Mr. Bobby Gene Thomason

Mr. Bobby Gene Thomason, 65, a resident of South Walnut Street in Mt. Pleasant, died Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at his residence.

Services for Mr. Thomason will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Mike Williams officiating. Entombment will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will visit with friends from 4 - 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the son of the late Charlie M. and Willadean Marshall Thomason and husband of Dorothy Jean Attkisson Thomason. He was a former employee of the Pepsi Bottling Company in Evansville, IN. He served in the US Navy and attended the Nazarene Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Mike McKenzie of  Texas; a step-son, Stanley Rogers of Mt. Pleasant; a step-daughter, Cordelia Harris of Mt. Pleasant; three brothers, Wayne (Marilyn) Thomason and Russell (Patsy) Thomason, both of Mt. Pleasant and Arnold Thomason of Birmingham, Ala.; a sister, Eloise (Larry) Hicks of Atlanta, Ga.; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Burns and a brother, Ray Thomason.

Pallbearers will be Leo Cole, Leo Cole Jr, J.W. Durham, Joe Durham, Larry Hicks, Larry Holden, Ray Wright and Rodney Ballinger.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Mt. Pleasant Power System, Dr. Charles Ball, Dr. John Brown, Dr. John Maloof, the staff of Willowbrook Home Care and Hospice Agency and the nurses of Williamson County Medical Center.

Sherlynn Sparkman Keller

Sherlynn Sparkman "Sherrie" Keller, 54, wife of Wally Keller and a resident of Columbia, died Thursday, August 12, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.

A memorial service for Mrs. Keller will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Presbyterian Church. Williams Funeral Home in Columbia is in charge of the arrangements.

Oscar 'Moose' Gray

Oscar "Moose" Gray, 65 died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at his residence in Hohenwald.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at McDonald Funeral Home with Bobby Grinder officiating. Burial was in Hinestown Cemetery in Summertown.

He was the son of the late James Arthur Gray and Sally Louise Zimmerman Gray. He was retired from the U.S. Army serving as a helicopter maintenance supervisor.

Survivors include his brother, Paul Gray of Ethridge; sisters, Cecle Guthrie of Mt. Pleasant, Jewel Rogers and Hassie Campbell, both of Summertown; and two foster granddaughters.

Nellie Dee Bates

Nellie Dee Bates, 97, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004 at Baptist Hickman Nursing Home in Centerville.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at McDonald Funeral Home with Bob Talbert, Thomas Mayberry and Dan Parker officiating.

Burial will be in the Nickell Cemetery in Centerville.

The family will visit with family and friends from 4-8 p.m. Sunday.

She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church where she served as secretary-treasurer and church clerk. She was preceded in death by her parents, Zacari Bates and Dora Belle Cotham and a brother, Zollie Bates in 1972.

Survivors include a niece, Margie Breece of Centerville and a nephew, James Madison Bates of Brentwood.

Sam Edward Lyles

Sam Edward Lyles, 61, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at New Hope Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Richard Carter officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church. Roundtree, Napier and Ogilvies Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was the son of the late Thomas and Margaret Lyles. He was a 1961 graduate of Clarke High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his stepmother, Vera Lyles of Mt. Pleasant; his son, Vincent Wilson of Madison; two daughters, Pamela Arms of Nashville and Adrian Lyles of Gary, Ind.; a brother, Greg (Debra) Lyles of Murfreesboro; two sisters, Barbara Armstrong and Gloria Lyles, both of Mt. Pleasant; one aunt, Sarah Rogers; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Frances Stewart Monahan

Mrs. Frances Stewart Monahan, 63, resident of Green Hills in Nashville, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Adair officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends after 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com.

The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Doris Stewart and Elvia Mai Cates Stewart. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include seven sisters, Mrs. Idell Dean, Mrs. Mildred Kelley, Mrs. Vernell Kelley, all of Columbia; Mrs. Demoris Palo of Eldora, Iowa; Mrs. Mary Ann Kelley and Mrs. Deloise (Jerry) Love, both of Culleoka; Mrs. Pauline Chadwell of Mt. Pleasant; three brothers, James Edward (Delores) Stewart and Danny (Dorothy) Stewart, both of Nashville; Roger Stewart of Columbia; and special nephew, Wesley Jennette of Indiana.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Kathlene Stewart, and one brother, Randy Lynn Stewart.

Pallbearers will be Harold Kelley, Travis Jennette, Johnny Clark, Joe Kelley, David Martin, Waylon Jennette and Timothy Jennette.

Mrs. Eurella Gilliam

Mrs. Eurella Heathcott Gilliam, 79, retired employee of Dixie Manufacturing and resident of Sowell Mill Pike, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at Columbia Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwain Brown officiating. Burial will be in Rock Springs Cemetery. The family will visit with friends after 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com.

The Weakley County native was the daughter of the late Emerson Etheridge Heathcott and Flora Jane Blankenship Heathcott. She was married to Purzie Huston "P.H." Gilliam who preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 1984. Mrs. Gilliam was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Larry (Sue) Gilliam, Ray (Alissa) Gilliam, and J. W. (Paula) Gilliam, all of Columbia; Jimmy (Diana) Gilliam of Jasper; eight grandchildren, Richie (Allison) Gilliam, Joey (Kristy) Bell, Joy (J.J.) Duarate, Jammy (Dawn) Gilliam, Sammy Ray (Kimberly) Gilliam, P. J. Gilliam, Rachel Gilliam, Jesse Gilliam; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Richie Gilliam, Joey Bell, Sammy Ray Gilliam, Jammy Gilliam, Jesse Gilliam, Ronnie Heathcott, Steve Gilliam.

