Mrs. William D. Wall

Mrs. Helen Gertrude Patten Wall, 97, widow of William D. Wall and a resident of Haylong Avenue in Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, July 24, 2004 at NHC Hillview.

A prayer service will be conducted Monday at 6 p.m. at Oakes and Nichols with Rev. Bob Vassar officiating. Friends will visit Monday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be in the Riverside Mausoleum in Norristown, Pa. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com.

A native of Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. Patten and Gertrude Law Patten. She was a retired employee of the Federal Government and was a member of the National Association of Federal Retired Employees.

She was a member of the Pleasant Heights Baptist Church and active in the Christian Women's Club.

Survivors include two step-sons, Richard H. "Dick" Wall of Sevierville, Tennessee and Robert "Bob" Wall of Havertown, Pa.; a niece, Barbara H. Thompson McGee of Wildwood, N.J.; four step-grandchildren; special friends, Everlene and Max Stephenson of Mt. Pleasant and Carolyn Looper of Columbia.

Paul A. Meservy

Mr. Paul A. Meservy, 73, retired Chief Master Sergeant, U. S. Air Force, and resident of the Mooresville Pike, died Thursday, July 15, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.

Evelyn Hastings

LEWISBURG - Evelyn Isley Hastings, 77, of Lewisburg, died Friday, June 18, 2004, in NHC-Hillview in Columbia.

Services were conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday at Bills McGaugh Funeral Home. Burial was in Sunset Park Cemetery, Garden of Faith.

She was the daughter of the late Jeff and Carrie Haskins Isley. She worked as an accountant and was a member of the Church Street Church of Christ. She was the wife of the late Gene Hastings.

Survivors include five sisters, Margaret Isley Neill, Carolyn Isley Winsett, Shirley Isley Hunter, and Helen Isley Sanders, all of Lewisburg and Gayle Isley Crick White of Columbia.

Eriez Jones

LAWRENCEBURG - Eriez Jones, 67, of Lawrenceburg, died Friday, June 18, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Deerfield Cemetery in Lawrenceburg.

A native of Serepity, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Clements and Vera Flanigan Frizzel. She was the wife of the late Dorsey Jones. She was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Bobby Jones of Lawrenceburg, Dorsey Jones of Hernando, Miss., and Jimmy Jones of Olive Branch, Miss., daughters, Robbie Herrington of Pulaski and Frances Oxley of Hernando, Miss.; sister Melba Jean Odor of Memphis; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Howard Lovell

ETHRIDGE - Howard William Lovell, 63, of Ethridge, died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Crockett Hospital.

Services for Mr. Howard William Lovell will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home with Leslie Shadrick officiating. Interment icon will be in Lawrence County Memorial Gardens.

The Alabama native was the son of the late Jim and Ruth McBride Lovell. He was a brick mason and a member of Grace Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Lovell.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Lovell of Ethridge; sons, Harold "Huey" Lovell of Mt. Pleasant, Eugene Lovell and William Lovell, both of Lawrenceburg; step-sons, Glen Marston of Summertown and Dale Marston of Lawrenceburg; daughters, Cathy Staggs of Williamsburg, Ky. and Debra Harwell of Loretto; step-daughter, Joanna DeWitt of Lawrenceburg; brothers, J.D. Lovell, St. Joseph and James Franklin Lovell, all of Lawrenceburg; half-brother, Jimmy Dean Lovell of Lawrenceburg; sisters, Carolyn Forsythe and Linda Joyce Bivens, both of Lawrenceburg; step-brothers, Roy Stover and Wesley Stover, both of Lawrenceburg and Curtis Stover of Illinois; step-sister, Imogene Long of Lawrenceburg; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and 20 step-grandchildren.

Julia Belle Cooper

LEWISBURG - Julia Belle Cooper, 81, of Lewisburg, died Thursday, June 17, 2004, in NHC Healthcare.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at London Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday and until the funeral hour. Burial will be in Lone Oak Cemetery.

The Hillsboro, Ala. native was the daughter of the late James and Belle Miller Brewer. She was a homemaker and the wife of the late James Andrew Cooper. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Braden of Cornersville and Sandy Tate of Lewisburg; sons, Jimmy Cooper of Memphis and Ross Cooper of Shelbyville; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Willie Mai 'Billie' Walker

COTTAGEVILLE, S.C. - Willie Mai "Billie" Walker, 78, of Cottageville, S.C., died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at Colleton Medical Center.

Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Brice W. Herndon Funeral Home in Walterboro, S.C.

The Spring Hill native was the daughter of the late John M. Rush and Ailene Dooley Rush. She was the widow of James Carl Walker who died from Lou Gehrig's Disease. She attended school at Neapolis and Spring Hill.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Charles P. Rush and Bobby Woodard Rush; sisters, Marjorie Rush Robertson, Jennie Lee Rush Bone and Gladys Rush Smotherman.

