Marion C. Carroll, 88, of Trimble, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at Dyersburg Manor Nursing Home. He taught and coached at Rope High School in Jackson, was principal and coach for Newbern School, principal at Richwood School and served as principal and school superintendent in Trimble for 27 years, a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Trimble Methodist Church, Dyer County Retired Teachers Association, American Legion, VFW, and Trimble Lion's Club. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Presson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery in Newbern. The family will receive visitors at 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lucille Simpson
Lucille Simpson, 87, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at Dyersburg Manor Nursing Home. She was a homemaker, a member of First United Pentecostal Church, Newbern Quilting Group and RSVP Senior Citizen Group. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael McClenney officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery. The family will receive visitors at 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ernest Clay Walker
Ernest Clay Walker, 84, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was rental and building property owner and a retired farmer. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of J.W. Curry & Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery in Dyersburg. The family will receive visitors at 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Rhonda LeAnne Whitehead
Rhonda LeAnne Whitehead, 35, of Hornbeak, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City. She was a nurse's assistant and a member of Samburg Assembly of God. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Samburg Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in New Haven cemetery in Ridgely.

Dr. James Elgin 'Jimmy' Bradley
Dr. James Elgin "Jimmy" Bradley, 82, of Clinton, Ky., died Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at Parkway Regional Hospital.
He was a farmer and began his chiropractic practice of 42 years in Dyersburg, attended the National School of Chiropractic in Chicago, Ill., was a U.S. Marines veteran of World War II and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bradley cemetery in Pryorsburg, Ky. Brown Funeral Home in Clinton, Ky. is in charge of arrangements.

Samuel Brown
Samuel Brown, 68, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at Wesley Nursing Home. He was a farmer.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at McDaniel Funeral Services in Kennett, Mo. with the Rev. Mac Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Liberty cemetery of Caruth, Mo.
The family will receive visitors at 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Ray Edward Horner (05/01/03)
Ray Edward Horner, 56, of Jackson, formerly of Dyersburg, died Monday, April 28, 2003 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He was owner/operator of H&M Properties, a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Dyersburg and a U.S. Army veteran. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in the chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home in Jackson with Dr. Philip Jett officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery in Dyersburg.

Virginia Lorick (05/02/03)
Virginia Lorick, 76, of Alamo, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at her residence. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by H.H. Hudson Funeral Home.

Robert Warner (05/02/03)
Robert Warner, 44, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis. He was a car salesman and a member of Cottonwood Baptist Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of J.W. Curry & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Wade Cox and the Rev. Jonathan Lail officiating. Burial will be in New Haven cemetery in Ridgely.

Mac H. Alphin (05/02/03)
Mac H. Alphin, 84, of Kenton, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at his residence. He was a farmer, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Cool Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with Doctor Howard Hensley officiating. Burial will be in Cool Springs cemetery.

Mary Sue Bowen Hill (05/05/03)
Mary Sue Bowen Hill, 90, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, May 3, 2003 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. She was a retired employee of Dyersburg Fabrics. Services were at 10 a.m. today in the chapel of J.W. Curry & Son Funeral Home with Brother Joe Walker Jr. officiating. Burial was in Fairview cemetery in Dyersburg.

James E. Stevens (05/05/03)
James E. Stevens, 72, of the Millsfield Community died Friday, May 2, 2003, at his residence. A retired electrical engineer, he was for 50 years a member of the IBEW. Visitation will take place between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. today at the Curry Funeral Home in Dyersburg. Services will be held at a later date at Cedar Park Funeral Home in Calumet City, Ill., followed by burial at the Cedar Park cemetery in Calumet City.

King Phebus (05/05/03)
King Phebus, 75, of Dyersburg died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at his residence. A farmer, he was involved with pecan sales for over 40 years. He was an avid boat-racing sportsman and the president and CEO of Kentucky Nut Corporation. Graveside services took place Saturday at Fairview cemetery in Newbern. J.W. Curry and Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Rev. Raymond Boston officiated.

Born in Crockett County, she was the former manager of Payless Shoes and also worked as a seamstress for G and G Manufacturing. She was a Baptist. Services were held Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial was in Elbridge cemetery in Obion. Bro. Calvin Smith officiated.

Myrtle Geneva Sorrell, 90, of Friendship died Friday, May 2, 2003, at the West Tennessee Skilled Nursing Center in Jackson. She was a homemaker and a member of Parrish Chapel Baptist Church. Services will take place today at 3 p.m. at the Friendship Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Friendship cemetery. Dr. Billy Murphy will officiate.

William 'Bill' Wayne DeSpain (05/05/03)
William "Bill" Wayne DeSpain, 76, of Newbern died Friday, May 2, 2003, at his residence. A retired brick mason, he was a member of the Church of Christ. He was the son of the late Anna Bell (Honeycutt) DeSpain and the late William Edward DeSpain. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairview cemetery in Newbern. Rev. Dan Clevenger will officiate.

Leslie Gwen Williams Jr., of Caruthersville, Mo., died Saturday, April 26, 2003 at his residence. He was owner/operator of Metal Fabrication Factory and former CEO of Colson Corporation in Caruthersville. Services were at 10 a.m. April 30 at Bob Hunt Funeral Home in Cave City, Ky. Burial was in Cave City cemetery. H.S. Smith Funeral Home in Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.

He was a graduate of Branham and Hughes military Academy and the University of Tennessee of Knoxville, where he was a member of ATO. He was a 1936 graduate of the University of Tennessee Medical School and did his residency in Jersey City, N.J. .

She was a member of Suburban Garden Club, Memphis Cotton Wives, Saint Georges Episcopal Church and the Lydia Guild. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Georges Episocpal Church in Germantown. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery in Dyersburg. The family will receive visitors at 6-8 p.m. today at the church.

Louise Moton, 89, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. Services are Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Salters Chapel AME Church in Dyersburg with the Rev. Joe A. Scott officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery in Dyersburg. H.H. Hudson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
