LaFAYETTE - Charles Thomas Tipton, 63, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001.
Survivors: wife, Mary (Gina) Tipton; sisters, Annette McNeely, Debra Pickard; brother, Steve Tipton.
Service: Community Baptist Church, Rock Spring, Ga., Monday, 11 a.m., Mike Angel, Paul Cummings.
Interment: Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
Visitation: today, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
The body will be at the church after 10 a.m. Monday.
Contributions to Community Baptist Church.

Fannie Watkins
ROSSVILLE, GA - Fannie Pope Watkins, 87, a native of East Armuchee, Ga., and a lifelong resident of Rossville and Lakeview, Ga., died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, in a local hospital.
She was employed with the Home Stores and Goodletts Food Markets in Fort Oglethorpe and Chattanooga for more than 25 years. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Fort Oglethorpe where she worked in the nursery for 15 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Lewis Watkins; parents, William Daniel and Temperance McKaig Pope; brothers, John and Richard Pope; sister, Bonnie Pike.
She is survived by two daughters, Helen Williams and son-in-law, Eddie Williams, both of Titusville, Fla., and Sandra Mullins and son-in-law, Ron Mullins both of Fort Oglethorpe; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Elizabeth Greeson of Rossville, and Maude Wilson of Bradenton, Fla.; brother, Fred A. Pope of Lakeview, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Scott and Rev. Dale Parker officiating.
Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery in Villanow, Ga.
Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Evelyn Jones
ATTALLA -- Evelyn G. Jones, 85, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001.
Mrs. Jones was a native of Marshall County.
She lived in Chattanooga and was a resident of Attalla for over 30 years.
Mrs. Jones was an active member of Cherry Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Marie Adams Brannon, Southside, Nancy Jones Dick (Roy), Griffin, Ga.; brother, Fred Gamble (Betty), Tuscaloosa; sisters, Lucille Teal, Boaz, Marge Ponder, RBC, Betty Teal (Dwight), Boaz, Janey Brown (Barney), Boaz; sister-in-law, Catherine Sliger, Chattanooga; grandchildren, Steve Adams, Cathy Adams, David Dick, Kelly Maner; great-grandchildren, Haley, Hannah, Meghan, Stephen.
Services will be Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel.
Burial will be at 3 p.m. EDT Monday in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
Pallbearers: deacons of Cherry Street and Winfred Clark and Chuck Ponder.
Honorary pallbearers: Gadsden Regional Hospice, members of Cherry Street Baptist Church and Mrs. John Guest.
Visitation will be today from 5-9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted or memorials may be made to Cherry Street Baptist Church.

Aaron Massingill
FORT PAYNE -- Aaron Massingill, 75, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at BMC Montclair.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. from Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow in Wesley's Chapel Cemetery with Rainsville Funeral Home Directing.

Carl Smith
PISGAH -- Carl Rayburn Smith, 81, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001.
Service Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at 1 p.m. CDT from Kerby Chapel.
Survived by wife, Grace Ferguson Smith; brother, Joseph Raymond Smith; several nieces and nephews.
Interment in Pisgah Cemetery.

Josephine Vandergriff Brown
Josephine Vandergriff Brown, 79, of Clinton, formerly of Briceville, died Tuesday, April 13, 1999 at UT Medical Center.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Briceville.
She retires as Postmaster of the Briceville Post Office and was a member of Coal Creek Chapter of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by husband, Ralph H. Vandergriff; husband, Grover Brown; parents, Noah and Eva Harness; and brother, Mose Harness. Survivors include sons, R.M. Vandergriff of Portage, Indiana and Noah Vandergriff of Gary, Indiana; daughters, Marilyn Mancin of Lake Ozark, Missouri, Eva Grace White of Lake City, and W. Sue Utley of Clinton; sister, Vaughn Lisenbee Beach of Briceville; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 19 at Cox-Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Clarence Duncan and Rev. Edwin Phillips officiating. Interment icon followed Tuesday in Laurel Grove Cemetery in Briceville.

