Lora Styles
Lora Mae Styles of Rossville died in Bellflower, Calif., Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998. She was 89.

Arrangements will be announced by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home, Rossville.

Rosa Suggs
Mrs. Rosa Lee Suggs died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at a local nursing home. She was 68.

Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home.

Florrie Swafford
Florrie Swafford died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at a local health care facility. She was 87.

She was a member of the Rose of Sharon Baptist Church.

Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Frank Thompson
Frank Thompson died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at a local hospital. He was 63.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe, with the Rev. Tom McGuirt officiating.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens West.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation.

Arrangements by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home.

Ernest Bailey
Ernest Bailey died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 80.

Services will be held today at noon at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. Leo Thompson, the Rev. H. Wright and other ministers officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.

Visitation will be today one hour before the service at the church.

Arrangements are by the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Juanita Bird
Juanita Estelle Nicholas Bird of Columbia, S.C., died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, in Palmetto Baptist Medical Center. She was 78.

She was born in Chattanooga, a daughter of the late Joseph J. Nicholas and Lillian E. Light.

She was the widow of Lewis Melton Bird.

She was retired from the real estate land and development business and was a member of Windsor Lake Church of Christ.

Mrs. Bird was actively involved in the political arena while living in Tennessee and South Carolina. She also was a foster parent.

Survivors include one son, Joseph Melton Bird, Columbia; one daughter, Lori Bailey, Dayton, Tenn.; one brother, Robert H. Nicholas, Washinton; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at the Winsor Lake Church of Christ in Columbia.

Bill Boling
William W. 'Bill' Boling of Franklin, Tenn., died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, in a Nashville hospital. He was 68.

The Chattanooga native was a self-employed general contractor and realtor.

Mr. Boling was a member of Calvary Christian Fellowship in Franklin, and was formerly in the Naval Reserve.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita 'Nita' Hannah Boling, Franklin; one son, Bill Boling Jr., Nashville; three daughters, Sandra Greenwood, Brentwood, Tenn., Cathy Jean Conner, Lexington, Ky., and Lisa Satchell, Franklin; his father, Wallace Henry Boling, Chattanooga; one sister, Jean Wattenbarger, Chattanooga; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home in Franklin, with Terry Burchyett, Billy Roy Moore and Tony Cooper officiating.

Burial will be in Williamson Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home in Franklin.

Doris Brown
Doris E. Brown died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at her home. She was 77.

Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home.

James Case
James N. 'Jim' Case died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999. He was 69.

He was a member of St. Elmo United Methodist Church, St. Elmo Lodge 773 F&AM; and Firefighters Local 820.

Mr. Case was a retired lieutenant from the Chattanooga Fire Department after 28 years and a veteran of the National Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Drinnon Case; two sons, Wayne Case, Chattanooga and Alan Case, Trenton, Ga.; one daughter, Elaine O'Dell, Chattanooga; two sisters, Evelyn Jones, Chattanooga and Betty Golliher, Birmingham, Ala.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the West Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Spangler officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Elmo United Methodist Church Food Pantry, 4626 St. Elmo Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37409.

Calvin Chastain
Calvin T. Chastain died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 90.

The Pickens County, Ga., native lived most of his life in the Chattanooga area.

He was retired from Stutz Construction Co.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Roxie Josephine Chastain, a son, J.P. Chastain, and a grandson, Eddie Chastain.

Survivors include two sons, Alford 'Hap' Chastain, Ooltewah, and Russell Chastain, Soddy-Daisy; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be today at 2 p.m. at Lakewood Memory Gardens East.

The family will receive friends today from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Annette Clark
Annette B. Clark died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at her home. She was 59.

Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home.

Alma Crane
Alma P. Crane of Springfield, Va., died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, in a hospital there.

Graveside services will be today at 11 a.m. in Forest Hills cemetery.

Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Mary Craze
Mary Frances Nelson Craze of East Ridge died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, in a local hospital.

She was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area, and a Signal Mountain resident for 30 years. She was a member of Frawley Road Baptist Church, a former member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church and a Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star 453, Signal Mountain.

Survivors include her husband, Alvin Craze; one brother, Charles Nelson, Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Dean officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Annie Davis
Annie Lee Davis of Fort Worth, Texas, died Monday, Jan. 26, 1999, in a hospital there. She was 76.

She was a Baptist.

Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Lovell, Arlington, Texas; three sons, Paul, Gene and Johnny Johnson, all of Alvarado, Texas; two sisters, Lena Higgins, Soddy-Daisy and Marie Burne, Hixson; 22 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home, with Dr. Clankston Freeman officiating.

Burial will be in Smyrna Cemeteyr.

Robert Divver
Robert Q. Divver, who retired as a hearing officer and investigator after 31 years with the U.S. Postal Service, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 79.

Services will be today at 11:30 a.m. at Jones Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Seay and the Rev. Mark Womack officiating.

Burial with full military honors will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.

There will be no visitation at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
