Pauline (Riggs) Meadors
Pauline (Riggs) Meadors, age 78, of LaFollette, passed away Dec. 14, 2005. She was a member of LaFollette Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman Meadors; parents, Claude and Mary Riggs; sisters, Edna and Geraldine.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty Jones, LaFollette, Cecila McMannus, Logansport, Ind; two grandchildren, Jessica and Charles McMannus; brother, Charles Riggs, Toledo, OH; sisters, Georgia Nelson, Kansas City, Mo, Juanita Dial, LaFollette; special cousin, Euretha Matlock; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral services were Dec. 16 in the Cross Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Armstrong officiating. Interment icon was in the Sunrise Cemetery.
Cross Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Lucille Scharer Queener
Lucille Scharer Queener, age 93 of Jellico, the wife of the late John Glenn Queener, I, passed away Dec. 11, 2005 at the Beech Tree Manor Nursing Home in Jellico. She was a 1930 graduate of South Pittsburg High School and Valedictorian of her class. She came to Jellico in 1993 as a Western Union Operator after working in ten different towns in Tennessee and Alabama. After her children were raised she once again worked for Western Union and then as manager of the Quality Motel in Jellico. She was very active in the Jellico United Methodist Church where she was a long time Sunday School Teacher of the Ladies Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, John Glenn Queener, I; son, John Glenn Queener, II; mother and father; four brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Louis Queener (Darlene) of Port Charlotte, Fla, Charles Reid Queener (Darlene) of Waynesville, NC, Hugh Minton Queener (Lynn) of Brentwood, TN; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Dec. 13 at the Llewellyn Funeral Home with the Rev. Mahan Archer officiating. Interment icon was in the Jellico Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Jellico United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or the Jellico Rescue Squad.
Llewellyn Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Maurice Clyde Asbury
Maurice Clyde Asbury, age 76, of Caryville, passed away Dec. 15, 2005 at Ft. Sanders Hospital in Knoxville. He was a member and Deacon of Caryville First Baptist Church, a Member of Caryville Masonic Lodge and Caryville Chapter OES. Retired from Union Carbide Y-12 Plant in Oak Ridge and was a former General Manager of Dan Branch Mining Company and Subsidiaries. He was also a US Navy Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Lucille Russell Asbury; brothers, Ralph R., James Walter, Homer Rhea (Hutch), and Harold F. Asbury.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Dora Scarbro Asbury, Caryville; son and daughter –in-law, Edward Wesley (Ted) and Dr. Bridgett Asbury, Tifton, Ga; grandchildren, Erin Shannon and Andrew Wesley Asbury, Tifton, Ga.; sister, Norma Jean Asbury, Jacksboro; sisters-in-law, Mildred B. Asbury, LaFollette and Janice M. Asbury, Knoxville; nieces and nephews, Jennifer and husband Jason Hicks and daughter Janie, Knoxville, Susan Asbury-Newsome and husband Dr. Brian Newsome and son, Braden of Rochester, NY, Dr. Kara L. Asbury, Nashville, Mary Elizabeth Asbury, Rennie and husband John Morris and daughter Margaret of Knoxville; mother-in-law, Ethel Scarbro, Lake City; sister-in-law and husband, Sue Ann and Gerald W. Pratt of Knoxville.
Funeral services were Dec. 17 at the Caryville First Baptist Church with Dr. T.D. Hooker and Rev. Lyle White officiating. Interment icon was in the Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Caryville First Baptist Church or Caryville United Methodist Church.

Charles Ivan Clotfelter
Charles Ivan Clotfelter, age 77 of Knoxville passed away Dec. 4, 2005 at Baptist Hospital. He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Lee Clotfelter; sister, Uldean Wilson; brothers, W.L. and Ray Clotfelter.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Clotfelter; children, Benny Clotfelter and wife, Carol, Vickie Kerr and husband, Jerry, Pat Cardwell and husband, Gary, Tammy George and husband, Kendall; step children, Joe Cooper and wife, Kathy, Margaret Walters and husband, Mike, Mark Cooper and wife, Tammy; grandchildren, Greg Clotfelter, Chris Clotfelter, Allison Palmer, David Clotfelter, Justin Cardwell, Kristi Cardwell, Morgan George; step grandchildren, Anthony Cooper, Cody Walters, Seth Cooper; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Mynatt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Hill, Rev. Bill Ellis and Rev. Harold Ellis officiating. Interment icon was in the Harness Cemetery, Caryville.
Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

