Luther Hinson

HOHENWALD - Luther Hinson, 86, of Hohenwald, died Monday, June 7, 2004, at Life Care Center of Columbia.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday by graveside in the Springer Cemetery with Artie Collins officiating.

The Hohenwald native was the son of the late Annie Bell Hinson and Harrison Allen Hinson. He was the husband of Mary Lee Landers Hinson.

Survivors in addition to his wife, include a son, James Hinson of Hohenwald; daughters, Marsha Essary of Crown Point, Ind., Fay Roop of North Jackson, Ind. and Sue Kilpatrick of Mississippi; sisters, Juanita Jones and Charlene Carroll, both of Hohenwald; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

McDonald Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Clarence Sharp

LEWISBURG - Clarence Leon Sharp, 78, of Lewisburg, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at his residence.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at London Funeral Home. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday until the funeral hour. Burial will be in Lone Oak Cemetery.

The Naticoke, Penn. native was the son of the late Michael and Tillie Sharp. He was retired as a biomedical engineer with the National Institute of Health. He was a World War II and Korean War Veteran in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his daughter, Frances Burk of Lewisburg; and two grandsons.

Kevin D. Wilson

Kevin D. Wilson, 31, died Monday, June 7, 2004, in Williamson Co.

Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. at Baxter Brothers Funeral Home with burial at 11 a.m. Saturday in Pinecrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

He was the son of Leo Buchanan and Paul Vestal. He was an employee of Seelbach Co.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Euvonaka Wilson of Columbia; sons, Timothy Wilson and Kevin Wilson Jr. of Columbia; daughters, Markeshia Frierson, Kevani and Brittney Wilson, all of Columbia; brothers, Tyrone Buchanan, Derrick and Charlie Buchanan; sisters, Carolyn Buchanan, Marilyn Buchanan, Lisa Rucker and Sandra Buchanan.

Carl Edward Kerr

LAWRENCEBURG - Carl Edward Kerr, 62, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at Crockett Hospital.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Neal Funeral Home with Sonny Mills officiating. Burial will be in Henryville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

He was the son of the late Otey Harris Kerr and Mary Frances Blue Kerr. He was retired from Graphic Packaging. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Delaware Masonic Lodge F & AM # 46, Muncie Indiana.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Elaine Kerr of Ethridge; daughters, Stacey Burrow of Pulaski and Gina McAdoo of Smyrna; brothers, David Kerr, Darrell Kerr and Kevin Kerr, all of Lawrenceburg; and three grandchildren.

Charles Wesley Long

PULASKI - Charles Wesley Long, 81, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at Hartselle Medical Center.

Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bennett-May Funeral Home with Jamie Ray Hooper officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

He was the son of the late John Wesley and Florence Rose Long. He was a farmer and construction worker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Long.

Survivors include a son, Chuck Long; a sister, Dorothy Whitlock; and five grandchildren.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association.

M.C. McAdams

Mr. M.C. McAdams, 96, died Tuesday afternoon in the Woodbury Nursing Center in Woodbury.

Services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday at Bills McGaugh Funeral Home with Delton Porter and Joe Corley officiating.Burial will follow in Beechwood Cemetery in Cornersville. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour Thursday at Bills McGaugh Funeral Home.

He was the son of the late Joseph Emmett and Mary Emma West McAdams and a member of the Hickory Height Church of Christ. He was a cabinet maker and carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Dean McAdams; a son, E.C. McAdams of Murfreesboro; a daughter, Polly Richardson of Newburn, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Debra Pace Meyer of Newburn, N.C., Mark McAdams of Birmingham, Ala., and Michael McAdams of Murfreesboro.

Bills McGaugh Funeral Home and the United States Forest Service have provided for the planting of a tree in memory of Mr. McAdams. Condolences to www.BillsMcGaugh.com.

Kenneth 'Kenny' Kanyak

Mr. Kenneth "Kenny" Kanyak, 45, a resident of Byrd Rd. in Lawrenceburg, died Monday, June 7, 2004, at home.

A memorial service for Mr. Kanyak will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Calvary Baptist Church in Caseville, Mich. Private burial will be at the Kanyak Farms in Caseville, Mich. Williams Funeral Home of Columbia is in charge of local arrangements.

Born in Caseville, Mich., he was the son of Donald and Sylvia Cilc Kanyak and husband of Jo Varga Kanyak. He was the owner and operator of Kanyak Paint and Body Shop in Caseville. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Caseville.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by three brothers, Donnie Kanyak, Tony Kanyak and Stevie Kanyak, all of Caseville, Mich.; four sisters, Cindy Kanyak and Bebo Kanyak, both of Caseville, Mich., Judy Kanyak of Hiawasse and Marie Kanyak of Iosco, Mich.; step-daughter, Rachel Head of Brooklet, Ga.; three step-grandchildren, Justin, Jacob and Joshua Head, all of Brooklet, Ga.; three nephews, Shawn Kanyak of Elkton, Mich., Darien Kanyak of Caseville, Mich., and Eric Kanyak of Cass City, Mich.; a niece, Laci Bills of Caseville, Mich.; a great nephew, Zane Kanyak of Elton, Mich.

