Calvin Wayne Boshers

MT. PLEASANT - Mr. Calvin Wayne Boshers, 59, a resident of Baptist Branch Road near Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, October 28, 2003, at Centennial Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mr. Boshers will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home with the Reverend J.C. Christian officiating. Burial will be in the Arlington Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the son of Mary Juanita Holt Boshers Thomason of Mt. Pleasant and the late Calvin Lewis Boshers. He was a retired manager for AT&T, former co-owner of Ace Hardware in Mt. Pleasant, and former owner of Sears in Lawrenceburg. He was currently an employee of Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse of Columbia. He was a member of the Baptist Church and proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Melissa Ellis of Clarksville, TN; a brother, Randy (Sandy) Thomason of Decatur, AL; three grandchildren, Danyle Ellis, Johnny Ellis, and Kristin Ellis all of Clarksville, TN; a niece, Amanda Thomason of Decatur, AL; several cousins.

Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be friends of AT&T and Lowe's.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1212 Columbia, Tennessee 38402-1212.

Henry Smith Forrest

Henry Smith Forrest, 81, died, Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bennett-May Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Witt Forrest; a son, Robert E. Forrest of Key West, Fla.; daughters, Betty F. Robinson of Owings Mills, Md., and Jean F. Helekjaer of Beverly Hills, Mich.; brother-in-law, Carter Witt of Lynnville; and eight grandchildren.

Johnny Flippen

CORNERSVILLE -- Johnny (Jacky) Flippen, 63, of Cornersville, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Bennett officiating. Burial will be in the Cross Keys Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was a native of Williamson county, son of the late Robert A. and Ella Kate Reed Flippen. He was a former packing room foreman for Durango Boot Co., and for several years employed by Walker Die Casting in Lewisburg.

Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Stacey Flippen of Cornersville; sons, Timothy Leon Flippen of Bethesda, Johnathan Derek Flippen of Cornersville, James A. Kelly of Chapel Hill; brothers, Robert A. (Jimmy) Flippen of Bethesda, Jerry Reed Flippen of College Grove; sister Eveie Flippen Purdom of Chapel Hill; and four grandchildren.

Norma Smith

PARIS -- Norma Lucille Davis Smith, 79, died Sunday, April 7, 2002.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at East Wood Church of Christ with Roger Banks officiating; and at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Neely's Bend Church of Christ in Madison with Norman Slate officiating.

She was the daughter of the late William Robert Davis and Audra Moore Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Everett Smith.

Survivors include a daughter, Lois Elaine Smith Mecord of Paris; sons, William Lee Smith of Milan and Douglas Paul Smith of Columbia; a sister, Eloise Cline of Elizabeth, W.Va.; and nine grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to The East Wood Church of Christ or the HCMC Auxiliary.

James Jewell Jacobs Jr.

SPRING HILL -- James Jewell Jacobs Jr., 81, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at Williamson Medical Center.

Services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Saturday at Grace Episcopal Church in Spring Hill.

He was born in Bunkie, La., son of the late James Jewell Jacobs Sr. and Emily Louise Roberts Jacobs, and made his home in Spring Hill.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for many years abroad for major oil corporations in the Middle East, South America, Africa and other regions.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Elizabeth Hilton Jacobs of Spring Hill; sons, Samuel James Jacobs and William Patrick Jacobs Sr., both of Spring Hill, and Ronald Dale Jacobs of Austin,  Texas; a sister, Vivian Sauce of Houma, La.; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Willowbrook Hospice or American Cancer Society.

Spring Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ruby Groves Berry Church

Mrs. Ruby Groves Berry Church, 88, retired from E.I. DuPont Corporation and long-time resident of the Darks Mill Road in the Athendale Community, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at Life Care Center.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Groves Cemetery in Hickman County.

The family will visit with friends after 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Godwin-Chappell United Methodist Church.

The Hickman County native was reared in the Fly Community in Maury County where her parents, the late Daniel Abraham Groves and Ethel Vaughan Groves, were merchants.

