Ronald Smith, 53, of Harrogate, Tennessee, died Sunday, June 11, 2000 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. He was a member of Millers Chapel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by; parents, Sommie and Lena Smith; brother, Glenn Smith; and step-mother, Bessie Lee Smith. Survivors include; wife, Helen Smith; sons, Ronald Scott Smith, and Rodney Wayne Smith, both of Pineville, Kentucky; step-children, Karen Hatfield of Tazewell, and Jody Mozingo of Harrogate; granddaughter, Kayla Hatfield of Tazewell; sisters, Beulah Smith of Miracle, Kentucky, and Irene Ellis of New Tazewell; brothers, Paul Smith of Faubush, Kentucky, David Smith of Ferndale, Kentucky, and Carl Smith of Houston,  Texas; special friend, J. B. Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 14 at Creech Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Terry and Rev. Lonnie Lyke officiating. Interment icon followed in Fonde/Pruden Cemetery.

Walter C Snodderly
Walter C Snodderly, 80, of LaFollette, died Wednesday, June 7, 2000 at LaFollette Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by; parents, Odis and Liza Snodderly. Survivors include; wife, Charlsie Snodderly of LaFollette; sons, Joe Snodderly of LaFollette, and Charles Snodderly of Jacksboro; daughters, Shirley Gillum of LaFollette; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 9 at Walters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Caswell Barnes, Rev. Ralph Cordell, and Kenny Gillum officiating. Interment icon followed Saturday, June 10 in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ; New Horizon Baptist Church, P O Box 270, LaFollette, or High Knob Baptist Church, PO Box 1715, LaFollette. Walters Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Abigail Rogers Wilson
Abigail "Abbie" Rogers Wilson, 87, of LaFollette, died Wednesday, June 7, 2000 at LaFollette Medical Center. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by; husband, Clyde Wilson, Sr.; sisters, Ruth Moyers, and Mary Krautkremer; brothers, Esco, Frank, Chester, Casper S., Jr., and Millard Rogers. Survivors include; son, Clyde (Trula) Wilson, Jr. of Walton, Kentucky; grandchildren, Bradley, Matthew, Mark, and Mary Wilson; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 9 at 2 p.m. at Cross Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Orick officiating. Family received friends from 12 until 2 p.m. Friday prior to services. Interment icon followed funeral services in Campbell Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, c/o Norita Parrott, 155 Chapel Heights Lane, LaFollette, Tn. 37766.

William Winford Walden
William Winford Walden, 42, of Jacksboro, died Saturday, June 3, 2000 at St. Mary's Hospital in Knoxville.
He was preceded in death by; parents, Isaac and Gertrude Wilson Walden; sisters, Norma Jean, and Nina Faye; brothers, Lonnie and Benny Ray Walden; and two infant brothers. Survivors include; special person, Robert John Beladina; daughters, Robin Norton of Whitewall, Tennessee, and Rose Ann Walden of Florida; sisters, Shirley Hatmaker, Edna Bailey, Alma Orick of LaFollette, Alda Lingerfelt of Clarksville, Tennessee, Willa Helton, and Linda DeMeza of LaFollette; step-sisters, Lois Farmer, Phyllis Fraley, and Wilma Rutherford; step-brother, Bud Walden; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends,
Funeral services were held Monday, June 5 at Cross Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lloyd Campbell officiating. Interment icon followed in Walden Cemetery, Lick Creek.

Luther Wayne Ridings
Luther Wayne Ridings, 34, of Macon, Georgia, died Sunday, June 11, 2000 at U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville. He was of the Baptist faith and was employed by Spectrum Corporation of Macon, Georgia as District Manager.
He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Ridings, Jr. Survivors include; mother, Bonnie Garner Ridings of LaFollette; brother, Ronnie Ridings of LaFollette; several aunts, uncles, cousins; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 14 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Darryl Mefford officiating. Interment icon will follow today (Thursday), June 15 in Campbell Memorial Gardens.

