Mrs. Leanna L. Hardy died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at a local hospital. She was 64.
Services will be today at 1:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with pastor Steve Underwood officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
Odis Heard
Odis Heard died in a local hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998. He was 65.
Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.
Odessa Holly
Odessa Holly died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at a local health care facility. She was 66.
Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.
Ernest Jett
Ernest Edward 'Buddy' Jett of Rossville died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at his residence. He was 74.
He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and was a retired employee of Garland-Sherman Masonry Co. and had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of Calvary Memorial Baptist Church and Brick Layers Union Local No. 6.
Mr. Jett was preceded in death by a son, Ernest Jett Jr.; and a brother, Oscar Jett Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Black Jett; two daughters, Patsy Sisk, Chattanooga, and Sandra Pruitt, Rossville; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Calvary Memorial Baptist Church, Ringgold, with the Rev. Arthur M. Sisk Jr. officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.
The body will be at the church one hour before the service.
Arrangements are by W.L. Wilson and Sons Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe.
Samuel Marsh
Samuel Marsh died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, in a local hospital. He was 57.
He was a member of Olivet Baptist Church.
Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home, Chattanooga.
Max Pierce Sr.
Max T. Pierce Sr. died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at his home. He was 69.
He was a Baptist and was owner of Pierce Electric and Plumbing. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Marine Corps.
He was the sister of the late Neleane Harrison.
Survivors include a son, Max Pierce Jr., Ringgold, Ga.; a daughter, Joy Radcliffe, East Ridge, Tenn.; his mother, Lavina Pierce, East Ridge; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Dean officiating.
Burial will be in the United States National cemetery.
The family was to recieve friends from 2 to 8 p.m. today in the East Chapel of the funeral home.
William Porter
William Lee Porter of Chattanooga died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 62.
Arrangements will be announced by Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel.
Edith Potter
Edith Holt Potter died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, in a local hospital. She was 79.
She attended Silvercrest Baptist Church and formerly worked at T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Fred Potter; four brothers, Otto, Jack, Charlie and John Holt; and two sisters, Ethel Ross and Nellie Snyder.
Survivors include two daughters, Tommye Spietz, Flintstone, Ga., and Joyce Perry, East Ridge; two sons, Larry Potter, Lake Jackson, Texas, and Don Potter, Virginia Beach, Va.; a stepson, Charles Potter, Arizona; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road, with the Rev. Clifford Owenby officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
The family will recieve friends today from 2 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
George Rennex
George Rennex of Chattanooga died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, in a local health care facility.
He was a native of Baltimore, Md., and moved to Chattanooga 21/2 years ago from Sacramento, Calif.
He was a retired technical writer with Raytheon Company.
Survivors include four sons, Brian Rennex, Gaithersburg, Va., Wayne Rennex, Harrisburg, Pa., Ross Rennex and Mark Rennex, both of Sharon, Mass.; three daughters, Diana Irwin, Chickamauga, Ga., Marilyn Egbert, Columbia, Mass., and Stephanie O'Brien, Sharon, Mass.; a brother, Milton Rennex, Lincoln, R.I.; a sister, Janet Rennex Hefferman, Lake Havasa City, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
The body was taken to Mountcastle Funeral Home, Occoquan, Va.
Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway, Fort Oglethorpe.
Dora Simmons
Dora Simmons, a partner in Simmons Auto Supply, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at a local hospital.
She was a member of Central Church of Christ.
Survivors include a sister, Mabel Simmons, Chattanooga, and a brother, L.T. Simmons, Chattanooga.
Services will be today at 1:30 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the ministers David Schonhoff and Gene Arnold officiating.
Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens East.
