Miss Jane Pickard

NASHVILLE - Miss Sara Jane Pickard, 73, retired employee of Tennessee Department of Revenue and resident of Edwin Warner Drive in Nashville, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at St. Thomas Hospital.

Services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brother Winston Fish officiating. Burial will be in Kittrell Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Highland Church of Christ Building Fund, 407 East James Campbell Blvd., Columbia, TN 38401.

The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Luther Thomas Pickard and Floy Whiteside Pickard.

The 1948 graduate of Columbia Central High School was the first female to be appointed Director of Inheritance, Income & Gift Tax for the State of Tennessee.

She was a member of West End Church of Christ in Nashville and the National Women's Bowling Association.

Survivors include one brother, Fred (Kathy) Pickard of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; one aunt, Lura Whiteside Pogue of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ann Moss and Rachel Virginia Pickard; and three brothers, Thomas Pickard, Joe Pickard and Dan Pickard.

Pallbearers will be Fred Pickard, Clay Pickard, Jake Carter, David Carter, Les Wisher and Kevin Pickard.

Honorary pallbearers will be the 100 Plus Class of West End Church of Christ, Bill Brown and Dr. Steven Eskind.

Mr. Wesley Minert Williams

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - Mr. Wesley Minert Williams, 88, of Ormond Beach, Fla., died March 21, 2004.

He was a retired mechanic with Railway Express. He loved fishing, tinkering with engines and caring for his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Derryberry Williams, who passed away Nov. 15, 2003, and parents, William Holt and Ruby Harris Turrentine Williams.

Survivors include his sons, Michael M. Williams and wife Nancy of Ormond Beach, Fla., W. Marc Williams and wife, Mary of British Columbia, Canada; brothers, Harris Williams of Brentwood, Charlie Williams of Monteagle and Talton Williams of Brentwood; a sister, Edith Prescott of Naples, Fla.; grandchildren, Heather Huguenor and Jennifer Williams; and great-grandchildren, Ricky Avery and Wyatt Huguenor.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday for Mr. and Mrs. Williams at Derryberry Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Brown officiating.

Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, 3009 Columbia Ave., Franklin, TN, is in charge of arrangements.

Annie Jane Walker

CANEY SPRING - Annie Jane Walker, 93, of the Caney Spring Community of Marshall County, died Friday, July 30, 2004, in Lewisburg.

Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Lawrence Funeral Home with Mike Whitehead officiating. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Berea Cemetery in Marshall County.

The Marshall County native was the daughter of the late Joe Frank and Betty Smithson Walker. She was a licensed practical nurse having retired after 20 years of nursing at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. She was a native of Westview Church of Christ in Lewisburg.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Thomas Lee

HOHENWALD - Thomas Haggard Lee, 70, of Hohenwald, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Services were conducted Saturday at McDonald Funeral Home with Paul Inman officiating. Burial was in the Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg.

He was son of the late Perry Haggard Lee and Flora Eula (McAdams) Lee. He was the husband of Betty (Reed) Lee.

Survivors in addition to his wife include sons, Larry Lee of Portland, Ore., Ricky Lee of Mesquite,  Texas, Terry Lee of Wylie,  Texas, and Jesse Lee of Hughes Springs,  Texas; a daughter, Pagejan Samples of Hughes Springs,  Texas; a stepson, Sam Hensley of Hohenwald; a stepdaughter, Kim Ray of McMinnville; brothers, Jimmy Lee of Roy City,  Texas, Bobby Lee of Montabra,  Texas, and Edward Lee of Mesquite,  Texas; sisters, Dalphine Patterson and Marcie Lee, both of Lawrenceburg, Eyvonne Maness of Selmer, Annette Bayless of Millington, Shirley Cook of Yantis,  Texas, and Jennifer Hatfield of Memphis; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by brothers, Carmel Lee and Reed Lee; and sisters, Peggy Peden and Dottie Lee.

Mr. Billy Edward Redman

SPRING HILL - Mr. Billy Edward Redman, 52, of Spring Hill, formerly of Jonesboro, Ill., passed away Thursday, July 29, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born on Feb. 29, 1952, the son of Paul and Rose (Holden) Reynolds. He married Patricia Foltz on July 6, 1994, in Spring Hill. He worked at the Saturn Auto Plant in Spring Hill.

Survivors include his wife, Patty of Spring Hill; mother and father, Rose and Paul Reynolds of Jonesboro, Ill.; two daughters, Sarah Redman of Jonesboro, Ill., and Jessica Lovell of Hooksett, N.H.; three brothers, Kevin and wife, Janet Reynolds, James and wife, Ursula Reynolds, Jeff and wife, Kathy Reynolds, all of Jonesboro, Ill.; a sister, Karen and husband, Roy Burmeister of White Lake, Mich.; two grandchildren, Ethan Edward Redman and Molly Anne Redman; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Hileman Funeral Home with the Rev. Bon Reynolds officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Hileman Funeral Home. Internment will be at Jonesboro Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ill. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Hileman Funeral Home, 800 Public Square, Jonesboro, IL 62952 is in charge of arrangements.

