Funeral services for Ms. Larrine Allen, age 57, of Fayetteville, TN who passed away in the Huntsville Hospital on Sunday, August 03, 2008 will be conducted on Wednesday, August 06, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mayberry Street Church of Christ with Minister William Coffey officiating and the Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow in Brown's Temple Cemetery. Ms. Allen was a native of Lincoln Co, TN, she was the daughter of the late John & Sue Ella Buchanan Allen. She was retired from Amana and was a member of the Mayberry Street Church of Christ. Along with her parents, Ms. Allen was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Willie B. Allen & wife: Dorothy, John Roy Allen & wife: Mary Alice and a sister: Minnie Ruth Hedgespath & husband: William. Survivors include 5 sisters: Mary Ida Woodard, Annie McMullen, Gracie Gregory & husband: Jerry all of Fayetteville, TN, Robbie Sheffield of Tullahoma, TN, Ella Rae Wilkerson of Winchester, TN; 2 brothers: Bobby Allen & wife: Christine, Ardell Allen all of Fayetteville, TN; devoted and loving ex-sister-in-law: Loretta Allen, close friend: Kathey Bryson; several nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins & a host of friends. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, August 06, 2008 from 12:00 noon until time of the service at the Mayberry Street Church of Christ.

Ms. Rosa Mae Benson

April 06, 1914 - August 07, 2008

Funeral services Ms. Rosa Mae Benson, age 94, of Basel Drive, Huntsville, AL, who passed away Thursday, August 07, 2008 at her residence will be conducted on Saturday, August 09, 2008 in the Concord Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Elmer Alverson officiating. Burial will follow in the Taylor Cemetery. Ms. Benson was a native of Madison County, AL, she was the daughter of the late William Bradford & Margaret Ella Omohundro Benson, she was a Bookkeeper for Dunnavant's Department Store and a member of the Central Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a sister: Vera A. Benson of Huntsville, AL and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, August 09, 2008 from Noon until time of the service at the Concord Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Ms. Lucille Whitsett

July 28, 1924 - August 08, 2008

Graveside funeral services for Ms. Lucille Whitsett of Lewisburg, TN, formerly of Petersburg, TN who passed away Friday evening August 08, 2008 in the Marshall Medical Center will be conducted on Monday, August 11, 2008 in the Old Orchard Cemetery with Bro. Don Hudson officiating with burial to follow. The Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home is assisting the family. Ms. Whitsett was a native of Lincoln County, TN, she was the daughter of the late Jessie Lee & Bessie Hampton Whitsett. She was disabled. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Lou Ella Porter & Sarah Jefferies; a brother: J.W. ( Buck) Whitsett. Ms. Whitsett is survived by 2 sisters: Rosa Lee Moore of Fayetteville, TN, & Margaret Harris of Shelbyville, TN; several nieces, nephews, & cousins. Visitation with the family will be on Monday, August 11, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home.

Mr. Clydie T. Bunn

August 27, 1934 - August 17, 2008

Funeral services for Mr. Clydie T. Bunn, age 73, of Toney, AL, who passed away Sunday, August 17, 2008 at the Huntsville Hospital, will be conducted Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Friendship Stateline Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Rusty Lincoln & Rev. Charles Marable officiating and Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow in Stateline Cemetery. Mr. Bunn was a native of Lincoln Co., TN, son of the late Leonard Thomas & Daisy Gertrude Cothren Bunn. He was a pest control technician and a member of the Friendship Stateline Freewill Baptist Church. Along with his parents, Mr. Bunn was preceded in death by 1 grandson: Jason Hamm and 1 brother: Homer Bunn. Survivors include his wife: Irene Bunn of Toney, AL; 3 daughters: Sybil Cole of Elkmont, AL, Cathern 'Cat' Finchum of Tracy City, TN, Reba Hamm of Toney, AL; 2 sons: Thomas Bunn of Toney, AL, Clayton Bunn of Athens, Al; 1 step-sister: Louise Marlow of Fayetteville, TN; 4 brothers: Carlton Poole, J.W. Poole both of Hazel Green, AL, Roy Poole of New Market, AL, Bobby Poole of Fayetteville, TN; 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be Monday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Friendship Stateline Freewill Baptist Church.

Mr. Eugene C. 'Tood' Collins

April 12, 1913 - August 18, 2008

Funeral services for Mr. Eugene C. 'Tood' Collins, age 95, of Flintville, TN, who passed away Monday, August 18, 2008 at the Lincoln Skill Care Center will be conducted on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Basham officiating. Burial will follow in the Flintville Cemetery. Mr. Collins was a native of Albertville, AL, the son of the late Samuel Calhoun & Ola Coe Collins. He was self-employed in the Auto Repair Business, and was a member of the Flintville Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife: Tina "Tiny" Collins; a son: James Ulysses Collins and a infant son: Carl Gene Collins; 2 sisters & 4 brothers. Mr. Collins is survived by 2 daughters: Fledra ( Ernest ) Farmer of Brentwood, TN and June ( Bob ) Sanders of Huntsville, AL; brother: Bobby Collins; a special niece: Margaret Thornton of Fayetteville, TN; several other nieces & nephews; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening, August 19, 2008 at the chapel of the Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home.

