NASHVILLE - John "Buddy" Thomas Baker, 78, of Nashville, died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at his daughter's residence after a short bout with cancer.
Services were conducted Saturday at McEvoy Chapel with Dr. Gary S. Collier officiating.
Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery.
The former Columbia resident was the son of the late Rollin and Helen Eaker.
He was retired with TVA as foreman.
He was a veteran of USMC in World War II. He was a Presbyterian.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Baker.
Survivors include daughters, Susie Vance of Paris and Mary Baker of Nashville; a son, John Baker of Nashville; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
McEvoy Funeral Home in Paris is in charge of arrangements.
Olene Dockery
Olene Dockery, 75, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at Rosewood Manor in Columbia.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at London Funeral Home in Lewisburg.
She was the daughter of the late Willie Bob and Alva Mooningham King. She was retired from Genesco Corporation and was a member of the Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude E. Dockery; a brother, Thomas King; and a sister, Hattie Mae Powell.
Survivors include a daughter, Patsy Diane Burke of Lewisburg; six sons, Phillip Ray Wright of Columbia, Billy Wayne Dockery of Taylor, Mich., Claude Dockery Jr. of Huntsville, Ala., Charles Edward Dockery, James Kenneth Dockery and Roger Dale Dockery, all of Cornersville; a sister, Linda Kay Burrow of Nolensville; two brothers, Carl Wayne King of Cornersville and James King of Lewisburg; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Brown Crouch
Brown Crouch, 78, died Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Viola Cemetery with David Crouch officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 -11 a.m. at the cemetery. McMinnville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was the son of the late Luther and Iran Williams Crouch. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a retired welder with Union Carbide and member of Highland Park Baptist Church in Columbia. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Crouch and a brother, Gordon Crouch.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Helen Akins Crouch of Columbia; son, David Crouch of Tracy City; brother, Edgar Crouch of Columbus, Ohio; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.
Susie Mae Spivey
Susie Mae Spivey, 88, died Wednesday, July 7, 2004, in Wayne Medical Center.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at London Funeral Home with burial in Elk Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Friday and until the funeral hour Saturday at the funeral home.
She was the daughter of the late William Jasper and Delia Barlar Bray. She was retired from Faber Castell Corporation and was a member of the Church Street Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Spivey.
Survivors include daughters, Bobbie June Brown of Lewisburg, Tonja Lee Vencion of Waynesboro and Debra Sue Allen of Decatur, Ala.; sons, James A. "Jim" Spivey of Lewisburg and Larry T. Spivey of Chapel Hill; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Raymond Huey Wilhelm Sr.
Raymond Huey Wilhelm Sr., 83, died Thursday, July 8, 2004, in the Alvin C. York Medical Center in Murfreesboro.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at London Funeral Home in Lewisburg with burial in Round Hill Cemetery at Belfast. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Friday and until the funeral hour Saturday at the funeral home.
He was the son of the late Alonza and Mattie Smith Wilhelm. He was a farmer and retired from Heil-Quaker Corporation. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Virginia Buford Wilhelm of Liberty Valley; sons, Buddy Wilhelm and Johnny Glen Wilhelm, both of Liberty Valley and Mike Wilhelm of Shelbyville; a daughter, Annette Rodgers of Lewisburg; brothers, Donald Wilhelm of Huntsville, Ala., and M.L. Wilhelm of New Hope, Ala.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ross Wendell Gainey
Mr. Ross Wendell "Jack" Gainey, 86, a resident of Mahlon Moore Rd. in Spring Hill, died Thursday, July 8, 2004, at the home of his daughter.
Funeral services for Mr. Gainey will be conducted Sunday July 11, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at the Harvest Community Church in Bloomfield, IN. Burial will be in the Scotland Cemetery in Scotland, IN. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Lester Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, IN.
Born in Greene County, IN., he was the son of the late Samuel Clem and Oma Frances Britton Gainey. He was a retired machinist with the US Government, where he built gunnery. He served in the United States Army Air Corps, where he flew 27 successful bombing missions over Germany during WWII and was an avid collector of Indian artifacts and arrowheads.
He is survived by a daughter, Tonda (Keith) Siders of Spring Hill; three grandchildren, Austin Keith, Andrea Lauren and Ashton Leigh Siders, all of Spring Hill; four sisters of Indiana.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters

Betty Ann Doty, 62, of Columbia, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at National Health Care.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Carr & Erwin Funeral Home. Burial will be in Massey Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Carr & Erwin Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband, Mitchell Doty of Columbia; sons, Mark Mitchell Doty of Columbia and David Neggley of Pennsylvania; daughter, Elizabeth Blaak of Pennsylvania; and five grandchildren.
Hubert Paul Carr
Hubert Paul Carr, 84, of Louisville, Ky., died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at Norton Audubon.