She was a graduate of the Roach School and Santa Fe School where she was a member of the basketball team.

A long-time member of the Godwin-Chappell United Methodist Church, Mrs. Church was also a volunteer with the Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary.

She was first married to the late James I. "Pete" Berry. On Nov. 16, 1956, she married Howard William Church, who preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1994.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Groves (Jo Ann) Berry of Columbia and Larry Erwin (Dollie) Berry of Hendersonville, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Perry (Nancy) Upshaw of Lewisburg and Mrs. J.W. (Jane Ann) Slaughter of the Athendale Community; five grandchildren, Natalie Jo Berry of Asheville, N.C., Jeffrey S. Berry, Mrs. R. Wayne (Jeannie) Harris and Mrs. Mike (Jill) Webster of Columbia and Mrs. Kenneth (Julie) Jarratt of Huntsville, Ala.; four stepgrandchildren, Jonathon C. Slaughter and Jeremy W. Slaughter, both of Columbia, David M. Upshaw of Franklin and Mark V. (Kim) Upshaw of Memphis; two nieces, Mrs. Paul (Starling) Grisham of Tifton, Ga., and Mrs. Charles (Gail) Pigg of Santa Fe; two nephews, Dwight I. (Darlene) Groves of the Bear Creek Community and Harry (Peggy) Rountree of Santa Fe; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sondra Sue Berry; a grandson, Leslie Erwin Berry; a great-grandson, Jeffrey Cheyenne Berry; and a sister, Mrs. Paul (Mary) Rountree.

Active pallbearers are Jeffrey S. Berry, Dwight I. Groves, R. Wayne Harris, Kenneth Jarratt Sr., Charles Pigg, Harry Rountree, Jonathon C. Slaughter, Jeremy W. Slaughter, David M. Upshaw, Mark V. Upshaw and Mike Webster.

Honorary pallbearers include Wally S. Beasley Jr., Bobby Troope, Edward Lewis Adams, Leo Adams, Carl E. Church, Darrin Church, Derek Church, Dodd Church, Jerry Church, Leon Church, O.G. Church, Terry Church, M. Thomas Culberson, Wayne Fitzgerald, Carl T. Gardner, Dr. Dennis R. Gardner, the Rev. James W. Gardner, Jerry S. Gardner, Randy Gardner, Sheriff Enoch George, Robert George, Eldridge McMeen, Freeland McMeen, Billy Puckett, William G. Scott, Carl Harris Sellers, Joe Tomlin, Larry Winchester, Keith Winchester and the congregation of Godwin-Chappell United Methodist Church.

Mr. R.B. Toone

Mr. R.B. Toone, 87, a resident and former Mayor of Spring Hill and retired twenty-nine year employe of Union Carbide Corporation, died Friday, June 6, 2003 at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Re. Phillip Wright officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin Amercian Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends after 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home concluding with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Shrine Children's Hospital, in care of Maury County Shrine Club, P.O. Box 890, Columbia, 38402 or the American Heart Association, 1818 Patterson Street, Nashville, 37203.

A native of Limestone County, Alabama, he was th eson of the late Edgar Shirrell Toone and Myrtle Tillery Toone. A forty-two year retiree from the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy Reserves, he was a veteran of Wrold War II and the Korean War. Mr. Toone was a fifty year Mason.

Survivors inlcude a brother, Harry Gene Toone of Villa Rica, Georgia; special friends, Margaret Robertson and Jack Robertson of Sprin Hill; a step-daughter, Marjorie Bronson of Southport; a step-son, James Randall of Columbia; three step-grandchildren; nine step-greatgrandchildren; six step-great, greatgrandchildren; He was preceded in death by his wife Elsie A. Hutcherson Toone; as sister Ila Dean Richardson; three brothers, Elbert Toone, Donald Toone and Wendell Toone.

Active pallbearers are L.T. Anderson, James Smotherson, George Jones, George Horne, Jim Shiver, Clarence LIndsey, Rex Toone and Danny Toone.