Survivors include her daughters, Theresa Long and Cecelia Guy; sisters, Lena Bone of Nashville and Dot Burks of Murfreesboro; a brother, J.W. "Shorty" Rush of Columbia; and three grandchildren.

Johnnie O. Flowers

Mr. Johnnie Ostien Flowers, 67, former resident of Maury County, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at his residence in Davenport, Fla.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Oak Ridge Funeral Home in Haines City, Fla. with Chaplain John Scott officiating. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Adair officiating.

The family will visit with friends after 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Cedar Hills Cemetery Fund, c/o Doug Garner, 3524 Hampshire Pike, Mt. He was the son of the late Herbert E. Flowers and Francis Flowers and a member of the Church of Christ. He was a graduate of Hampshire High School, Columbia State Community College and Middle Tennessee State University.

In 1998, he moved to Florida at his retirement from the State of Tennessee with 25 years service. He served as Director of Tennessee Business Enterprises, a division of Services for the Blind.

Survivors include his wife, Vada Fairbanks Flowers of Davenport, Fla.; a daughter, Pam (David) Perdue of Columbia; a son, Tim (Debbie) Flowers of Hampshire; a step-daughter, Crystal L. Hill of Kaiserslautern, Germany; mother and father-in-law, Stanley and Bea Fairbanks of Davenport, Fla.; a granddaughter, Mary Katherine "Katie" Flowers; step-grandchildren, Taber Hill, Brennan Hill, Kaylan Hill, Scott Rummage; nieces, Carla (Jared) Blaiser and Laura (Donnie) Henegar.

Timothy Petty

Timothy Leon Petty, 49, resident of North Laurel Circle, died Friday, June 18, 2004, at Columbia Care & Rehabilitation.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Nebo Cemetery with the Rev. Ray Newell officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 392, Columbia, TN 38402. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com.

The Maury County native was the son of Helen Kilgo Petty of Columbia and the late Hurshel Leon Petty. He was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Nanette (Dan) Ford of Franklin; Alisa (Carl) Parrish of Huntsville, Ala.; one brother, Shane (Jill) Petty of Chapel Hill; five nieces; one great niece; one great nephew; and several aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Petty.

Pallbearers will be Tennessee State Park Rangers. Honorary pallbearers will be staff at Columbia Care & Rehabilitation, Maggie English, and Betty Whitaker.

Karen Sue Harris

Mrs. Karen Sue Alexander Harris, 62, resident of Greens Mill Road, died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City, Okla. The family will visit with friends from 12 noon-9 p.m. Sunday at Sunny Lane Funeral Home. Oakes & Nichols in charge of local arrangements. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com.

The  Oklahoma native was the daughter of the late Leo L. Alexander and Nadine Hames Alexander.

Survivors include two daughters, Debbie (Douglas) Hise of Spring Hill; Shannon (Sam) Watson of Austin,  Texas; one brother, Edward Perry (Kristi) Harris of Blanchard, Okla.; and seven grandchildren, Dustin Hise, Drew Hise, DeLane Hise, Maykala Harris, Madison Harris, Kaylea Watson, and Jami Watson.

Karen Ogg

HOHENWALD - Karen Diane Ogg, 44, of Hohenwald, died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at her residence.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Blondy Church of God with Bill Webb officiating.

The Hohenwald native was the daughter of Melba Ogg and the late Buford H. Ogg. She was employed with CNA. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Ogg.

Survivors in addition to her mother include brothers, Jerry Ogg of Columbia and Danny Ogg of Hohenwald; sisters, Peggy Pogue and Donetta Carroll, both of Hohenwald, Monette King of Hampshire, and Brenda Simmons Fowler of Mt. Pleasant.

McDonald Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. William "Thomas" Hill

Mr. William "Thomas" Hill, 69, a resident of Santa Fe Pike in Columbia, died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at his home.

Services for Mr. Hill will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with the Rev. Mike Roberts officiating. Burial will be in the Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-9 p.m. Saturday and from 4-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the son of Pauline Shouse Hill Andrews and the late Luther Hill and a step-Mother, Thelma Hill of Santa Fe. He was the owner and operator of Thomas Hill Trucking. He served in the United States Army.

He is survived by two sons, Steve Hill of Robinson, Ill. and Thomas Hill, Jr. of Santa Fe; three sisters, Barbara Kilgore, Nancy (Steve) Kennedy, and Susan (Teddy) Reese, all of Columbia; three brothers, Dwain (Dot) Andrews, Mayron Hill, both of Columbia, and Phillip (Julie) Hill of Santa Fe.

He was preceded in death by a special father, Douglas Andrews; a brother, Norris Andrews.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Fitzgerald, Jeremy Hedrick, Jason Baker, Jamie Kennedy, Jason Kennedy, Preston Andrews, Reggie Andrews, Guy Potts, Dwight Maxwell and Steve Kennedy.
