Rhonda Blair
Rhonda Joy Blair of East Ridge died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998. SHe was 39.

Mrs. Blair was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and a member of First Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Blair was preceded in death by a son, G. Thomas Blair Jr., and paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. W.W. Ervin and maternal grandmother, Katherine Kilgore.

Survivors include her husband, G. Thomas Blair; a son, Brandon Blair, East Ridge; parents, Eugene and Carolyn Ervin, East Ridge; two brothers, Michael Ervin, East Ridge, and Mark Ervin, Suwanee, Ga.; and maternal grandfather, Claude Cornelison, Chattanooga.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road, with the Rev. Myron Wise officiating.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

The family was to receive friends today from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.

Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.

James Bush
James Monroe Bush died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at a Pikeville, Tenn., hospital. He was 71.

Mr. Bush was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and a member of Concord Baptist Church. He was retired from the Electric Power Board where he was a lineman. He was a leader for Boy Scout Troop 69 at Concord Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel Bush.

Survivors include a son, Cornell Bush, Chattanooga; two daughters, Charlotte Cansler, Chattanooga, and Susan Bush, Des Moines, Iowa; three brothers, Clyde and Carl Bush, both of Chattanooga, and Richard Bush, Phoenix; two sisters, Flora Hundley, Kemp, Texas, and Rita Duckworth, Phoenix; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at noon at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road, with Dr. C.S. Knapp officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family was to receive friends today from 2 to 9 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.

Edna Dennison
Edna Ted Montgomery Dennison of Lookout Valley died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, in a local nursing home. She was 77.

Arrangements will be announced by Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home, Dayton.

Mattie Lou Duff
Mattie Lou Duff of Chattanooga died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, in a local nursing home. She was 87.

Arrangements will be announced by Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Chapel.

Charles Dyer
Charles Dyer of East Ridge died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at his home.

Arrangements will be announced by Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.

Burleson Faw
Burleson Faw of Orlando, Fla., died there Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998. He was 80.

Mr. Faw was the son of the late George and Emma Faw and was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Faw.

He was retired from Hardwick Stove Co. He was a member and former deacon of Stuart Park Baptist Church and was a member of the Masonic order.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Sloan, Orlando; a brother, Beecher Faw, Rossville; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Fike Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Parker officiating.

Burial will be in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Fike Funeral Home Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.

Leanna Hardy
Leanna Hardy died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at a local hospital. She was 64.

Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home.

Marjorie Harper
Marjorie Lee Harper died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, in a local hospital. She was 55.

A native of Dayton, Ohio, she had lived in the Chattanooga area most of her life.

Survivors include a daughter, Vickie Harper, Chattanooga; and a brother, William Harper.

The memorial service will be private.

There will be no visitation at W.L. Wilson Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe, which is in charge of arrangements.

Leonard Hayes
Leonard Hayes, formerly of Chattanooga, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, in Buffalo, N.Y.

He was a member of the Howard High Class of 1935.

Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Odis Heard
Odis Heard died in a local hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998. He was 65.

Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Woodrow Hobbs
Woodrow Wilson Hobbs of Red Bank died Thursday morning, Dec. 31, 1998, in a Chattanooga hospital. He was 81.

Mr. Hobbs was a native of Sequatchie County and a resident of Red Bank most of his life. He was the son of the late William and Maggie Hobbs and was preceded in death by brothers, Lacy and Alton Hobbs; sisters, Farris Warick and Lorena Lockhart. He was a member of White Oak United Methodist Church since 1949 where he was a member of the Friendship Sunday school class. He was a former co-owner of Dayton Glass Co. and a former employee of Bradway Glass Co.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a chief petty officer in the Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Sally Hobbs; two sons, Leonard Hobbs, Wilmington, Del., and Larry Hobbs, Athens, Tenn.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home, Soddy-Daisy, with the Rev. Meg Taylor Poister officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to White Oak United Methodist Church, 2232 Lyndon Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37415.

Arrangements are by Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home, Athens.

Jay Jackson
Jay H. Jackson, one of the founding executives of Mulkey & Jackson (M&J) supermarkets, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at his Red Bank home. He was 90.

Mr. Jackson began his career with Ragland Bros. Wholesale Grocers and moved into the retail grocery business when M&J; was started. The local M&J; stores later were bought by Pruett's Food Town.

Mr. Jackson retired at the age of 78 after spending half a century in the grocery business. He was a longtime member of Red Bank Baptist Church, its Fellowship class and the Prime Time Singers.

An avid golfer, he belonged to Rivermont Golf and Country Club.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Irene Jackson, and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Jackson; daughter, Glynda Brown, Chattanooga; son, Tommy H. Jackson, Chattanooga; a stepson, Frank Gordy, Soddy-Daisy; and four grandchildren, Audrey Brown, Carla Watson, Jeff and Brad Jackson.

The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with Dr. Fred Steelman officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family was to receive friends today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Red Bank Baptist Church Music Department, 4000 Dayton Blvd., Chattanooga, TN 37415.

Mary Kellis
Mary Lee Kellis died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998. She was 87.

Mrs. Kellis was a member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church and was retired from the Social Security Administration. She was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East, with Dr. Richard Mason officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Vision 2000 Building Fund at Brainerd Hills Baptist Church, 6611 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