Maggie H. Lovett
Maggie H. Lovett, 94, of Jacksboro, died Friday, June 2, 2000 at LaFollette Medical Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by; husband, Moses H. Lovett, Sr.,; sons, Winfred Byrd, and an infant son; an infant daughter; parents, Henry B. and Martha Clotfelter Queener; brothers, Leonard, John, and Carl Queener. Survivors include; sons, Moses Lovett, Jr. of Lithia Springs, Georgia, Johnny Byrd, and Marshall Byrd, both of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; daughters, Mattie Lou Nance, Jo Blankenship, and Grace Turner, all of Jacksboro; sisters, Murle Baird of Jacksboro, Thelma Tiller, Mary Tiller, and Gladys Miller, all of LaFollette; twenty-two grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 4 at Cross Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Parker officiating. Interment icon followed in Jacksboro Cemetery.

Jimmy Derek Bain
Jimmy Derek Bain. 47, of Athens, Georgia, died Tuesday, August 8, 2000 at his home. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a pharmacist with Gwinnett Medical Hospital.
He is survived by; wife, Evelyn Wike Bain; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Bain of Athens; son, John Mitchell Bain of Columbus; parents, James H. and Kaye Bain of LaFollette; sisters, Devona Mattie, Melinda Jordan, and Stacy Bell, all of LaFollette; three nieces; and one nephew.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 10 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Bill Britt and Rev. Beth Cook officiating. Bernstein Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Harold R Barton
Harold R. "Doc" Barton, 87, of Jellico, died Friday, August 11, 2000 at his home. He was a member of King Gap Baptist Church, which his father helped build at Cane Creek, Kentucky. He was a retired UMWA coal miner who worked 39 years in the deep mines . Mr. Barton wrote articles for the Knoxville News Sentinel for which he was called a backwoods Walt Whitman, and was featured on the "Heartland Series".
He was preceded in death by ;parents, George and Matilda Green Barton; brother, Edward Barton; and brothers, Jackie and George, Jr. Survivors include; sister, hazel Barton Hackler Jones of Jellico; brothers, Olan Barton of Williamsburg, Kentucky; Ted Barton, and Truitt Barton, both of Jellico; nineteen nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 13 at Cox & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lester Cox officiating. Interment icon followed Monday, August 14 in Highland Cemetery,

Billy Joe Brown
Billy Joe Brown, 66, of Powell, died Thursday, August 10, 2000. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Powell. He was a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University and was retired after 41 years of service as branch manager of Commercial Credit. Mr. Brown was active in Masonic Lodge and Shriners.
He was preceded in death by; parents, Sherman and Florence Brown; brother, Clifford; and sister, Gladys Carroll. Survivors include; wife, Betty Sue Brown; daughter, Tracy Harrell; grandchildren, Devin and Elsie Harrell; brothers, Everett, Wheeler. Willard, and Sherman, Jr.; sisters, Reva Jean Jones, and Moverine Miller; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 12 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phil Jones officiating. Interment icon followed Sunday, August 13 in Woodlawn Cemetery with military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Powell First Baptist Church Building Fund or Shriner's Children's Hospital.

Azilea Heatherly Cordell
Azilea Heatherly Cordell, 74, of Hermitage, Tennessee, died Monday, August 14, 2000. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Nashville, and Daughters of America.
She was preceded in death by; husband, Shirley F. Cordell; and parents, Charlie Heatherly and Mary Irwin. Survivors include; son, Michael Cordell of Smyrna, Tennessee; grandsons, Adam Michael Cordell and Cameron Ray Luther, both of Smyrna, Tennessee; sisters, Betty Lindsay, and Lois Carroll, both of LaFollette, and Leona Webb of Rockford, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 16 at Walters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Taylor Smith and Rev. Allen Smith officiating. Interment icon will follow today (Thursday), August 17 at 10 a.m. in Woodlawn Cemetery.
