Tennessee, U.S., Delayed Birth Records, 1869-1909
Landel Lamb
Landel J. Lamb of Hixson died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at his home. He was 67.

The Bledsoe County native was the son of the late Walter and Mary Elizabeth Douglas Lamb.

He was retired from Velsicol Chemical, a member of Central Baptist Church, the Instrument Society of America and the International Association of Electrical Inspectors.

Survivors include his wife, Mamie Harmon Lamb; two daughters, Sherry Rumfelt and Teresa Eads, both of Chattanooga; one sister, Euna Williams, Florence, Ala.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Sullins Lamb officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

William Linkens
William W. Linkens Jr. of Brooklyn, N.Y., and a former resident of Chattanooga, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999. He was 51.

Survivors include one daughter, Tanika M. Williams, Nashville; one son, William W. Linkens III, Tacoma Park, Md.; mother, Teresa Linkens; one brother, Richard Linkens, New York; one sister, Patricia Murgo, Virginia; and three grandchildren.

Arrangements will be made by John J. Healey Funeral Home, Brooklyn.

Dennis Lyle
Dennis Lamar 'Red' Lyle Sr. died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 30.

Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at World's Church of the Living God with Bishop W.C. Hunter officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hills cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Clarence McEntire
Clarence Eugene 'Mac' McEntire of Long Beach, Calif., formerly of Chattanooga, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, in a veterans hospital in California. He was 72.

He was a decorated veteran of World War II.

Survivors include two daughters, Jenny Wilson and Shana Gann, both of Chattanooga; four sons, Robert McEntire, California, Tom McEntire, Texas, and Randy and Steve McEntire, both of Oklahoma; two sisters, Bess Treadway, LaFayette, Ga., and Margaret Simpson, Fort Oglethorpe; two brothers, Bob McEntire, Long Beach, and Bud McEntire, Las Vegas, Nev.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. McEntire will be cremated in Long Beach.

Services will be held at a later date in Chattanooga.

Agnes Miles
Agnes J. Miles died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at her Flintstone, Ga., home. She was 77.

The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at St. Elmo United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Smith and the Rev. Bruce Spangler officiating.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

Joseph Paris
Joseph Paris died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, in a local nursing home. He was 76.

Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home.

Paul Phillips
Paul Edwin Phillips of Rossville died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 83.

Arrangements will be announced by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

Barbara Posey
Barbara Jean Posey of Harrison died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at her home. She was 50.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Bald Hill cemetery.

Sarah Rhodes
Sarah 'Jeep' Rhodes died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, in Huntsville, Ala.

Arrangements will be announced by Crombie-Pinkard Funeral Home.

John Rock
Ret. Major John Michael Rock of East Ridge, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 80.

He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, and American Legion Post 95.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Grant Rock.

Survivors include one son, Bruce Rock, Tampa, Fla.; two daughters, Lt. Col. Jacqueline Rock, Fairfield, Calif., and Mary Rock, California; two stepdaughters, Melinda Penny, Chattanooga, and Alecia Ball, Rossville, Ga.; and four grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Chattanooga National cemetery with the Rev. Mike Nolan and the Rev. Richard Rock officiating.

Visitation will be today from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Emma Stephenson
Emma Selvidge Stephenson of Soddy-Daisy died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 92.

She was a member of Soddy-Daisy United Methodist Church, the widow of J.R. Stephenson, and the mother of the late Inez Stephenson.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth and Larry Stephenson; three daughters, Ruth Cook, Marjorie Gravitt and Cheryl Morgan, all of Soddy-Daisy; three sisters, Anna Lasley and Thelma Cannon, Soddy-Daisy, and Louise Duke, Nashville; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Parker officiating.

Burial will be in Ware cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

William Suits
William Ernest Suits died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999. He was 81.

Services will be today at 2:30 p.m. at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Gregg officiating.

Burial will be in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

Percy Todd
Percy E. 'Chip' Todd of Cypress, Texas, formerly of Apison, Tenn., died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, in a Houston hospital. He was 43.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Plowman cemetery with the Rev. William C. Poister officiating.

Following the service the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of Apison United Methodist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, 1515 Holcombe Blvd., Box 103, Houston, TX 77030-4095.

Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.

Marvin Tucker
Marvin Edward Tucker of Rossville, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 72.

He was a native of Huntsville, Ala., but had lived in the Chattanooga and north Georgia areas for most of his life.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, having retired after 21 years of service. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Taiko M. Tucker; four daughters, Patsy Ormsby, Ringgold, Ga., Susan Gabbard and Joyce Almond, both of Rossville, and Joann Goforth, Cleveland, Tenn.; four sons, Edward Tucker, Falls Church, Va., David and Alan Tucker, Rossville, and Gary Tucker, El Paso, Texas; one sister, Christine White, Rossville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

Burial with full military honors will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.

Visitation will be today after 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