The Giles County native was retired from L & N Railroad and Humana Hospital in Louisville, Ky. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the son of the late Samuel W. and Ada Shelton Carr. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Ronald and Samuel Carr.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Tillery Carr of Louisville, Ky.; children, William Spears, Pat Carr, Tom Carr; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
William H. Cook
William H. Cook, 75, of the Wheel Community, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at Bedford County Hospital in Shelbyville.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Shilosh United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday. Burial will be in the Wheel Cemetery.
The Marshall County native was a farmer and U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church. He was the son of the late Williams Thomas and Rosie Alice Glasscock Cook. He was also preceded in death by a son, William Kenneth Cook.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jane Foster Cook; sons, William Randall Cook of Lewisburg and Roger Kevin Cook of the Wheel Community; daughter, Rebecca Jane Spradling of Moore, Oklahoma; brother, Earl Cook of Lewisburg; and three grandsons.

Stanley Pirtle
Stanley Mount Pirtle, 68, of Centerville, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at Baptist Hospital in Nashville.
Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at McDonald Funeral Home with Earl Claude officiating. Burial will be in the Plunkett Cemetery in Centerville.
He was employed in the plastics industry as a mold injector. He was the husband of Nancy Pirtle. He was the son of the late Carrie Campbell and Elmer Pirtle.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Carrie Pirtle of Fayetteville; brothers, Richard Pirtle of Nashville and Jerry Pirtle of Washington; and a sister, Peggy Carrol.

Mary Virgie Toone Watkins, 79, of Lewisburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in Ardmore, Ala. with Harold Whitt officiating. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore, Ala.
She was the daughter of the late Susan Louisa Malone Toone and Thomas Raymond Toone. She was the wife of the late William Curtis "Bobby" Watkins. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Buddy Toone and sisters, Elease Luna, Aldeena Faulkenberry, Martha Hemphill, Beatrice Eckstein, Alma Smith.
Survivors include sons, Mike Watkins, Jerry Watkins and Rickey Watkins of Lewisburg, Bobby Watkins of Hohenwald and Jimmy Watkins of Columbia; daughters, Catha Reese of Columbia, Sharon Hargrove, Becky Pete, and Millie Middleton, all of Lewisburg, Sandra Fleck of Chattanooga and Patsy Brown of Olive Branch, Miss.; sister, Tommie Whitt of Ardmore, Ala.; 23 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Ocie Lee Peeler Johns
Mrs. Ocie Lee Peeler Johns, 80, retired secretary for Johns & Lynn, Inc. and resident of the Cross Bridges Community, died Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Elmer Crosby officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The Hickman County native was the daughter of the late Osa Simon Peeler and Nora Lee Howell Peeler. She was married to Mahlon Johns who preceded her in death on January 28, 1997. Mrs. Johns was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church in the Cross Bridges Community, where she had formerly served as church clerk and was a longtime Sunday School for the Young People.
Survivors include three daughters, Flora (Nathan) McKennon of Cross Bridges, Nora (Bobby) Cecil of Columbia, Brenda (Steve) Menees of Huntsville, Ala.; twin sister, Mrs. Willie Johnson of Franklin; six grandchildren, Lori (Mike) Cook, Connie (Kent) Simmons, Michael McKennon, Brad (Chandra) Cecil, Timothy Menees, Tyler Menees; and four great grandchildren, Shelby Cook, Jackson Cook, Blake Simmons and McKenzie Simmons.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Cecil, Michael McKennon, Mike Cook, Steve Menees, Kent Simmons, Brad Cecil, Henry Menees and J.C. Williams.

Ms. Patsy Mae Horton, 68, of Columbia, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at Columbia Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Visitation with the family will be from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at V.K. Ryan & Son Funeral Home.
Graveside Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rosemount Cemetery.
She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Elvira Jones Horton. She attended the Maury County School System.
Survivors include three sons, Gregory S. Horton Sr. of Memphis, Doris Lee Davis and Michael Gene Davis, both of Nashville; one daughter Sharon Anita Davis of Nashville; one aunt, Bessye J. Love of Columbia; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; several cousins and other relatives and friends.