Honorary pallbearers include; Jack Robertson, Doug Robertston, Ray Williams, Donald "Bud" Underwood, Kenneth Brown, Garland Glenn, Clyde Farmer, Jeffrey Williams, Larry Atema, Dale Ring, Jay Farmer, Alfred Martin and staff of NHC of Columbia.

Frances Wilkinson

PULASKI -- Frances Daniel Wilkinson, 87, of Pulaski, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at NHC of Pulaski.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Plumlee officiating. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Bennett-May Funeral Home.

She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Fannie Daniel. She was the wife of the late Maurice Edwin Wilkinson.

Survivors include her son, Maurice Wayne "Sonny" (Pat) Wilkinson and Ty (Bonnie) Wilkinson of Sewanee; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Melvin Chapman

Mr. Melvin Chapman, 54, resident of Chatman Road in Mt. Pleasant, died Wednesday, April 03, 2002, in Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Chapman will be conducted at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home with Dalton Cole and Billy Felker officiating.

Burial will follow in the Spencer Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.

He was a native of Giles Co., the son of Bertha Allen Chapman of Mt. Pleasant and the late Looney Chapman. He was the husband of Helen Moore Chapman of Mt. Pleasant. He was a farm supervisor for Clifton Place Farms and attended the Mt. Zion Church of Christ.

In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. David (Donna) Howell and Misty Chapman, both of Mt. Pleasant; four brothers, one son, Jeff (Crystal) Chapman of Mt. Pleasant, Marvin Chapman, Hazel Chapman and Carl Chapman all of Summertown and Forace Chapman of Columbia; one sister, Minnie Nelson of Pulaski; one grandson, Jacob Chapman of Pulaski; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Elwood, Johnny, Horace, Alton and Virgil Chapman.

Pallbearers will be David Chapman, Vance Chapman, Jeff Scott, Gary McKissack, Mike Chapman and Gary Chapman. Honorary Pallbearers will be all employees of Clifto I n Place Farms and JRN, Inc., "A Team."

Paul Oakley Howell

CORNERSVILLE -- Paul Oakley Howell, 86, of Cornersville, died Saturday, June 8, 2002, in Heritage Manor.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cornersville Funeral Home with burial in Gibson Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday and until the funeral hour Tuesday.

He was a native of DeKalb County and son of the late William F. and Jennie May Keith Howell.

He was a retired master barber and member of the Baptist Church.

He is survived by sisters, Mai Howell Reid of Florida and Irene Howell Johnson of  Texas; a brother, Prentice W. Howell of Michigan; and three step grandchildren.

Mr. Robert A. 'Bob' Clark

Mr. Robert A. "Bob" Clark, 56, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at his residence on South 5th Street in Pulaski.

Services for Mr. Clark will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Williams Columbia Funeral Home with the Rev. Floyd West officiating.

The family will visit with friends from 4- 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The Memphis native was the son of the late Thomas W. and Mary Jernigan Clark. He was the husband of Jeannette Palerma Clark of Pulaski. He was self-employed as a faux finish painter and was a decorated veteran of the  Vietnam War.

In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters, Dawn Marie O'Dell of Pulaski, Debra Deanne Clark of Chillicothe, Ohio, and Bobbie Jo Houston of Walls, Miss.; three sons, Robert Allen Clark Jr. of Chillcothe, Ohio, Philip Mathew Clark of Pulaski and Todd Allen Clark of Houston,  Texas; two sisters, Marty Rieck of Moscow, Tenn., and Norma Jean Shoemaker of Goldsboro, N.C.; four brothers, James Clark, Paul Clark and Gary Clark all of Memphis, and Ronald Clark of Pulaski; four stepsons, Jeffrey (Rachel) Davis of Truckee,  Calif., Glenn Davis of Tahoe City,  Calif., Kyle (Jodi) Davis of Homewood,  Calif., and Brian (Erica) Davis of Reno, Nev.

He was preceded in death by a brother, David Clark.

He was well-loved for his sense of humor and caring personality.
