Richard "Dick" Franks
Visitation: Saturday, April 19, 2003
Richard Ray Franks, age 79 of Tullahoma, died Friday, April 18, 2003 at the Manchester Healthcare Center. Visitation with the family will be from 5pm until 7pm, Saturday, April 19 at the Tullahoma Funeral Home. Cryptside services will be conducted at 2:00pm, Sunday, April 20 at the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Bill Starnes & Jim Beaty officiating.
Mr. Franks was born on April 12, 1924 in Akron, Ohio the son of the late Ray L. Franks and Irene Honeywell Franks. He attended Braden's Military Academy at Cornwell on the Hudson, New York and also the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
Mr. Franks served in World War II with the 264th Engineer Combat Battalion in the European Theater of Operation from 1943 until April of 1946. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge & was assigned to the French Moroccan Red Letter Outfit, then participated in the Central European and Rhineland campaigns. He received the EAME Theater ribbon with 2 bronze stars and also the Purple Heart Medal.
Mr. Franks graduated from the University of Akron with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and began working for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Phoenix, Arizona. He came to AEDC in 1956 where he was Manager of the Test Operations Branch, Large Rocket Facility with Sverdrup Technology, Inc. from 1963 until 1970. In March 1970 he became Manager of the J-Testing Operations Branch, Engine Test Facility and retired in January of 1985. Mr. Franks was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Tullahoma, was a Charter member of the National Management Association, the Tennessee and Ohio Society of Professional Engineers and was Past President of the Tullahoma Chapter of the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers. He served 12 years on the Advisory Board of the AEDC Officers Club, was Chairman of the Tullahoma Housing Authority from 1983 until 1991 and served on the Board of Contact Lifeline from 1993 until 1995.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Franks was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Wolf Franks who died in 2001. His survivors are:

Mr. Branch died Sunday at Harton Hospital in Tullahoma. Visitation with the family will be from 5pm till 9pm, Tuesday at Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Mr. Branch was born in Moore County, Tennessee the son of the late John and Annie Patterson Branch. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Chicago and was a US Army Veteran. Mr Branch was a member of the American Legion in Winchester. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Cecil, Claude and Paul Branch, and by an infant great grandson, Austin Cole Hindman. Peter MacGregor
Peter MacGregor of Tullahoma, born Tuesday, October 28, 1919, died Friday, September 6, 2002 at Harton Regional Hospital.He is preceded in death by his parents Peter and Janet MacGregor. Mr. MacGregor was born in Glasgow, Scotland. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.

Dillon Wayne Hodges, Sr.

Funeral Services for Dillon Wayne Hodges, Sr., age 60 of Tullahoma will be conducted at 10:00am, Tuesday, May 6, from the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel with David Wall officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet cemetery in Franklin County. Mr. Hodges died Sunday morning at Harton Hospital. Mr. Hodges was born in New Market, Alabama the son of the late Harrison Monroe Hodges and Nola Frances Preston Hodges. He was a Butcher with the former Big Star Grocery Store in Tullahoma and was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Robert "Bob" Rees

Funeral Services for Robert Lynn Rees, age 50 of Tullahoma will be conducted at 11:00am, Friday, January 17, at the First Baptist Church in Tullahoma with Dr. J. Herbert Hester, Thurman Mullins and James Chandler officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Shelbyville. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be John Howell, Taylor Bettis, Jim Chandler, Thurman Mullins, Wayne Bomar, Carl Halfacre and Steve Wright. Mr. Rees died Sunday at his home in Tullahoma. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00am, Friday until service time at First Baptist Church.

Mr. Rees was born in Shelbyville, Tennessee the son of Clyde K and Wilma Pierce Rees of Shelbyville who survive. He was formerly the Park Superintendant at Tim's Ford State Park and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tullahoma. Mr. Rees was a Graduate of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, was a member of the Winchester Lions Club, the American Diabetes Club, the Park Rangers Association and the Nashville Emmaus Society. He was preceded in death by a brother, Davis Rees. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, THE FAMILY ASKS THAT MEMORIAL DONATIONS BE MADE TO THE AMERICAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION OR THE KIDNEY FOUNDATION. Wilburn E. George, Sr.
Visitation: Monday, September 23, 2002
Funeral Services for Wilburn Edwin George, Sr., age 76 of Tullahoma will be conducted at 10:00am, Tuesday, September 24 at the St. Paul's Catholic Church with Father John Kirk officiating. Visitation with the family will begin at 7pm, Monday, September 23 at Tullahoma Funeral Home. Mr. George died Friday at his home in Tullahoma.
Mr. George was born in Cozahome, Arkansas the son of the late Albert and Gladys Darby George. He retired from Sverdrup in 1988 where he was an Electrical Engineer and was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Tullahoma and served on the Board of Directors at the church. Mr. George was also the past president of the Amateur Ham Radio Club, was a member of the Professional Engineer's Society, and the Knights of Columbus . He started the Church Basketball League for girls, was a Babe Ruth Baseball Coach, was a tutor for the Tullahoma High School Football Players, and was a student at Motlow State Community College in 1997. Mr. George was the Captain of the Memphis State Football Team from 1948-1949, and graduated from Oklahoma State University. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was recalled for duty during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Leo George and by a sister, Marie Dozier. His survivors are:

Mrs. Thomas was born in Tullahoma, TN and is the daughter of the late Walter and Annie Mae Cannon Blackburn. She was a member of the Parkview Baptist Church in Lewisburg & a retired District Manager with Hershey Manufacturing. She is also preceded in death by a step son, Ricky Thomas.

Albert Sudberry

Mr. Sudberry was born in Bedford County, Tennessee the son of the late Horace Edgar Sudberry and Bettis Malissie Overcast Sudberry. He was retired from GENESCO in Tullahoma and was a member of the Grundy Street Church of Christ in Tullahoma. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Mae Sudberry who died in March of this year, and by 2 sons, Albert J. Sudberry and Bobby Sudberry. David Wall officiating. Burial will follow in the Hurricane cemetery in Moore County. Visitation with the family will be from 5 pm till 9pm, Thursday at Tullahoma Funeral Home. Mr. Bates died Tuesday evening at Harton Hospital.
Mr. Bates was born in Moore County, Tennessee the son of the late Dave and Maggie Anderton Bates. He was retired from the US Army with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served during World War II and the Korean War, receiving various decorations and medals to include the A/Def Service Ribbon, the East African M.E. Service Ribbon with 2 bronze service stars, The Bronze Star Medal, the Korean Service Medal with 2 silver stars, the National Defense Service Medal, the U.S. Service Medal, the A.C. Medal, and the CIB Combat Infantry Badge (Korea 38th Regiment). Mr. Bates was a member of the Wesley Heights United Methodist Church in Tullahoma. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Farmer Bates, by 1 son, Richard Bates, and by 1 brother, James Bates. His survivors are:

Entombment will follow. Mrs. Durrett died Monday morning at her home at Kings Manor in Tullahoma following an extended illness.

Mrs. Durrett was born in Petersburg, Virginia the daughter of the late Percy A. and Lena Ricks Sadler. She was the widow of Hamlin G. Durrett who died in 199 and was a retired federal employee and DAR member. She moved to Tullahoma in 1990 with her husband after living most of her life in Petersburg, Virginia. She attended the Trinity Lutheran Church in Tullahoma and in her later years often enjoyed worshiping at the First Presbyterian Church in Tullahoma with her friend, Irby Lightner. For those who desire, the family suggests memorial donations to the Hospice of the Highland Rim, Inc. Arrangements by Tullahoma Funeral Home, Inc.
