Mrs. Dorothy Faye Thomason Allen, 67, a resident of Joy Road in the Mt. Joy Community, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mrs. Allen will be conducted Friday, March 11, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Elmer Crosby officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 5:00 until 9:00 pm at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Claude and Nettie McKennon Thomason and wife of Jerry C. Allen. She was a retired seamstress from Southeastern Manufacturing Company, a homemaker, an avid gardener and a member of Allensville Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Dianne (William) Dunnebacke of Columbia and Judy (Steve) Wade of Mt. Pleasant; a son, Michael (Cheryl) Allen of Hohenwald; three brothers, C.C. (Jean) Thomason of Mt. Joy Community, Edward Thomason of Summertown and Robert (Lucille) Thomason of Murfreesboro; five grandchildren, Will Dunnebacke of Columbia, Emily Wade and Timothy Wade, both of Mt. Pleasant, Tyler Allen and Hannah Allen, both of Hohenwald; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dena Foster and Rena Dycus; three brothers, Ulna Thomason, Ernest Thomason and David Thomason.

Pallbearers will be Allison Allen, Tyler Allen, Steve Wade, Timothy Wade, William Dunnebacke, Will Dunnebacke and Tony Foster. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Thomason, Ray Thomason, Terry Thomason, Brandon Burns, Johnny Boshers and the deacons of Allensville Baptist Church.

Margaret Chapman Attkisson

Born in Maury County, TN on Apr. 17, 1937

Departed on Mar. 10, 2005 and resided in Mt. Pleasant, TN.

Mrs. Margaret Ann Chapman Attkisson, 67, a resident of Elk Ridge Road in the Watts Hill Community, died Thursday, March 10, 2005 at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mrs. Attkisson will be conducted Saturday, March 12, 2005 at 10:30 am at the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Randy McNeece officiating. Burial will be in Watts Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 5:00 until 9:00 pm at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Floyd Harold and Christine Alexander Chapman and wife of the late Lewis Martin Attkisson. She was a retired CNA for Heritage Manor, a homemaker and a member of Spencer Hill Church of Christ. She loved quilting and gardening and collected hummingbirds and angels.

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Stanage of Watts Hill Community; five sons, Wade (Jo Ann) Attkisson of Summertown, James (Dolly) Attkisson of Watts Hill, Kenny (Dee) Attkisson of Osage, KS, Ronnie Attkisson of Watts Hill and Donnie (Carlos) Attkisson of Summertown; a sister, Vondell (Dewey) Sanders of Bellville, MI; three brothers, Floyd Harold (Martha) Chapman, Jr., Wallace (Faye) Chapman and Henry (Linda) Chapman, all of Watts Hill; 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Gracie Chapman.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Attkisson, Jake Attkisson, Corey Stanage, Jason Stanage, David Chapman and Patrick Chapman. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Spencer Hill Church of Christ.

Nellie Thompson Pinkard

Born in Giles County, TN on May 20, 1937

Departed on Mar. 12, 2005 and resided in Mt. Pleasant, TN.

Mrs. Nellie Marie Thompson Pinkard, 67, a resident of North Locust Street in Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pinkard will be conducted Monday, March 14, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Randy Kersey and Jeff Waldrop officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 3:00 until 9:00 pm at the funeral home.

Born in Giles County, she was the daughter of the late George Hubb and Ruby Ellen Russell Woodard and widow of William Dean Thompson. She was a cook at various restaurants and a member of the Main Street Church of Christ.

She is survived by two daughters, Wanda G. Thompson of Mt. Pleasant and Brenda Thompson of Columbia; a son, Larry (Mary) Thompson of Mt. Pleasant; a grandson, Jessie Thompson of Mt. Pleasant; three brothers, David Woodard of Columbia, Joe Woodard of Lynnville and Charles (Brenda) Woodard of Lewisburg; two sisters, Geraldine Martin of Pulaski and Annette Woodard of Lynnville.

Pallbearers will be Terry Hughes, Mike Powell, Byron Jones, Ricky Lemay, James Robb and Roy Fuller. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Brawner, Linda Clark, Alan Clark, Harold and Kitty Wood, Gayle and Butch Hughes, Dr. Freels, Dr. Couch, Dr. Wyatt, Dr. Iverson and the nurses of CCU at Maury Regional Hospital.

Carter Dean

Born in Giles County, TN on Apr. 5, 1920

Departed on Mar. 14, 2005 and resided in Columbia, TN.

Service: Wednesday Mar. 16, 2005

Mr. Carter Dean, 84, a resident of Roberts Drive in Columbia, died Monday, March 14, 2005 at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Dean will be conducted Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at 1:00 pm at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rick Points officiating. Burial will be in the Lynnwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 2:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.

