Sgt. Toby Will Evans
Sgt. Toby Will Evans, age 23 of Cumberland Gap passed away April 15, 2006. He was member of Gap Creek Baptist Church and on active duty with the 82 nd Airborne Division 2 nd 504 th, Ft. Bragg, NC, recently deployed in Afghanistan. He was awarded the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
He is survived by his parents, Jack and Robin Patterson Evans of Cumberland Gap; sisters, Molly (Glen) Smith of Ewing, Va, Ashley (Chris) Cutcher of Speedwell; brothers, Jack (Jamie) Evans, Jr. of Tazewell; grandfather, Harold Patterson; special girlfriend, Jessica Givens; aunts and uncles, Clarence (Pat) Evans, Bill (Lela) Evans, Mike (Vicky) Evans, Opal (Jack) Burns, Dale (Juanita) Russell, Louise (Arden) Leach, Charles (Edna) Money, Jay (Sharon) Patterson; nieces and nephews, Brooklyn Smith, Caitlyn Smith, George Smith, Jacob Smith and Makayla Cutcher.
Funeral services were held April 19 in the Reece Valley Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Partin and Rev. Jack Burns officiating. Interment icon was in the Evans Family Cemetery with full military honors.
Reece Funeral Home and Valley Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

Paul Robert Freel
Paul Robert Freel, age 74 of Jacksboro passed away April 12, 2006 at the U.T. Hospital in Knoxville. He was a member of the Campbell County Honor Guard, the VFW and the American Legion. He was also a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy L. Freel; parents, Earl C. and Mary Irene Duff Freel.
He is survived by his nephews, Charles Freel of Taylor, MI, William Freel of Mahma Junction, MI, Thomas Schink of Deaborn, MI; great nephews, William, Anthony and Thomas Freel and Thomas Schink; great nieces, Cassandra and Angelia Freel and Hailey Schink and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held April 18 in the Campbell Memorial Gardens with Rev. LeRoy Braden officiating. The Campbell County Honor Guard was in charge of graveside services.
Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Jean Hensley
Jean Hensley, age 79, a resident of LaFollette passed away April 14, 2006 at St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell County. She was born November 15, 1926 in Oliver Springs, living in LaFollette since 1969. She was a member of the Frost Bottom Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and doing needlepoint in her spare time.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Danny C. Hensley and Bobby Hensley; parents, Oxie and Carrie Ann Duncan Russell; sister, Dolerna Ollis.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Claude Cordell Hensley of LaFollette; daughter, Linda Miller and husband, Terry of LaFollette; grandchildren, Denise Pruitt, Kevin Hensley, Chad Hensley, Leslie Miller, Amy Hensley, Miranda Hodge and Terry Vance Miller; great grandchildren, Jeremiah Pruitt and Heath Pruitt, Shaun Hensley and Joey Hensley; brother, Oxie Russell, Jr. of Oliver Springs; sister, Viola Ashley of Oliver Springs; three brothers in law and six sisters in law; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Funeral services were held April 16 at Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Tommy Hensley officiating. Interment icon was in the Frost Bottom Cemetery.
Sharp Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

America Ann Taylor Inman
America Ann Taylor Inman, age 82 passed away April 16, 2006 at the Claiborne County Hospital. She was born February 9, 1924 in Harlan County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Wilburn Taylor and Bertha Smith Taylor. She believed in the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Daniel Inman; brothers, William “Bill” Taylor, Oscar Taylor, Hobert Taylor, Walter Taylor, Tilman Taylor, Enoch Taylor, Harvey Taylor, Leroy Taylor, Paris Taylor and Henry Taylor; sister, Reethy Taylor Morris.
She is survived by her only son, Ira N. and wife, Kara Inman; grandsons, Christopher Inman and Joshua Inman; granddaughter, Ashley Inman, all of Speedwell; brother, Jack Taylor of OH; a host of nieces, nephews and special friend, Ruby Carroll, all of Speedwell.
Funeral services will be April 20 at 2 p.m. in the Reece Valley Chapel with the Rev. Mark Bayless officiating. Interment icon will follow in the Greenhills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro, KY.
Reece Funeral Home and Valley Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

