hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Jerry Smith Funeral Home, Athens.

Hoyt Brock
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Hoyt H. Brock died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at his home. He was 76.

Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Thelma Coppinger
McMINNVILLE, Tenn. - Thelma Iola Coppinger died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at Raintree Manor, McMinnville. She was 82.

Services were today at 11 a.m. at Love-Cantrell & Cope Chapel.

Burial was at Philadelphia cemetery in Grundy County with William Wanamaker officiating.

Dorothy Dixon
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Dorothy Dixon died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1998, at her home. She was 74.

She was a native of Sheffield, Ala., a member of the East Side Church of Christ and the widow of Calvin Dixon.

Survivors include a daughter, Bobbi Miller, Killen, Ala.; a son, Ronald Dixon, Chattanooga, three brothers, Graham D. Raley, Cleveland, Joe Raley, Bayminette, Ala., and William E. Raley Jr., Sewanee, Tenn.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be held today at 7 p.m. at Fike Funeral Home with minister Richard May officiating.

Private burial will be held Tuesday.

The family will receive friends today from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

William Fletcher
OLD FORT, Tenn. - William D. Fletcher died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at a local hospital. He was 75.

He was retired from Masterpiece Carpet Mills and was a Baptist.

Survivors include two brothers, Roy Fletcher and Richard Fletcher, both of Old Fort, and a sister, Grace Finnell, Cleveland, Tenn.

Services were Sunday at the Wildwood Chapel of Buckner-Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. Randall Headrick officiating.

Burial was in Boanerges Baptist Church cemetery.

Frankie Greene
RICEVILLE, Tenn. - Frankie C. Fain Slaughter Greene died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at her home. She was 63.

Services were today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with Minister Jack Stampler officiating.

Burial will be in Cedar Grove cemetery.

Hazel B. Haggard
JASPER, Tenn. - Hazel B. Haggard died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999. She was 71.

Services were today at 2 p.m. at Glover Hill Church of God with the Rev. Don Stephens and the Rev. Wayne Winters officiating.

Burial was in Glovers Hill cemetery.

Arrangements are by Sequatchie Valley Memorial Funeral Home, Jasper.

William Humberd
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - William Ennis Humberd died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at a local nursing facility. He was 75.

Arrangements will be announced by Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.

Celia James
GRANDVIEW, Tenn. - Celia Clark James died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at a local hospital. She was 76.

She was a member of the Dogwood Baptist Church and was a former Sunday school teacher.

She was widowed by both Edgar Clark and Noel O. James.

Survivors include five sons, Boyd Clark, Soddy-Daisy, Joe Clark, Grandview, Harley Clark, Graysville, Larry Clark, Ooltewah, and Kenneth Clark, Spring City; four daughters, Linda Case, Canton, N.C., Wanda Porter, Chattanooga, Joyce Loveday and Joan Swafford, both of Grandview; a brother, Hoyal Holloway, Sale Creek; six sisters, Loretta Strickland, Anna Dee Parks, Vida Monday, Helen Parks, Metha Crawford, and LaPreil Reed, all of Spring City; three grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Wolf Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Randall Dye and the Rev. Jeff Elliott officiating.

Burial will be in the Spring City cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 1 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Vaughn Funeral Home.

Horace Jett Jr.
DALTON, Tenn. - Horace Greely 'Joe' Jett Jr., formerly of Dalton, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998. He was 73.

Services will be Tuesday in West Palm Beach.

Memorials may be made to the Carolyn Baptist Church, Dalton.

Dorsey Funeral Home, Lake Worth, Fla., is making the arrangements.

Love Funeral Home made the local arrangements.

James Lee
JASPER, Tenn. - James F. Lee died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999. He was 63.

Arrangements will be announced by Sequatchie Valley Memorial Funeral Home.

Frank Merriman
DUNLAP, Tenn. - Frank Merriman of the Fredonia community near Dunlap died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, at his home after a brief illness. He was 64.

Mr. Merriman was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Smith Merriman; his father, Claude Merriman; and two brothers, Thomas B. and Jessie Paul Merriman.

Mr. Merriman was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a retired Dunlap businessman.

Survivors include his mother, Beulah Land Merriman, Dunlap; a son, Lynn Merriman, Dunlap; a daughter, Lisa Barker, Dunlap; a brother, Fred Merriman, Battle Creek, Mich.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be held at 7 p.m. CST today at Ewton Funeral Home, Dunlap, with the Rev. Clyde Shankle officiating.

Burial will be in Camp cemetery.

The family was to receive friends today from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Camp cemetery.

Maggie Miller
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Maggie Miller died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, in a local hospital. She was 90.

Arrangements are by the Wildwood Chapel of Buckner-Rush Funeral Home, Cleveland.