Mrs. Marvarine McAllister

September 12, 1932 - August 22, 2008

Graveside services for Mrs. Marvarine McAllister, age 75, of Meridian, MS. who passed away Friday, August 22, 2008 will be conducted on Monday, August 25, 2008 at 2: 00 p.m. in the Kirkland Cemetery with burial to follow. The Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home is assisting the family. Mrs. McAllister was a native of Lincoln County, TN; she was the daughter of the late Walter & Lelia Maddox McAlister. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son: Mickey Culpepper & a sister: Edith Hodge. She is survived by 5 sisters: Robbie L. George & Martha Coble both of Fayetteville, TN, Barbara Smith of Flintville, TN, & Margaret Walden of Birmingham, AL; a brother: Hurley McAlister of Fayetteville, TN. 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation at the funeral home prior to the service.

Mr. Benny Louis Gardner

Funeral services for Mr. Benny Louis Gardner, age 66, of Sauk Village, IL who passed away at his residence on Saturday, August 23, 2008 will be conducted on Friday, August 29, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the Huntland Pentecostal Church of Jesus with Pastor Malcolm Gardner officiating. The Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home is assisting the family. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Vanntown, TN. Mr. Gardner was a native of Lincoln Co, TN, he was son of the late Luther and Wilma Louise Morgan Gardner. He is retired Conductor for the Illinois Central Railroad and a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister: Martha Lentz. Mr. Gardner is survived by his wife: Barbara Gardner; a daughter: Sharon M. Roeder; 3 sons: Terry L. Gardner, Scotty B. Gardner, and Michael C. Gardner all of Sauk Village, IL; 3 sisters: Imogene Stone and husband: Vernon of Elora, TN, Patsy Bradley and husband: Smitty, Ava Gardner all of Flintville, TN; 4 brothers: Terry Gardner and wife Lorrie of Knox, IN, Luther Gardner of Elora, TN, Greg Gardner and wife: Joyce of Rome, GA, and Timmy Gardner and wife Sui of Colorado Springs, CO; 4 grandchildren: Alexander, Arianna, Aubree & Audree Gardner. Visitation with the family will be Friday, August 29, 2008 from 11 a.m. until time of service at the Huntland Pentecostal Church of Jesus.

Mrs. Janie Mae Meeks

January 27, 1935 - August 28, 2008

Funeral services for Mrs. Janie Mae Meeks, age 73, of Fayetteville, TN who passed away Thursday, August 28, 2008 at the Baptist Hospital in Nashville, TN will be conducted on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Meeks was a native of Lincoln County, TN, she was the daughter of the late B. Matt & Mattie Naomi Mearse Taylor. She worked as a seamstress for Serbin Fashions and was a member of the West End Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter: Nancy " Dump Truck " Randolph; sister: Hanner Lee Melson who died the same day as Mrs. Meeks; brothers: Wilson Taylor, Franklin Taylor, Bobby Taylor, & Billy Ray Taylor. She is survived by her husband: Wayne Meeks of Fayetteville, TN; daughter: Pam Fitch of Hazel Green, AL; 4 sisters: Robbie Bartlett of Huntland, TN, Sue Smith of Flintville, TN, Mildred Bunn of Shelbyville, TN, and Sally May of Belvidere, TN; 1 brother: James Taylor of Flintville, TN; 5 grandchildren: Diane Richards, Heather Britton, Jason Bunn, Brandy Fitch, and Brad Fitch; 7 great-grandchildren: Chase Britton, Megan Britton, Josh Bunn, Delee Feltman, Bailey Baker, Tristan Fitch, and Briley Fitch. Visitation with the family will be Friday evening August 29, 2008 from 4 until 8 p.m. in the Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home.

Mr. Clarence Edward Land, Jr.

October 28, 1919 - August 30, 2008

Clarence Edward Land, Jr., age 88, of Hazel Green, AL, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 30, 2008. Clarence is survived by his wife of 67 years, Inez C. Land; 1 son: Larry Joe Land and wife: Ann; 2 grandchildren: Tony Land and wife: Barsha, Michelle Land-Shaw and husband: Donny; 2 sisters: Edna Armstrong and Jimmie Dot Davis all of Hazel Green, AL. Mr. Land retired from Olin Mathison Chemical Company on Redstone Arsenal. After retirement, he enjoyed serving his community in many ways and spending time with his family, sharing many activities. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Concord Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Buddy Alverson and Rev. Lon Ostryzscki officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Monday, September 1, 2008 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Concord Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
