Barney Carroll, Jr.
Barney Carroll, Jr. age 54 of LaFollette died Friday, January 16, 2004, at his home. He was of the Baptist Faith and was preceded in death by his father, Barney Carroll, Sr., Mother Rosie Riggs Carroll; sister Jean Carroll Gillum and brother Everette Carroll.
Survivors include his son Barney Carroll, III; daughter, Ashley Carroll; grandson, Jackson Murray; sisters Mary Gibson, Lucille (Blue) Hunley, Susie Mefford, Betty Wilson, Agnes Carroll, and Minnie Carroll all of LaFollette, Cloretta (Rita) Carroll of Jacksboro, Carrie McFarland of Knoxville; brother, Jessie Carroll of Conyers, GA; special and dear friend Phyllis Weaver; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Jan. 19 at Walters Chapel with Rev. James Adkins officiating. Interment icon was in Bakers Forge Cemetery. Walters Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Florence Elizabeth Edwards
Florence Elizabeth Edwards, age 97, of Clairfield died Jan. 14 at her home. She was born Nov. 7, 1906 in Speedwell.
Preceded in death by her parents, Pleaz and Polly Collins Thomas; husband, John Edwards; sons, Walter Edwards, Johnnie Pittman and Plazie Pittman; daughters, Lillian Kathern Pittman, Betty Jean Pittman, Sally Diana Edwards and Susan Ruth Davis.
Survivors include her daughter, Alice Edwards, Jellico; sons, Charles Edwards, Robert Edwards, Eagan; 35 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Jan. 17 at the Cox and Son Chapel with Rev. Horace Partin and Rev. Floyd King officiating. Interment icon was in the Clairfield Cemetery. Cox and Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Clayton Goins
Clayton Goins, LaFollette, born February 26, 1926, died January 14, 2004.
He was a member and Deacon of Forks Grove Baptist Church. He spent 31 years working at Shelby Grocery, driving their Rolling Store. He also was a World War 11 United States Army veteran.
Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, Emit and Nora Smith Goins; four brothers, John, Homer, Lloyd and Don Goins.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Juanita Underwood Goins; three daughters, Joyce and husband, Ronnie Johnson, Judy and husband, Dallas Jackson, Vicky and husband, Gary Miller; six grandchildren, Angela Jackson, Tommy Jackson, Marty Jackson, Becky Morris, and Roy and Ray Miller; three great-grandchildren, all of LaFollette; sisters, Annie Goins, Nadine Jones, Naomi Jones; brother, Clifford Goins and many nieces and nephews.
He was a friend to all he met, and a sweet husband, Dad and friend. He will be sadly missed.
Funeral services were Friday, January 16 at Cross Chapel with Reverends Don Reynolds and Jim Wilcox officiating.
Interment was Saturday, January 1 at Fincastle Cemetery.
Cross Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