Ethel Hudgins

Ethel Hudgins, 85, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004 at Perry Community Hospital in Linden.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at McDonald Funeral Home with Joe Bates officiating.

Burial will follow in the Milan Cemetery in Centerville.

She was a cook for Hickman County Schools and a member of Twomey Church of Christ.

Survivors include sons, Larry Henley of Linden and Johnny Henley of Mt. Juliet; daughters, Imogene Frazier of Waynesboro and Tommie Smith of New Johnsonville; sister, Martha Grimes of New Johnsonville; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Joe White

Mr. Joe Robert White, 69, retired Certified Public Account and resident of Lyon Street, died Sunday, August 29, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Smith and the Rev. Jeff Jacob officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends from 4 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with a 7 p.m. Masonic service conducted. They will visit again from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, Al Menah Temple, P.O. Box 78545, Nashville, TN 37207 or First United Methodist Church, 222 West 7th St., Columbia, TN 38401.

The Hardin County native was the son of the late Joe Anderson White and Drucilla Dobbins White. He was a 1952 graduate of Central High School in Savannah and graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He served in the United States Army and was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Mr. White was 2004 Mason of the Year, Past Worshipful Master and Treasurer of Columbia Lodge No. 31 Free and Accepted Masons. He was past High Priest of Lafayette Chapter No. 4 Royal Arch Masons, past Ill., Master of Columbia Council No. 139, past Immit. Commander of Knights Templar Columbia Commandry No. 35, past President and past Secretary Maury County Shrine Club, he was bestowed with Knights of the York Cross of Honor and was a member of Al Menah Temple, Shrine.

He was a former member and past President of Kiwanis Club of Maury County and former member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants. He enjoyed being with family and friends, helping Shriners Children's Hospital and was a University of Tennessee sports fan.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mary Strickland White of Columbia; one son, Michael Joseph White of Murfreesboro; one daughter, Kelly Ann (Stephen) Brown of Franklin; four nephews; and two great-nieces.

Pallbearers will be Joe Foster, Leroy Gibson, Rufus Haygood, Kenneth Eubank, Howard (Buck) Locke, Bob Murray and Charles Luttrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Masons, clients, Joe Max Williams, Charles Crotts, J.B. Shepherd, Jerry Jones, Lynn Jones, Travis Jones, Keith Edlund, Dr. John Alden, Neal Blair, David Biederman, Albert Stone, Larry Hunt and Dr. William Robinson.

Mrs. Joyce Brooking Mashburn

Mrs. Joyce Brooking Mashburn, age 57, died Sunday, August 29, 2004, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Mrs. Mashburn was born in Porterdale Ga. and made her home in Spring Hill. She was a secretary with Equitable Life Insurance Company.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Mashburn of Spring Hill; daughters, Jil Gowens and husband Robert of Lawrenceville, Ga., Mandi Lawson of Monroe., Ga., Terri Biners and husband Doug of Covington, Ga., and Erin Hood and husband Hunter of Spring Hill; son, Dr. Scott. Mashburn and wife Kathi of Athens; parents, James and Kathleen Brooking of Covington, Ga.; sisters, Norma Moody and husband Henry of Newnan, Ga. and Peggy Stallings and husband Eddie of Loganville, Ga.; grandchildren; Tyler and Lacey Gowens, Leeanne, Dalton and Kylie Biggers, Cameron Hood, Kaitlin and Trenton Mashburn;

Services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Caldwell and Cowan Funeral Home with Dan Dixon officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday at Caldwell and Cowan Funeral Rome, 3134 Floyd Street, Covington, Ga.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Spring Hill Memorial Funeral Rome with Mike Dawson officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Tillman Capes, Hunter Hood, Scott Mashburn, Doug Biggers, Rob Gowens and Wade Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Hank Moody, Mike Stallings, Chad Stallings, Wes Burgin, Sam Wiebe, Nursing Staff of Williamson Medical Center and Dr. William Reid. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to service Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Leukemia Society, 446 Metroplex Drive, Suite A-200, Nashville, TN 37211-3139.

Shirley Currier

Shirley Joan Currier, 68, of Pulaski, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at the Maury Regional Hospital.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Carr & Erwin Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Carr & Erwin Funeral Home.

She was the daughter of the late Francis and Kathleen Reamer.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph "Pop" Currier of Pulaski; sons, Bennie and Ernest Pearson, both of Harrison, Mich., John Pearson of Pulaski, Francis Winegarden of Colorado; daughter, Levonna Darnell of Lebanon; step-sons, David and Dale Pearson, both off Harrison, Mich.; step-daughters, Ines Stoleberg of Muskegon, Mich. and Georgia Ann Pearson of Georgia; brothers, Mike Reames of Detroit, Mich., Don and Butch Reames of Wyoming; sisters, Carol Reames of Wyoming and Barbara Tester of Montana; 25 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.

Bobby Peery

Bobby Leroy Peery, 69, of Hohenwald, died Sunday, August 29, 2004, at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home with Chip Hunter officiating. Visitation will be at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Brown Cemetery in Hampshire.

In Lieu of flowers the family request donations to Hospital Hospitality House, 214 Peidhurst Ave. Nashville, TN. 37203.

He was the son of the late Robert E. Peery, Sr. and Anna Peery. He was a retired truck driver for Amerigas Propane. He was a member of the American Legion Post 19, and a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was also preceded in death by a brother, R.E. Peery.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Nell Peery of Hohenwald; son, Marty Peery of Lynnville and Monty Peery of Columbia; a daughter, Bobbie Jones of Greenville, S.C.; sister, Wanda Peery of Ericson, Nev.; and four grandchildren.