Born in Giles County, he was the son of the late Jack and Mammie Rosson Dean and husband of the late Ada Hendrix. He was a self employed farm laborer, working tobacco for Porter House and a fruit picker in Florida. He attended the Baptist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Jimmy Wayne (Wanda) Dean of Mt. Pleasant and Carl Ray Dean of Columbia; a daughter, Joyce Ann Dean of Columbia; two step daughters, Josie (John) Boswell of Lynnville and Christine (R.C.) Oliver of Columbia; two step sons, William (Dorothy Faye) Hendrix of Spring Hill and James Hendrix of Columbia; five grandchildren, Sharon (Rick) Tiffner and Thomas Wayne Dean, both of Mt. Pleasant, Eddie Loyd Norman of Columbia, Brooke Raines of Pulaski and Jerry Ray Dean of California; three great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Larry Jett, Rick Tiffner, Thomas Dean, R.C. Oliver and Terry Ray Oliver. Honorary pallbearers will be staff and employees of Hidden Acres Nursing Home.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Richard Edwin Hanner, Sr.

Born in Denver, CO on Jan. 5, 1930

Mr. Richard Edwin Hanner, Sr., 75, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at his residence on Pine Circle in Lawrenceburg.

A memorial service for Mr. Hanner will be conducted Thursday, March 17, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at the Mimosa Masonic Lodge in Lawrenceburg. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the masonic lodge . Williams Funeral Home of Columbia is in charge of local arrangements.

Born in Denver, Colorado, he was the son of the late James P. and Dorothy Dardis Hanner and husband of Frances Blakemore Hanner. Mr. Hanner was the owner of Hanner & Associates, a real-estate and stockbroker firm. He was a member of the Mimosa Masonic Lodge #542, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Shriner and a member of the Lawrenceburg Rotary.

He is survived by two daughters, Dorothy (Mark) Merriman of Marietta, GA and Lisa Biddulph of Taylorsville, GA; sons, Richard Hanner, Jr. of Augusta, GA and Gary (Lissa) Hanner of Guffey, CO; a sister, Claire Stuart of Greenville, SC; 12 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society or to a charity of choice.

Robert Christmas

Born in Wilmington, NC on Aug. 29, 1950

Mr. Robert Ralph “Bobby” Christmas, 54, a resident of Cumberland Road in Fayetteville, NC, died Friday, March 25, 2005 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, NC.

Graveside services for Mr. Christmas will be 11:00 am Saturday, April 9, 2005, at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rick Points officiating. The family will visit with friends from 9:00 to 10:30 am Saturday at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.

Born in Wilmington, NC, he was the son of the late Major Ralph and Myrtle Cartret Christmas.

He is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Michelle Hampton of Wilmington, NC; two brothers, Garland (Carolyn) Cartret of Columbia and Ralph Christmas, Jr. of Wilmington, NC; three sisters, Mrs. Robert Baker, Mrs. Dorina Login and Mrs. Hal O’Quinn, all of Wilmington, NC; a nephew, Jay Cartret of Columbia; two nieces, Donna Wylie and Karisa Walton, both of Columbia.

Daniel James Oldaker

Born in Tucson, AZ on May 11, 1945

Departed on Apr. 6, 2005 and resided in Clifton, TN.

Mr. Daniel James Oldaker, 59, a beloved husband and father and a resident of West Water Street in Clifton, TN, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at the Veterans Hospital in Nashville, TN, after an extended illness.

A memorial service for Mr. Oldaker will be conducted Saturday, April 9, 2005 at 2:00 pm at Clifton United Methodist Church in Clifton, TN with Rev. Don Spencer officiating. Inurnment will be at a later time in Decatur County Memorial Gardens in Parsons, TN. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 1:00 until service time at the church.

Born in Tuscon, Arizona, he was the son of late Virginia Ruth Wakefield and the husband of Gwyn Yvonne Gaither Oldaker. Mr. Oldaker was a retired Green Beret Sergeant with the Army Special Forces during the Vietnam Conflict in which he served two tours of duty. He was decorated with the National Defense Medal, Expert Rifle Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, ARCOM Medal and a Purple Heart Medal. He held a Masters Degree in Engineering from the University of Southern California. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Rotary Club in Clifton.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Shelli L. Oldaker of Seal Beach, CA and Kristi K. Oldaker of Orange, CA; a sister, Mrs. Susan K. (Dennis) Petty of Springfield, IL; a brother, Christopher (Christine) Perry of Nevsass, Germany; a beloved aunt, Betty Davis of Sedona, AZ; several cousins.

All the Vietnam Veterans will be honorary pallbearers.
