Funeral Services for Helen Colyar Martin, age 92 of South Jefferson Street in Tullahoma will be conducted at 2:00pm, Wednesday, from the graveside at Oakwood cemetery in Tullahoma with Rev. Don McLaughlin officiating. Mrs. Martin died Monday evening at Harton Hospital. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00pm till 1:45pm, Wednesday at Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Mrs. Martin was born in Franklin County, Tennessee the daughter of the late James and Iona Crabb Colyar. She was the last surviving member of the Colyar family who settled on Jefferson Street immediately after the Civil War. Mrs. Martin was a member of the First Christian Church in Tullahoma, the American Legion Auxillary and the Telephone Pioneers of America. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Edward Martin who died in 1975, by 2 sisters, Ailene Martin & Kathrine Thomas, and by 4 brothers, Alton, Jess, Van & Lee Colyar. Leo Boyd
Funeral Services for Leo Boyd, age 90 of Tullahoma will be conducted at 2:00pm, Monday, August 26, 2002 at the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Floyd Miles and Rev. Rick Clouse officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be from 4pm till 9pm, Sunday at Tullahoma Funeral Home. Mrs. Boyd died Saturday morning at Harton Hospital.
A native of DeKalb County, Alabama the daughter of the late James and Annie Meadows Horton. She was an active member of the Methodist Faith and attended the Living Water Pentecostal Church and Mt. Vernon Church of the Nazarene. Along with her husband, Mrs. Boyd was the former owner of Boyd's Grocery. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Boyd who died in 1986, by 2 daughters, Billie Joyce Hasty and Anne Bell, by 2 brothers, Elbert & Vernell Horton, by 2 sisters, Jimmie Dean Talent & Alene Dye, and by a great grandchild, Stephanie Short. Her survivors are:

Ruby Mae Grant, age 72 of Tullahoma, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at her residence. Mrs. Grant was born in Moore Co., TN and is the daughter of the late Guy and Beulah Morgan. Mrs.Grant was retired from Wilson Sporting Goods Co. in Tullahoma. In addition to her parents Mrs. Grant was also preceded in death by her husband, Comer Grant(1995), a sister, Marie Holloway, and 2 brothers, Robert Morgan and Guy Morgan Jr..

Robert Ulysses Silfies
Visitation: Thursday, September 26, 2002
SILFIES, Robert Ulysses, age 77 of Tullahoma, Tennessee, formerly of Allentown, PA., died September 23, 2002 at his home in Tullahoma following a three-year battle with lung cancer. He was born in Bath, PA., and was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Henry and Helen Fehnel Silfies, and brothers, Paul & Luther Silfies. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jeanette Kleckner Silfies of Tullahoma;3 daughters, Joan Silfies (Edward) O'Neal of Harmony Township, NJ., Jean Silfies of Fayetteville, TN., & Jane Silfies (Tracey) Hay of Lebanon, TN., 7 grandchildren, Edward, Shannon & Kimberly O'Neil, Joshua & Shane Nunley, and Lauren & Sara Hay; 1 sister, Ida Derrick of Philadelphia, PA. Mr. Silfies served in the US Navy from 1943-1949, and was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Franklin during World War II. He graduated from Lehigh University in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and was employed with AEDC in Tullahoma from 1958-1988. He was an active member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Tullahoma where he participated in the choir and handbell choir. Other memberships included The American Society of Professional Engineers; Lehigh University Alumni Assn;American Legion Post 43;the USS Franklin CV-13 Museum Assn. Inc.;the 704 Club (being one of the 704 men who returned to Brooklyn Navy Yard aboard the USS Franklin from the Pacific during WWII), and was a volunteer for the Senior Citizens Center, delivering Meals on Wheels. The family requests memorial donations to the Faith Lutheran Church, Wilson Ave at Bragg Circle, Tullahoma, Tn. 37388;Hospital Home Health & Hospice, 1797 Wilson Pky, Fayetteville, TN. 37334; or to the American Cancer Society. A memorial service will be held at the Faith Lutheran Church in Tullahoma on Thursday, September 26, 2002 at 11am (CST). Visitation with the family will begin at 9:30am Thursday and conclude at service time. Mr. Silfies donated his body to the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville for medical research. Mrs. Steward was born in Tullahoma the daughter of Aron Glenn Moore and Juanita Adams Moore. She was a Caterer in the Santa Fe/Columbia, Tennessee area and attended the Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Moore who died in 1999, by her maternal grandfather, George Adams, and by her paternal grandparents, Jess and Annie Moore. Her survivors are:

Mrs. Kimbro was born in Coffee Co., Tennessee and is the daughter of the late Jesse and Mai Shelton. She was a member of the Canaan Baptist Church, a member of the Woodmen Circle, worked many years as a seamstress and was retired from Appalachian Sportswear. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband George Kimbro, a daughter, Betty Fite, one grandson, Kenneth Ivey, 2 sisters, Fruzie Bush & Hazel Sparks, 4 brothers, Clyde, Austin, Carl and Arthur Shelton. Donald Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in the Maplewood cemetery. Mrs. Kimbro died Wednesday at Life Care Center in Tullahoma.
