Mr. Hix was born in Moore County, Tennessee the son of the late Ollie C. Hix and Annie Lee Ervin Hix. Mr. Hix was a retired Printer with the Cresent Box Company and in addition to his parents was preceded in death by a Daughter, Willie Couch, and by 2 brothers, Paschall & Harold Hix. Funeral Services for Wilford Eliphas Hix, Sr, age 86 of Tullahoma will be conducted at 10am, Friday, Sept. 13, from the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Wall officiating. Burial will follow in the County Line cemetery in Lynchburg. Mr. Hix died Wednesday morning at Harton Hospital. Visitation with the family will be from 6pm till 9pm, Thursday at Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Raymond Robert Wilson

Visitation: Sunday, April 6, 2003
Funeral Services for Raymond Robert Wilson, age 84, of Tullahoma will be conducted Tuesday at Laughlin Funeral Chapel in Huntsville, AL. Burial will follow in the Maplehill cemetery. Mr. Wilson died Friday at Harton Hospital. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 till 5:00 Sunday afternoon at Tullahoma Funeral Home and from 5:00 till 8:00 Monday evening at Laughlin Funeral Chapel in Huntsville, AL.

Daughter - Donna Heflin of Huntsville, AL

Sister - Ora Mae Dunham of Hunstville
Grandchildren - Bobby Wilson, Mike Wilson, Barry Wilson, Sherri Wilson, Randy Wilson, Jana Wilson Smith, Louisa Tudor
Step Grandchildren - Bradley, John, Jeremy, Andy, & Bryn Sartain
Great Grandchildren - Stephanie, Ashley, Erin & Zachary Wilson & Landry Smith
Mr. Wilson was born in Huntsville, Alabama and the son of the late Elgie and Dora Sartain Wilson. He was retired with the Civil Service at Redstone. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Archer Wilson. LOCAL ARRANGEMENTS BY TULLAHOMA FUNERAL HOME, INC.

Funeral Services for Rachel Roberts Poe, age 88, of Knoxville will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 22, 2003, from the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don McLaughlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Maplewood cemetery. Mrs. Poe died Sunday at Brakebill Nursing Home in Knoxville. Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 till 7:00 Tuesday evening at Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Son & daughter-in-law - Joe & Betty Poe of Lynchburg

Mrs. Poe was born in Knoxville, Tennessee and is the daughter of the late William and Anna Kirk Roberts. She attended Milligan College in Johnson City, TN, was a member of the First Christian Church in Tullahoma, was a founding member of the Jessie Billingsly Circle at First Christian Church and was a founding member of the Harton Hospital Auxiliary. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Burl F. Poe.

Hazel Louise Hazelip

Visitation: Thursday, April 17, 2003
Funeral Services for Hazel Louise Hazelip, age 75 of Tullahoma will be conducted at 2:00pm, Friday, April 18, from the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. J. Herbert Hester & Rev. Bob Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Hazelip died Tuesday evening at her home. Visitation with the family will be from 5pm till 9pm, Thursday, April 17 at Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hazelip was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky the daughter of the late Wilkins E. Hardcastle and Lettie F. Wheeler Hardcastle. She was a homemaker and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tullahoma. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Lavera Garrity. John Richard Freeman

Funeral Services for John Richard Freeman, age 19 of Tullahoma will be conducted at 10:00am, Saturday, April 25, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Tullahoma with Father Dexter Brewer officiating. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. John died Tuesday, April 22 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Visitation with the family will be from 7pm till 9pm, Friday at Tullahoma Funeral Home.

John was born in Sheffield, Alabama the son of Dr. William J. Freeman M.D. and Patsy Jo Green Freeman. He was a senior at Webb School in Bell Buckle where he was the M.V.P of the Track and Cross Country Team, Captain of the Track Team, and a 3 year Letterman. As a freshman at Brandon Hall School in Atlanta, he was also MVP of the Cross Country and Track Team, and a letterman. John had been accepted at the St. John's University in New York City for Pre-Medical Studies and Psychology. He was the winner of his age division in the 2002 Tullahoma Rotary Club Distance Run and was a 2001 and 2002 participant in the U.S.A. Southeast Cross Country Championships. John received the Academic Awards for Excellence in English, Math and History. He was a Life Scout in the Boy Scouts of America and was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Decherd, Tn. John was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dr. William Neil Freeman M.D. and J'Austa Freeman of Colfax, Washington. ARRANGEMENTS BY TULLAHOMA FUNERAL HOME, INC.

Verna Mae Scroggins

Visitation: Monday, April 28, 2003
Funeral Services for Verna Mae Hill Scroggins, age 90 of Tullahoma will be conducted at 2:00pm, Tuesday, April 29 at the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be from 5pm until 9pm, Monday evening at Tullahoma Funeral Home. Mrs. Scroggins died Sunday at the Life Care Center of Tullahoma.
Mrs. Scroggins was born on April 29, 1912 in Madison County, Alabama the daughter of the late Samuel & Nancy E. Dudley Hill. She and her husband, the late Washington M. "Bill" Scroggins moved to Tullahoma in 1941 and remained in Tullahoma until their deaths. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ where her membership started with the old Jackson Street congregation, then with the Moore Street congregation as the old Jackson Street building was being torn down, and then with the Grundy Street Congregation. She worshiped at Grundy Street Church of Christ until the death of her husband in 1988, at which time she began worshiping with the Wilson Avenue Congregation as a matter of convenience. She was a faithful worker in all congregations until her health failed. Her first love was always with the Grundy Street Congregation.
She was an employee of "Joy Land" during the Camp Forrest years, as a short order cook and worked in concession stands. She was later an employee of the Lannom Ball Factory, Applachian Tanning, and the Wilson Ball Factory. She also did baby sitting and took in ironing at her home. In the early 1960's she and her husband began a greenhouse (V & W Geranium Gardens) at their home on the corner of Reavis Street and Clement Drive, and together the operated it until his death in 1988. She continued to operate it part time until 1992 at which time her health began to fail. She was always known for her "Green Thumb".
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Scroggins was also preceded in death by 4 brothers, John, Robert, Samuel and Fred Hill, all of Alabama and by 3 sisters, Bertha Hill, Mary Tabor and Lucy Maples, all of Alabama. Her survivors are:
1 Daughter & son-in-law - Joyce & Charles Broadrick of Tullahoma
1 grandson - Charles E. "Chuck" Broadrick, Jr and his wife Tracy of Tullahoma
1 great granddaughter - Tabbitha Broadrick
Beloved Friend - Martha Fletcher of Tullahoma
1 sister - Olean McMinn of Huntsville, Alabama
1 brother - Joe Hill of Owens Crossroads, Alabama
2 sisters-in-law - Beatrice Hill & Mary Hill of Alabama
41 nieces & nephews and many great nieces & nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

Funeral Services for William Derek Bentley, age 24 of Cowan, formerly of Estill Springs will be conducted at 1:00pm, Monday, May 5, from the graveside at Coldwater Baptist Church cemetery in Coldwater, Alabama with Deacon Danny Bussey officiating with burial to follow. Mr. Bentley died Friday afternoon at the Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester, Tn.
