Paul Shadrick
SPENCER, Tenn. - Paul W. Shadrick died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at his home. He was 63.

Services will be today at 3 p.m. CST at Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Raymond Bryant officiating.

Burial will be in Griffith Creek cemetery.

Visitation will be today after 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bill Turner
JASPER, Tenn. - Bill David Turner died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at his home. He was 48.

He was a graduate of Marion County High School and had been a Master Patrolman with the Chattanooga Police Department with 13 years of service.

Survivors include his parents, William and Helen Turner, Jasper; one daughter, Angela Smith, Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; two sisters, Cindy Ray, Knoxville, and Terri Church, South Pittsburg, Tenn.; and one grandson.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. CST at Rogers Funeral Home with the Rev. James Patterson officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Grove cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Alzheimers Association, 6925 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, Tenn. 37421.

Jean Williams
GEORGETOWN, Tenn. - Jean Williams died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at her home. She was 61.

She was employed with Thomas & Bettis Company.

She was a member of the Stanfield Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her father, Russell Saffles.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald Williams; her mother, Lucille Sweet, Georgetown; four sons, Jeff Manery, Cleveland, Tenn., David Williams, Georgetown, Stephen Williams and Michael Williams, North Carolina; three daughters, Gwendelyn Garvey, Dalton, Ga., Sharon Thurman, Cleveland, and Ehlanda Ritchie, New Mexico; one brother, Tony Saffles, Fort Oglethorpe; two sisters, Fay Silvers and Lois Bradford, Georgetown; 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at the Stanfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Marr and the Rev. Ronnie Cardin officiating.

Burial will be in Swafford cemetery.

Arrangements are by Grissom Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Martha Ashley
Martha Ashley died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 77.

She was co-founder of Ashley Ambulance Service, operating it for a number of years.

Services will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Johnson officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dorothea Barnes
Dorothea Mae Goodwin Barnes died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at her home.

A memorial service will be held today at 3 p.m. at St. Elmo Seventh-day Adventist Church.

There will be no visitation at Wann Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Mildred Beene
Mildred Lamb Beene of Jacksonville, Fla., died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999. She was 92.

She was a native of Chattanooga and was preceded in death by her husband, John Francis Beene.

Survivors include one son, Joe Francis Beene, Fairfax, Va.; one daughter, Dianne Beene Luker, Jacksonville; two sisters, Betty Lamb Acton, Miami, and Evelyn Lamb Martin, Oak Ridge, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.

Graveside services were Saturday in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Dr. Bill Owens officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ridgedale Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, 1831 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, Tenn. 37421.

Arrangements were made by Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel.

Verda Carter
Verda Carter died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 88.

She was a native of Jackson County, Ala., and she lived in Chattanooga since 1952.

She was a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church and was retired from Buster Brown where she worked for 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Carter.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Smith, Flat Rock, Ala.; three sons, Robert Carter, Flat Rock, Glenn Carter and Joseph Carter, Chattanooga; three sisters, Sybil Howard and Ella Payne, Chattanooga; one brother, Grady Cooper, Trenton, Ga.; 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Lane Funeral Home, South Crest Chapel.

Burial will be in Lakewood South Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends today after 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

William Crockett
William Joseph 'Joe' Crockett died Jan. 23, 1999, at his home.

Arrangements will be announced by Turner Funeral Home, Highway 58 Chapel.

Weltha Hancock
Weltha Hancock of Soddy-Daisy died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, at her home. She was 69.

She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was a retired employee of Signal Knitting Mill.

She was a past worthy matron of Daisy O.E.S. No. 328 and was a Lady Shriner.

Survivors include her husband, John Hancock; one daughter, Nancy Grant; two sons, Mickey Hancock and Donald Hancock; and one sister, Loucille Keltch, Soddy-Daisy.

Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Lynn Carroll officiating.

Burial will be in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens Masonic Garden.

The family will receive friends today at 1 p.m.

John Hart
John A. Hart of Soddy-Daisy died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 72.

He was born in Deerborn, Mich., and had lived in Soddy-Daisy since 1997.

He was a retired Sergeant Major from the United States Army and he had worked for the Culver Academy for 12 years and Meals on Wheels in Grand Rapids, Mich.

He was a Catholic and was a member of the VFW in Michigan.

Survivors include his former wife, Evelyn Hart; and his mother, Anna C. Hart, Soddy-Daisy.

A funeral mass will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by Lane Funeral Home, Coulter Chapel.

Anna Howard
Anna Deloney Howard died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 84.

She was born in Leighton, Ala., and moved to Chattanooga four years ago.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Tuscumbia, Ala., and was a graduate of Montevallo College.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Howard.

Survivors include one son, Edwin G. Howard, Chattanooga.

Services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. CST at First Presbyterian Church in Tuscumbia.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia.

Local arrangements are by Lane Funeral Home, Coulter Chapel.
