Barbara Posey
Barbara Jean Posey of Harrison died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at her home. She was 50.

She was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area, a Baptist and a daughter of the late John and Jessie Lee Welch.

Survivors include her husband, Sidney G. Posey, Harrison; one daughter, Starla Posey, Chattanooga; five brothers, John and Arthur Welch, Ooltewah, and Ed, Steve and Charles Welch, all of Harrison; three sisters, Juanita Morgan, Georgetown, Tenn., and Norma Leamon and Pat Cagle, both of Harrison.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Bald Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Sarah Rhodes
Sarah 'Jeep' Rhodes died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, in Huntsville, Ala.

Arrangements will be announced by Crombie-Pinkard Funeral Home.

Cornelia Russey
Cornelia Russey of Signal Mountain died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at her home. She was 84.

Graveside services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Forest Hills cemetery with Georgia Eastman officiating.

There will be no visitation at the West Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

William Sentell
William Albert Sentell died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 74.

Formerly of Troy, Mich., he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was retired from United Parcel Service with 30 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Dawn Sentell; two stepdaughters, Karen Simeone and Kathleen Miller; and one stepson, Karl Teller.

Services will be private.

There will be no visitation at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2008 Charlotte, Ave., Nashville, TN 37203.

Thelma Stokes
Thelma Goodwin Stokes of St. Louis, formerly of Chattanooga, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999.

Arrangements will be announced by the Trammell Chapel of Hardwick & Sons Funeral Home.

William Suits
William Ernest Suits died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999. He was 81.

The longtime Chattanooga resident was a native of Cleveland, Tenn., a former employee of Peerless Woolen Mills and was retired from Rossville Yarn.

He was a member of New Covenant Baptist Church and the Soul Seekers Sunday School class.

He was the grandfather of the late Scottie Suits.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Poteet Suits; two sons, Kenneth Suits, Ringgold, and Ronny Suits, Rossville; one sister, Marjorie Burk, Cleveland; three brothers, Ellis Suits, Cleveland, and Bedford and Charles Suits, both of Cohutta, Ga.; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Gregg officiating.

Burial will be in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

Evelyn Sullivan
Evelyn Gray Sullivan died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 87.

Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.

Burial will be in Forest Hills cemetery.

Elma Terry
Elma Jones Terry, who taught in Chattanooga schools for 37 years, died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 93.

Services will be today at 11:30 a.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East, with the Rev. Ed Snodgrass and the Rev. Charles Ellis officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hills cemetery.

Percy Todd
Percy E. 'Chip' Todd of Cypress, Texas, and formerly of Apison, Tenn., died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, in a Houston hospital. He was 43.

A native of Chattanooga and a longtime resident of Apison, Tenn., Mr. Todd had lived in Cypress for the past five years. He was a sales executive with Mac Equipment Inc., for the last six years, and was formerly employed with Todd Manufacturing in Cleveland, Tenn.

A graduate of Ooltewah High School, he received a degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech.

He was a member of Apison United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Percy E. Todd Sr., and a sister, Betsy Vines.

Survivors include one son, Colin Todd, Pittsburgh, Pa.; his mother, Barbara Todd Stanfield, Apison; one brother, Jim Todd, Chattanooga; two sisters, Trese Pomerville, Poulsbo, Wash., and Linda Stanfield Pennebaker, Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Plowman cemetery with the Rev. William C. Poister officiating.

Following the service the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of Apison United Methodist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, 1515 Holcombe Blvd., Box 103, Houston, TX 77030-4095.

Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.

Nola Trammell
Nola Alice Trammell died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, at her home. She was 73.

Graveside services will be today at 2 p.m. in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or the Alzheimer's Association.

Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.

Reece Williams
Reece D. Williams died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 58.

He was a member of Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church, an employee of McKee Foods Corp., and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include four sisters, LaFonde W. McGee, Chattanooga, and Angelyn, Barbara and Virginia Williams, all of Richmond, Va.; stepmother, Velma Williams, Richmond; one brother, Virgil V. McGee Sr., Chattanooga.

Services will be Thursday at noon at Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry K. Lester officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Trammell Chapel of Hardwick & Sons Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Maggie Miller
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Maggie Miller died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, in a local hospital. She was 90.

Arrangements are by the Wildwood Chapel of Buckner-Rush Funeral Home, Cleveland.

Gussie Samples
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Gussie Stewart Samples, who worked for more than 30 years with Jones Flower Shop, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at a local hospital. She was 83.

The funeral was today at 2 p.m. at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home, Cleveland, with ministers Kevin Green and Ted Gobble officiating.

Burial was in Union Grove Church of Christ cemetery.

Jacob Vanderwaal
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Jacob Douglas Vanderwaal died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at his residence. He was 21.

Graveside services were held today at 1 p.m. at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dan Bailey officiating.

Arrangements were by Grissom Funeral Home.