Mary Elizabeth Corbin

LEWISBURG - Mary Elizabeth Corbin, 81, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at her home in Lewisburg.

Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at London Funeral Home with burial in Cochran Cemetery. Visitation will be until the funeral hour Thursday.

She was the daughter of the late Willie Cleveland and Minnie Lee Taylor Perryman. She was a homemaker and member of the Parkview Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Clayton Corbin; and three brothers, Thomas Perryman, Billy Perryman and Earl Perryman.

Survivors include two sons, James Corbin of Halls and Jerry Corbin of Lewisburg; three daughters, Judy Lewter of Pulaski and Jan Roberts and Earleine Corbin, both of Lewisburg.

Luther Edward Smith

LAWRENCEBURG - Luther Edward "Edd" Smith, 80, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at Crockett Hospital.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Neal Funeral Home with Ray Luffman officiating. Burial will be in Leoma Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

He was the son of the late Dan Smith and Ida Brown Smith Littrell. He was a retired contractor and member of the Baptist church.

Survivors include his wife, Arone Lillie Hood Smith of Leoma; daughter, Dorothy Faye Smith of Leoma; sisters, Alberta Smith Wilson of Ohio, Willodean Taylor of Leoma, Catherine Sudduth of Florida, Evelyn Hughes of Revilo Community and Adar Fowler of Loretto; brothers, Paul Littrell and Jessie Littrell, both of Revilo Community and Carol Littrell and Pee Wee Littrell, both of Waynesboro; four grandchildren; and eight grandchildren.

Joseph A. Weiss

LAWRENCEBURG - Joseph A. Weiss, 89, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at Scott Health Care Center.

Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Richard Buchignani officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Neal Funeral Home with Rosary at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was the son of the late Joseph Weiss and Antonia Reif Weiss. He was a retired supervisor with Murray, Inc., member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Franke Weiss of Lawrenceburg; daughter, Kim Martin of Leoma; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mildred F. Cocke Morgan

MT. PLEASANT - Mrs. Mildred F. Cocke Morgan, 85, widow of William Russell Morgan, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at her residence on North Elm Street in Mt. Pleasant.

Graveside services for Mrs. Morgan will be conducted Friday, June 11, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the Arlington Cemetery with Rick Points officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the cemetery. Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant is in charge of the arrangements.

The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Jessie Pate Dame Cocke. She was a homemaker and member of the New Song Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant.

She is survived by eight nieces, Evelyn Patterson and Dorothy Luckett both of Mt. Pleasant, Carlene Brown and Lura Fitzgerald both of Columbia, Ann Brown of Lewisburg, Helen Cocke and Barbara Carpenter, both of Franklin and Linda Creech of Missouri; a nephew, Bill Cocke of Mt. Pleasant. She was preceded in death by several nieces and nephews.

Theodore Martin "Ted" Haugen

Theodore Martin "Ted" Haugen, 49, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at his residence in Nashville.

A private family graveside service was conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday at Polk Memorial Gardens with Doug Murphy officiating. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

The Shelby County native was the son of James A. Haugen and Mary Hill McKay Haugen of Columbia. He was a 1973 graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Memphis State University. He was active in Boy Scouts of America, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Anne Haugen (Dan) Batey of Williamsport; aunt, Mrs. Peggy (Doug) Murphy of Florence, Ala.; uncle, Robert M. McKay Jr. of Columbia; niece, Laura Hill Batey of Williamsport; nephew, William Ridings Batey of Williamsport; several other aunts, uncles, and cousins; and special friend, Sharon Tibbits of Nashville.

William Hubert Blade Jr.

William Hubert Blade Jr., 42, employee of First Response in Nashville and resident of Pulaski Pike, died Thursday, June 10, 2004, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.

Chyanna Jonay Alexander

FRANKLIN - Little Miss Chyanna Jonay Alexander, 7, passed away on June 6, 2004, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Saturday at the First Missionary Baptist Church, 113 Natches Street, with Pastor R.L. Denson officiating. Interment icon will be in Williamson Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Roundtree, Napier and Ogilvie's Franklin Funeral Home, 101 Confederate Drive, and from 11 a.m. until noon Saturday at the church.

Survivors include her mother, Che'kanda Alexandra; grandmother, Rosa Murriel; grandfathers, Gawen Murriel and James Gentry; four aunts, Shujuana Alexander, Ayanna Murriel, Adama Murriel and Jada Murriel; one uncle, Marcellus Alexander; two cousins, Ellant'e and Deuyn Williams; godmothers, Francine Robinson and Yvette Bonds; five great aunts, Annie Alexander, Doris Alexander, Shirley Alexander, Willa Alexander, Emma Alexander and Charlotte Gentry; two great uncles, Marshall Alexander Jr. (Theresa) and George Alexander (Annie Jean); and many other loving family members.
