SONORA,  Calif. -- Louise N. McLean, 75, formerly Louise N. Cook of Mt. Pleasant, died Nov. 21, 2001, at a health care facility in Sonora,  Calif., after a gallant battle with Alzheimer's disease.

A private family celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Cremation is planned, and her ashes are to be scattered at sea.

Mrs. McLean was born July 16, 1926, in Obion County, Tenn., and was raised on a small farm in Fulton, Ky. She graduated from the University of Tennessee before marrying David Crockett Cook II and settling in Mt. Pleasant, where she was a teacher and mother.

Crockett Cook and his father, Dave Cook, were owners and operators of Cook Furniture Company in Mt. Pleasant for many years. Mrs. McLean served as a Girl Scout leader and enjoyed being an organist and member of the choir of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant.

After her husband's death in 1958, she returned to the University of Tennessee where she completed her master's degree. She was an active member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Redondo Beach,  Calif., and their Clipper Ship Group. Also, she was an active participant with the California Retired Teachers Association.

Her leisure time was spent sailing, golfing, traveling and enjoying music, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. McLean was widowed a second time in 1989 and later joined her daughter in Sonora,  Calif., in 1997. She delighted in the activities at Skyline Place and later at Goldridge and the Adult Day Health Care Center at Tuolumne General Hospital.

She was loved by all who met her and brought joy to and touched the hearts of all she had contact with until her last day.

Mrs. McLean was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Cook II; and her mother-in-law, Sue Cardwell Cook, both of Mt. Pleasant.

Mrs. McLean is survived by her daughter, Cindy Hall of Sonora,  Calif.; a son and daughter-in-law, David C. Cook III and Debbie Cook of Whittier,  Calif.; four grandchildren, Sacha Hall and Ryan Hall, formerly of Sonora,  Calif., and Kelly and Chelsey Cook, both of Whittier,  Calif.; a stepson, John McLean of Marina Del Rey,  Calif.; a sister, Dorothy Nanney of Bowling Green, Ky.; a niece, Susie Eskew Boshers of Columbia; and a nephew, Webb Clinton Eskew of Knoxville.