Spring Hill Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 5239 Main St., Spring Hill, is in charge of local arrangements.

Mrs. Margorie Derryberry Williams

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - Mrs. Margorie Derryberry Williams, 83, of Ormond Beach, Fla., died Nov. 15, 2003.

She was active in her church, loved arts and crafts, cooking and caring for her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Elizabeth Moore Derryberry. Her husband, Wesley Minert Williams, passed away March 21, 2004.

Survivors include her sons, Michael M. Williams and wife Nancy of Ormond Beach, Fla., W. Marc Williams and wife, Mary of British Columbia, Canada; grandchildren, Heather Huguenor and Jennifer Williams; and great-grandchildren, Ricky Avery and Wyatt Huguenor.

Mrs. Mayon Pfieffer Foster

Mrs. Mayon Derryberry Pfieffer Foster, 80, retired store manager for Sterchi Furniture Company and resident of Manor Road, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Thomas Vann Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Morton Cemetery.

The family will visit with friends after 4 p.m. Sunday and after noon Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the 40-8/LaFemme Nurses Training Scholarship.

A lifetime resident of Maury County, she was the daughter of the late O. B. Derryberry and Maysel Hardison Derryberry. She was first married to Joseph John Pfieffer who preceded her in death on March 13, 1985, and later married Joe Foster who lives in Columbia.

Mrs. Foster was a 1941 graduate of Columbia Central High School. She had attended New Life Christian Church and was a member of Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, La Femme and Daughters of the Confederacy.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Teresa Pfieffer McClure of Columbia; four sons, Jimmy (Carrie) Pfieffer of Mystic, Conn., Bobby Pfieffer of Antioch, Joseph Pfieffer II of Columbia and Michael (Sisse) Pfieffer of Franklin; two stepdaughters, Anita Jo Foster of Columbia and Pamela (Roger) Brown of Nashville; close family friend, Dorothy Mosley of Columbia; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Carlton Derryberry and James Derryberry.

Pallbearers will be Brian McClure, Michael McClure, Scott Pfieffer, Roger Brown, Shae Pfieffer and Scott Nichols.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ladies American Legion Auxiliary, 40-8/LaFemme and Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary.

George Ballard

LAWRENCEBURG - George Ferris Ballard, 65, of Lawrenceburg, died Friday, July 23, 2004, at his residence.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday by graveside at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens with Tony Gordy officiating. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at Neal Funeral Home.

He was the son of the late Mary Pearl and Herman Brown Ballard. He was a self-employed contractor. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Pitts Ballard of Lawrenceburg; son, Jimmy Ballard of Leoma; daughter, Marcella Staggs of Lawrenceburg; brother, Jimmy Ballard of Lakeland, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

Helen Crigger

LEWISBURG - Helen Crigger, 66, of Lewisburg, died Friday, July 23, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Bills McGaugh Funeral Home with Jason Hart officiating. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lone Oak Cemetery.

The Marshall County native was the daughter of the late Lyndal and Maggie Lou Tate Massey. She was retired from Cosmolab and a member of the Westvue Church of Christ. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Charles A. Burns; and sisters, Betty Savage and Dot Wilson.

Survivors include her husband, James Larry Crigger; and a son, Tommy Burns, both of Lewisburg.

William Bailey

LEOMA - William Claud Bailey, 74, of Leoma, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at NHC of Lawrenceburg.

Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home with Bobby Belew officiating. Internment will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery. The American Legion Post 146 VFW Post 1618 will performed Honor Guard Rights.

The Lawrence County native was the son of the late Jack and Minnie Lumpkins. He was a farmer and carpenter and a member of the Church of Christ. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Marietta "Mary" Swartz Bailey of Leoma; son, Richard Bailey of Lawrenceburg; brother, Horace Bailey of Leoma; sisters, Mildred Belew and Polly Bass, both of Lawrenceburg, Mary Fetzer of Ethridge and Joan Bailey of Franklin.

Velma Seymore

LAWRENCEBURG - Velma Louise Adams Seymore, 85, of Lawrenceburg, died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at her residence.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday by graveside at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens with Hobert Seymore officiating. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Sunday at Neal Funeral Home.

She was the daughter of the late Myrtle Goats and Sie Adams. She was the wife of the late Huel "Bud" Seymore. She was retired from Salant & Salant and Seymore Maytag Store. She was a member of Center Point Baptist Church.

Survivors include his sons, Jacky Seymore of Lawrenceburg and Buddy Seymore of Leoma; a sister, Myrtle Mattox of Leoma; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