John Leazier
John Leazier, age 75 of Briceville, passed away April 11, 2006 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed being retired, swimming, and especially spending time with his family and friends. He was born August 5, 1930 to the late William George and Mary Hawkins Leazier.
He preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Ruth Leazier, and grandson, Travis Mowery.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Christine Leazier of Briceville; sons, James and Cindy Leazier of Ind, Johnny Guy Leazier of KS; daughter, Janet Mounce of Ind; step sons, Larry and Cheryl Lindsay of Briceville, Jerry and Kitty Lindsay of Lake City, Rev. Jimmy and Mickey Lindsay of Briceville, Mitchell Lindsay of Briceville; step daughters, Joyce and James Jeffers of Jacksboro, Donna and Jerry Mowery of Lake City, Kathy and Gary Prosise of Briceville, Pam Moses of Jacksboro; grandchildren, Hannah Standerfer, Jeff, Heather, Megan, Eric, Lisa, Adam, Jennie, and Kelsey Leazier, Travis Mounce, Carrie Winley, Lori Wilson, Micheal, Laquita, Jerry II, Chris, James, Michelle, and Adam Lindsay, Shaun McCoy, Tomeka Mozingo, Christy Wilson, Amber Marlow, Tiffany Darnell, Brandon, Cassey, and Haley Prosise; ten great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held April 14 in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Lindsay officiating. Interment icon was in the Child’s Cemetery.
Hatmaker Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Brenda Owens
Brenda Owens, age 57 of Jacksboro passed away April 12, 2006 at the St. Mary’s Hospice in Knoxville. She was a member of Cherry Bottom Baptist Church. She loved working with flowers and her family was her life including her grandchildren. She had been employed by St. Mary’s for seven years.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Brenda Kay; parents, Colombus and Eva Woods Adkins; sisters, Jean Ann Adkins and Juanita McGhee; brother, Harold Lee Adkins; father in law, Herbert Owens.
She is survived by her husband, Everett Owens of Jacksboro; sons and daughter in laws, Timothy and Charlotte Owens of Caryville, Richie Scott and Laura Owens of Claxton, Benny Lee and Michelle Owens of Jacksboro, Justin Brian and Jodi Owens of Jacksboro; grandchildren, Zachary, Morgan, Jacob, Tyler, Logan, Caleb and Kaden Owens; brothers, Chester Adkins of Huntsville and Clifton Adkins of Caryville; sister, Norma Jean Rector of Senora, KY; mother in law, Ruth Owens of Jacksboro; special sister in law, Donna Owens; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were April 14 in the Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. David Walker officiating. Interment icon was in the Campbell Memorial Gardens.

Lena E. Paul
Lena E. Paul, age 89 of the Glade Springs Community, LaFollette, passed away April 12, 2006 at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. She was a member of the Glade Springs Baptist Church, former employee of Imperial Reading Corporation.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elijah Paul on October 4, 1995; sons, Alvis Elijah Paul Jr., and Roy Walter Paul; her parents, John and Elizabeth Proffitt; son-in-law, Charles Russell; brothers and sisters, Myrtle Thomas, Mae Evans, Esco Proffitt, Bertha Copeland, Lovetta Parrott, Verlin Proffitt, Charles Proffitt, James Proffitt, Sallie Hale and two infants.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Ray Paul and wife, Patsy; daughters, Helen Russell and Mary Lucille Watson and husband, P.L. all of LaFollette; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brother, Can Proffitt of Bethel, OH; special friends and caregivers, Dean Gibson, Billie Boshears, and Agnes Pierce; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were April 15 at Walters Chapel with Rev. Don Reynolds and Rev. Leroy Braden officiating. Interment icon was in the Glade Springs Cemetery.
Walters Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Alta Mae Roark
Alta Mae Roark, age 89, formerly of Vasper passed away April 14, 2006. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed music and reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. T.H. Roark; son, Wendell Roark; parents, Matt and Bird Ward.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Wendy Normandin of  Oklahoma City, Barry Roark of Fla, Michael Roark of Mt. Vernon, KY and Brian Roark of Caryville; sisters, Grace Brown and Mary Bice of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews.