John Edward Cox
John Edward Cox, age 41, of 1515 Allen Lane, Hillsborough, died peacefully on Dec. 22, 2005, in Hospice at the Meadowlands.
He was the son of the late John Elmer and Ruby Lee Lovett Cox. He was a graduate of Orange High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from NCCU in Durham, NC. He graduated with honors as a Magna Cum Laude recipient. He was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Elmer and Ruby Lee Lovett Cox; paternal grandparents, Edward and Etta Daugherty of Caryville; maternal grandparents, Frank and Judith Dyke Lovett of LaFollette.
He is survived by his daughter, Scarlette Ashley Cox and wife, Carol Chestnut Cox, both of Durham; parents, Jim and Bertha Lovett Carter, of Hillsborough; sisters, Deborah Cox Fox and husband, Willie, of Hillsborough and Erin Carter of Hillsborough; brothers, Larry Cox and David Carter and wife, Megan, of Hillsborough; aunts, Janet Lovett, of Hillsborough, Callie Lovett Stuart and husband, A.D., of Richmond, VA, Janie and Jim Head of Long Beach, MS, Nancy and Albert (Dude) Hickey of Jacksboro, Sue Cox Morton of LaFollette; uncles, J.T. Lovett and wife, Dar, of Hermitage, Bobbie Cox, Edward and Brenda Cox and Dean Cox, all of Caryville; grandfather, Spurgeon Carter, of Hillsborough.
Funeral services were conducted Dec. 27 at Mars Hill Baptist Church. Private entombment will be in the church cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Hospice at the Meadowlands, 1001 Corporate Drive, Hillsborough, NC 27278.

Ricky Leland Ellison
Ricky Leland Ellison, age 45, of Speedwell, passed away Dec. 21, 2005 at Claiborne County Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Dallie Mae Woodby Ellison; brothers, Ben Franklin and Lawrence Ellison.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Sue Staggs Ellison; stepchildren, Randy, Susie, Bronson and Nathanial; sisters, Judy and husband David Bennett, Ethel Charlene Ellison; brother, Fredrick Gene Ellison; nephews, Howard Ellison, David and Sam Bennett; a host of friends and relatives; former wife, Lorenda Darlene (T.J.) Snapp Ellison.
Graveside services and interment icon were held Dec. 26 at the Ellison-Woodby Cemetery with military Honors and Rev. Ralph Mundy officiating.
Cross Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Gerald William Howard
Gerald William Howard, age 66 of LaFollette passed away Dec. 21, 2005 at the St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell County. He was of the Baptist Faith. He loved to watch golf, football and baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Hazel Gephardt Howard.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Howard of LaFollette; sons, Joshua Howard of LaFollette, Todd Howard of Ind, Jerry Jr., Brett and Scott Howard all of OH; four grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Dec.24 in the Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Arnold officiating. Interment icon was in the Victory Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Martin Wilson Funeral Home, 700 West Central Avenue, LaFollette, TN, 37766. All donations will be applied to the funeral expenses.

Edward Hubbard
Edward Hubbard, age 62, of LaFollette, passed away Dec. 25, 2005 at his home. He was a member of the Lighthouse Fellowship Church of God
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lassie Sharp Hubbard; brother, Charles Hubbard.
He is survived by his wife, Linda S. Hubbard; daughters, Angela Wilson, Sabrina Hubbard, Samantha Bailey, Sara Hubbard; sons, Eddie Hubbard, Paul Hubbard, Anthony Hubbard, Tim Hubbard and David Hubbard; stepchildren, Tina Pierce and Wayne Farmer; brothers, Paul Hubbard, Robert Hubbard, Earl Hubbard.
Funeral services were Dec. 28 at the Cross Chapel with Bro. Rick Bolinger and Rev. Ralph Combs officiating. Interment icon will be at 10 a.m. on Dec. 29 at Powell Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lighthouse Fellowship Church of God; P.O. Box 777, Caryville, TN 37714 for funeral expenses.