M. Pauline Heatherly
M. Pauline Heatherly age 64 of St. Clair Township, OH, died at Ft. Hamilton Hospital Hospice Unit, Friday, January 16, 2004, at 3:40 A.M. She was born in New Miami on March 20, 1939, the daughter of Henry and Anita (Kline) Roysden. Pauline was a very active member of the Richmond Road Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the AMVETS Post #2 Auxiliary and was employed as a bookkeeper for the YMCA for 10 years, retiring in 1998. On October 27, 1962, in Hamilton, OH, she was married to Ralph Heatherly and he preceded her in death in 1997.
Survivors include her son, Lee and his wife Rene Vanderpool of Seven Mile; daughter, Regina (Heatherly) Gleason of Troy, OH; brothers, James Curtis of Kentucky and Michael (Sandra) Roysden of Jamestown, Tennessee; three sisters, Shirley Spahn of Hamilton, Wilma Kinser of Harriman, Tennessee formerly of Oxford, and Tarri (Roger) Hamby of Wartburg, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Megan Heatherly, very devoted to her MeMaw, and Ginny Vanderpool. She also leaves very special aunts; Ruthe Hampton, and Jayne Kline, both of Oxford; her uncles, Leroy Kline of Hamilton and Fred Kline of West Chester and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to express their heart felt thank you to the Vitas Hospice Unit for their caring and support through difficult times especially to Sylvia and Emily.
Funeral services were Jan. 20 at Walters Chapel with Rev. Shawn Durham, Pastor of the Mt. Temin Church of Oakdale, Tennessee officiating. Interment icon was in the Sunrise Cemetery. Walters Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Ruby Clark Hill
Ruby Clark Hill, age 80 of LaFollette died Thursday, January 15, 2004 at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of the Indiana Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Hill enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her daughters, grandchildren and great grandson. She also enjoyed sewing and being a homemaker. Mrs. Hill retired after 20 years of service from Cracker Barrel and was the former owner and operator of Scotties.
Preceded in death by her husband: Odevia Hill who passed away February 28, 1974; parents: Fuller and Dana Williams Clark; brothers: L.C.; Fred; and Junior Clark; sisters: Opal Powell; Ruth Greer and Marie Greer.
Survivors include her daughter: Helen Hill of LaFollette; daughter and son-in-law: Jan and Vernon Reid; grandson: Jason Reid all of Leawood, KS; granddaughter and husband: Aimee and Jessie Hicks; great grandson: Tyler Hicks all of Amsterdam, MO; brother: Kenneth Clark of Arthur, TN; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were Jan. 18 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Cordell and Brother Johnny Massengale officiating. Interment icon was in Campbell Memorial Gardens. Martin Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Harold John Knuth
Harold John Knuth, age 72 of LaFollette died, January 16, 2004 at the Ft. Sander’s Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. He was of the Lutheran Faith. Mr. Knuth enjoyed taking care of his dogs and shooting at targets.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Harold John Sr. and Edna Fritz Knuth.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Charlene and Howard Hill Jr. of Bartlett, IL; Cheryle and Andrew Hayward of Naperville, IL; 6 grandchildren: Dereck Knuth; Tommy and Kayla Hayward: Sara, Jessica, and Hannah Hill; sister: Elaine Lyle of Sacramento, CA; special Friends Danny Driver of Knoxville; Paige Powers of Jacksboro; and a host of other relatives and friends.
No services are planned for Mr. Harold John Knuth. Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Tivis Meredith, Jr.
Tivis Meredith Jr. age 79 of LaFollette died Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at the U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a member of the Indiana Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Meredith was a carpenter and member of Local Union #50. He was also a Navy War World II veteran having served on the USS Howard in the South Pacific. He was retired from Russ Engineering in Oak Ridge with 40 years of service.
Tivis was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting and all of outdoors.
He was preceded in death by parents, Tivis and Carrie Irwin Meredith; brother: John Meredith; sisters, Oral Alexander; Willie Smith; Faye Rutherford; and Mary Ruby Meredith.
Mr. Meredith is survived by his loving wife of 48 years: Margie Meredith of LaFollette; son and daughter-in-law: David and Cassie Meredith of Waverly, OH; daughter: Stephanie Meredith of LaFollette; daughter and son-in-law: Kathy and Steve Hicks of Powell, TN; grandson: Dustin Perkins of Knoxville; granddaughter: Brianna Bolt of Waverly, OH: sister: Joie Ols of Porter, IN; special little friends: MaKayla and Colby Partin of LaFollette; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were Friday, January 16 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Partin officiating. Interment icon was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Martin Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of these arrangements.

Shirley Ann Monday
Shirley Ann Monday, age 55 of Stinking Creek died Jan. 11 at the Jellico Community Hospital.
Survivors include her son, Randy Monday, Duff; daughter, Shennia Monday, Duff; brothers, Arliss Barnhill, Danny Barnhill, Bob Barnhill, all of Williamsburg, Ky, Harold Barnhill, Mi; several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Jan. 14 at the Harp Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimbo Bolton officiating. Interment icon was in the Holt Cemetery. Harp Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Billy Joe Stanfield
Billy Joe Stanfield age 58 of Jellico, formerly of LaFollette, died Wednesday, January 14, 2004, at Jellico Community Hospital. He was a born again Non-Denominational Christian and attended the Broken Heart Ministry Services.
Preceded in death by his wife Joyce Stanfield, his parents Jack and Pauline Stanfield, three brothers, Jack, Charles and Paul and one sister Fay.
Survivors include his daughters, Tina Carol Stanfield of  Texas, Tina Marie Chandler and Misty Childress both of Kentucky; sons, William Stanfield of Georgia and Billy Stanfield, Jr. of Kentucky; fifteen grandchildren; sisters, Priscilla Groff of Columbus, OH, Merl Wilbourne of Linwood, NC; brother David Stanfield of Oil City, LA.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Jan.17 at Walters Chapel with Rev. Steve Perkins officiating. Interment icon was in the Harness Cemetery. Walter Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

John L. Teasley
John L. Teasley, born on Sept. 18, 1921, in Woodridge, Tenn., died Jan. 1, 2004, at the age of 82 years. Mr. Teasley retired from the U.S. Army and also retired from Broadway Bank.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Teasley; daughters, Ruby F. Prata and husband Michael, Heidi Teasley; grandson, Jonathan Teasley and numerous family members.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, Jan. 17, at 2 p.m. at San Antonio Assembly Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 9750 Eagle Crest Blvd. San Antonio,  Texas 78219.
Alamo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