Virgil Christian
Virgil Christian, 88, of Jellico, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999 at Marymount Medical Center in London, Kentucky.
He is survived by wife, Rosie Marie Christian; sons, Charles David Christian of Mauk, Georgia and Thomas Gerald Christian of Caryville; daughters, Dorothy Thomas of Jellico, Thelma Lee Allen of Jacksonville, Florida, Arlene Moore of Middleberry, Indiana, Joyce Lynn Carr of Jellico, and Margie Marie Moses of Pleasant View, Kentucky; sisters, Maggie Hatfield of Sullivan, Indiana and Dorothy Casey of Justice, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 17 at Harp Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Carpenter officiating.
military honors were conducted by Campbell County Honor Guard and Jellico High School Jr. ROTC.
Interment followed in Kensee Cemetery.

Helen LaRue Elliott
Helen LaRue Elliott, 69, died Monday, April 19, 1999 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
She was a member of Island Ford Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husband, George Charles LaRue; husband, Homer J. Elliott; parents, Bill and Hattie Hicks; daughter, Martha Massengill; infant daughter, Myrtle Ruth Elliott; sister, Mary Roysden; and brother, Roy E. Hicks. Survivors include sons, Joseph Lynn LaRue of Patchoogue, New York, James Ralph LaRue of Knoxville, and Arthur Frank Elliott of Lake City; daughters, Betty Pride of Clinton, Hester Johnson of Lake City, Georgia Ridenour of Andersonville, Kay Tackett of Lake City, Alma Faye Cummings of Oliver Springs, Helen Louise Roysden of Lake City, Ruby Jean Phillips of Briceville, and Peggy Elizabeth Long of Briceville; sister, Josephine Hicks Lowe of Knoxville; brothers, James Hicks of Clinton and Glen Hicks of Kentucky; thirty grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 21 at Island Ford Baptist Church with Rev. Lowell Elkins and Rev. Charles Harness officiating. Interment icon followed in Island Ford Cemetery.
Cox-Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Jesse Harry Hubert Johnson
Jesse Harry Hubert Johnson, 66, of Jellico, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999 at Beech Tree Manor in Jellico.
He is survived by daughter, Jessica Morris of Lexington, Kentucky; sons, Jesse Jason, Michael Ira, and George Wayne; brother, Bascomb Johnson; sisters, Bay Potter, Sadie Cantwell, Creed Franklin, and Margaret; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Friday, April 16 at Douglas Cemetery with Dr. Chuck Summers officiating.
military honors were conducted by Campbell County Honor Guard.
Harp Funeral Home of Jellico in charge of arrangements.

James Allan Jones
James Allan Jones, 69, of Jacksboro, died Saturday, April 17, 1999 at his home. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He completed US Naval Training in Great Lakes, Illinois and was a graduate of Hospital Corps and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. He was a chemist for the Federal Food and Drug Administration for 28 years. He was a former treasurer for Campbell County Library Board, a member of the Friends of Jacksboro Library, and active in Save Our Cumberland Mountains. He was also a private Airline Pilot.
He was preceded in death by parents, James E. Jr. and Ruth M. Hardy Jones; sister, Lois; and brother, John Paul.
Survivors include son, Allan Patrick Jones of Burlington, Massachusetts; brothers, William F. of Alabama and Thomas M. of California; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 19 at Martin Funeral Home with Father Greg Neuzil officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Jacksboro Library, First State Bank of Jacksboro or the American Cancer Society.

Clifford Charles Kohlmeyer
Clifford Charles Kohlmeyer, 90, of Cincinnati, Ohio and Leesburg, Florida, died Friday, April 9, 1999 at his home. He was retired after 44 years of employment from Cincinnati Bell Telephone and was a veteran of WWII. Mr. Kohlmeyer was a volunteer at a local nursing home five days a week.
He was preceded in death by parents, Edward and Louise Kohlmeyer; first wife, Helen Lamping Kohlmeyer; and brother, Richard Kohlmeyer all of Cincinnati. Survivors include wife, Ruth Emmons Kohlmeyer of Cincinnati; son, Clifford E. "Butch" Kohlmeyer and three grandchildren all of LaFollette.
Interment was held at Morrow Cemetery in Morrow, Ohio. John Evans Funeral Home of Cincinnati, Ohio in charge of arrangements.
The family has requested that memorials for Mr. Kohlmeyer be sent to the Building Fund, First Baptist Church, LaFollette, TN.
