Wallace Gordon Rutledge ,77, of Lawrenceburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at his residence.
Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Neal Funeral Home with Lloyd Schomburg officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lawrence County Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
The retired carpenter was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Korea. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was the son of the late Mary Lou Crumley Rutledge and Harold Rutledge.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Golding Rutledge of Lawrenceburg; daughter, Wanda Lee Rutledge of Hamilton, N.J.; brother, Douglas Rutledge of Huntington, Ind., sister, Francis Dickey of Chattanooga; step-son, Larry Davis of Loretto; step-daughter, Sherry Britton of Lawrenceburg; and three grandchildren.
Mildred Leoma Chears
Mildred Leoma Chears, 83, of Nashville, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, at Bordeaux Long Term Care Center.
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday at New Hope Baptist Church in Nashville with Pastor James C. Turner, Sr. Burial will held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Centerville.
She was a retired social worker. She was the son of the late Lillie Mayberry and Abraham Chears. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lillie Chears, and a brother, Leonard M. Chears. Survivors include her sister, Bertha Dobbins of Centerville.
Mary Bates
Mary Tom Bates, 89, of Centerville, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at McDonald Funeral Home with Thomas Mayberry officiating. Burial will be in the Nickell Cemetery.
She was the daughter of the late Dora Stephens and Will Shepard. She was a homemaker and wife of the late Earl W. Bates. She was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Bates; brothers, Pled and Carnell Shepard; sisters, Bess, Vera and Era Bates.
Survivors include her sons, Jerry Bates of Centerville, Don Bates of Coppertown and Ricky Bates of Nolensville; daughters, Wilma Wade of Mt. Pleasant and Kay Holland of Brentwood; brothers, Charlie Shepard and Joe Shepard, both of Centerville; sister, Frances Chandler of Centerville; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Paul Edwards
Paul Jackson Edwards, 91, of Dickson, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at his residence.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday by graveside at Hilltop Cemetery in Lyles. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. at McDonald Funeral Home.
He was a retired electrician and the son of the late Mary Lou and Jessie Edwards.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Edwards of Deerfield, Beach, Fla.
Bobby M. Bryant
Bobby M. Bryant, 69, of Brookview Place, Danville, Ky., died Monday, August 30, 2004, at his residence.
Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at Stith Funeral Home in Danville, Ky.
The former Columbia resident was the son of the late William Clarence and Marie Arterburn Bryant. He graduated from Tennessee Tech University. He retired from ATR in Danville, Ky., as Manager of Human Resources. He was a member of West End Church of Christ
Survivors include his wife, Shirley F. Bryant of Danville, Ky.; a daughter, Tamra Blackwell of Danville, Ky.; a son, Robert Bryant of Madisonville, Ky.; and six grandchildren.
Mr. Fred M. Swann
Mr. Fred M. Swann, 67, a resident of North James Campbell Blvd in Columbia passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 18,2004, at his residence.
Funeral services for Mr. Swann will be conducted Saturday August 21, 2004 at 3:00 P.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home of Columbia with Reverend J.O. Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Born Cullman County, Ala, he was the son of the late Albert and Georgia Brown Swann and husband of Dorothy Etheridge Swann. He was a retired foreman with the L & N Railroad and of the Baptist faith
In addition to his wife, he -is survived by his children, Dianne (Leroy) Bradford of Columbia, Sandra (Jimmy) Griggs of Columbia, Patricia (Gary) Pulley Pitts of Columbia, Ricky Swann of Alabama, Rhonda (Jay) Brown of Unionville, Donald (Stacy) Morris of Hogansville, Ga, Larry Swann of Alabama, Tammy (Tim) Jenkins of Summertown, Lisa Cashion of Cornersville and Leigh Ann Hinson of Columbia; brother, David Swann of Alabama; two sisters, Maria Fanta and Wilma Swann, both of Alabama; 21 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Swann and a sister, Jeanette Foti.
Pallbearers will be Carey Bradford, Jason Glover, William Brown, Clinton Brown, Charles Morris and Jonathan Morris.
Leonidas Ringenberg
Leonidas Ringenberg, 78, of Rogersville, Ala., died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at the Veterans Hospital in Nashville.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at McDonald Funeral Home with James Bridges officiating. Burial will be in the Lewis County Memorial Gardens in Hohenwald.
The United States Navy Veteran was the husband of Eunice (Pugh) Ringenberg.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a step-son, John Harrison of Killen, Ala. and William H. Harrison of Linden; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ronald Leon Mullins
Mr. Ronald Leon Mullins, age 47, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at his residence in Spring Hill.
Mr. Mullins was born in Chicago, Ill. and was an Op Tech with Saturn in Spring Hill. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lori Mullins and mother Lois Mullins.

Mac Arthur Talley, 52, of Hohenwald, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at his residence.

