Danny Allen Waller, 47, of Newbern, died Saturday, July 26, 2003 at the Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was maintenance supervisor for Newbern Housing Authority and retired from the U.S. Navy after serving as Chief Machinist Mate for 21 years. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Dyersburg Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fairview cemetery in Dyersburg. Visitation will be today at 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Evie Robbins Poor (07/28/03)
Evie Robbins Poor, 97, of Columbia, Tenn., formerly of Newbern, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003 in Columbia. She was a retired employee of Dyersburg Fabrics and a member of United Methodist Church in Newbern. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Sorrell's Chapel cemetery.

Mary E. Bennett, 73, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Newbern, died Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, Fla. She was a homemaker. A memorial service was held.

Charles William Hutching, 80, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, July 26, 2003 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was a retired employee of Reynolds Electric Engineering Company, a World War II Army veteran and a member of Junction Church of God. Services were held at 6 p.m. Sunday at Junction Church of God with the Rev. Kenny Chessor officiating. Burial was in Palm Valley View Memorial Park in Las Vegas. Curry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Shelby Jean Lee, 64, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at Oakwood Community Living Center. She was a homemaker and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Dyer County Memorial Gardens with the Rev. William Norman officiating. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Willie "Spooke" Jones, 69, of Ridgely, died Monday, July 28, 2003 at Ridgely Care Rehab Center. A memorial service was held Tuesday at Arrington Crematory in Jackson. H.H. Hudson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

James Utra Burton, 85, of Middleburg, Fla., formerly of Tiptonville, died Monday, July 28, 2003 in Middleburg. He was a theater owner, a Navy veteran and Pearl Harbor survivor. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in New Haven cemetery in Ridgely. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Johnnie Allmon Johnson, 62, of Newbern, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003 at her residence. She was a hairdresser and a member of Dyer County Hairdresser Association. Graveside services were at 10 a.m. today in Fairview cemetery in Newbern with the Rev. Waymon Hogue officiating. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Fred William Tippit Jr., 54, of Ridgely, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003 at his residence. He was a retired mechanic. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family will receive visitors at 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Ridgely chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Lynn King officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Garden.