He was employed in maintenance at Eaton Industries. He was the son of the late Arthur Jones and Mattie Lou Talley.

Mark Travis Hammond
MEMPHIS - Mark Travis Hammond, 35, of Memphis, formerly of Lewisburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at Methodist Hospital in Germantown.
Graveside services and entombment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Sunset Park Cemetery Mausoleum with the Rev. Wayne Morgan officiating. The family will visit with friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Bills McGaugh Funeral Home.
He was employed with GM at Saturn and a native of Van Wert, Ohio. He was a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors include his parents, Gary and Carolyn Hammond of Memphis; son, Stratton Travis Hammond; daughter, Cora Laken Hammond, both of the Wheel Community; and a sister, Mary Katherine Bratton of Columbia.
Raymond E. Hancock
Raymond Eugene Hancock, 54, a resident of Dimple Court in Columbia, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
A memorial service for Mr. Hancock will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the home of his daughter on Dimple Court in Columbia. Williams Funeral Home of Columbia is in charge of the arrangements.
Born in Ocala, Fla., he was the son of Evelyn Hancock of Florida and the late Alfrince (A.J.) Hancock. He was operations manager at Stauffer Chemicals.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by three daughters, Kimberly (Jerry) Coulter of Columbia, Stephanie (Justis) Kivari of Lawrenceburg and Heather (Wayne) Sullivan of Columbia; four granddaughters, Courtney Hancock, Caitlynn Coulter, Brianna Coulter and Elizabeth Coulter, all of Columbia; a grandson, Tyler Locke of Columbia; three brothers, Alfred Hancock, Cecil Hancock and Wesley Hancock, all of Florida and a sister, Thelma Hendershot of Oklahoma.

Sherlynn Sparkman Keller
Sherlynn Sparkman "Sherrie" Keller, 54, formerly of Germantown and a resident of Columbia, died Thursday, August 12, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
A memorial service for Mrs. Keller will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2004, at Zion Presbyterian Church with the Rev. J. Arch Warren officiating. Williams Funeral Home in Columbia is in charge of the arrangements.
The Poplar Bluff, Mo. native was the daughter of William and Neva Sparkman of Poplar Bluff and wife of Wally Keller of Columbia. She attended Union University in Jackson where she was a member of Chi Omega. She was a homemaker and formerly an administrative assistant, most recently for FedEx in Memphis. She attended Zion Presbyterian Church and was previously a member of St. George's Episcopal Church in Germantown, where she sang in the choir.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by two daughters, Amanda Keller Williams and husband Chas of Memphis and Sarah Keller of Columbia; a son, Hank Keller of Memphis; a grandson, Charlie Williams of Memphis; sister-in-law and husband, Dr. and Mrs. Robert Bain of Mt. Pleasant; mother-in-law, Merle Keller of Columbia.

Mrs. Vivian Tomlin
Mrs. Mary Vivian Murrell Tomlin, former co-owner of Bicycle Joe's and a resident of Sowell Mill Pike of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.
Services for Mrs. Tomlin will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Williams Funeral Home of Columbia with the Rev. Earl Davis and the Rev. Murray Thomas Culberson officiating. Burial will be in the Arlington Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The Hickman County native was the daughter of the late Vivian C. and Pearl Crews Murrell. She was the wife of Joe E. "Bicycle Joe" Tomlin. She attended Hay Long High School and graduated Columbia Central High School. Mrs. Tomlin had a teaching certificate at MTSU and a Ph.D. in Education from Peabody College.
She was former Special Ed teacher at Whitthorne, CMA and King's Daughters schools. After retirement, she tutored many young and older students. She was also a Real Estate Agent with Seabrook's Association out of Jackson.
Mrs. Tomlin was a member of the Godwin Chappell United Methodist Church and was a ordained Methodist Lay Speaker. She sang with the Sonshiners Gospel Group with husband, Joe and dear friend, Murray Thomas Culberson and taught Bible School on Wednesday nights.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Jessie Mullins of Atlanta, Ga., and Jill Andrews of Columbia; a granddaughter, Shannon Andrews of Columbia; a stepdaughter, Jolene (Tony) Hobbs of Chattanooga; three step-grandchildren, Alicia Hobbs, Amber Hobbs and Chad Hobbs, all of Chattanooga; a niece, Connie (John) Greenfield of Pulaski; five nephews, Vernon Murrell, Jesse Murrell, Charles Murrell, Mike Murrell and Paul Varner; and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon Murrell of Hendersonville and James Murrell of Columbia; and a sister, Dorothy Varner of Columbia.
Pallbearers will be David Hill, Scott Hill, Matthew Hill, Wesley Derryberry, Jim Bartley, Andy Jenkis, Ryan Jenkis, Calvin Jenkis, Chad Hobbs and Chris Graham.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Godwin Chappell United Methodist Church.
