William "Buddy" Stallings, 87, of Lenox, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2003 at Veterans Hospital in Memphis. He was a retired painter, a U.S. Army veteran and POW of World War II and attended Lenox Church of God of Prophecy. Services were Sunday in the chapel of Curry Funeral Home in Dyersburg with the Rev. Jerry Robbins and Brother Melvin Rector officiating. Burial was in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

J.B. Simmons, 77, of Churchton, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003 at his residence. He was a farmer, a World War II veteran and a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Mount Carmel Methodist Church with the Rev. Perry Grills officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel cemetery. Karnes and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Hugh O. Finley (09/12/03)
Hugh O. Finley, 88, of Fairfax, Va., formerly of Finley, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003 at Fairfax Nursing Home. He was a scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Fairview cemetery with Dr. Phillip Cook officiating. Curry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jacqueline Tatum Duffey (09/12/03)
Jacqueline Tatum Duffey, 83, of Atlanta, Ga., formerly of Dyersburg, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003 in Atlanta. After living in Dyersburg for a number of years, Mr. and Mrs. Duffey moved to Montgomery, Ala. in 1957 and then to Atlanta in 1959 where they remained. She was active at Northside United Methodist Church in Atlanta.

Hamilton M. Bryant (09/12/03)
Hamilton M. Bryant, 83, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was a retired paymaster for Dyersburg Fabrics Inc., a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of East Dyersburg Methodist Church, a former choir director, Sunday school teacher, administrative board member, treasurer, Gideon and was active in lay missions and youth sports.

Rachel Kelsey Brown, 71, of Union City, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003 in Union City. She was a homemaker and a member of Union City Baptist Temple. Services were at 10 a.m. today at White-Ranson Funeral Home in Union City with the Rev. Mike Wells and the Rev. Chris Gouger officiating. Burial was in Old Republican cemetery in Union City.

Vera Mamie Martindale Barker, 75, of Friendship, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2003 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. She was a homemaker and farmer and a member of Pond Creek Methodist Church. Services were at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pond Creek Methodist Church with Brother Jeff Lohrstorfer and Brother Ralph Poston officiating. Burial was in Pond Creek cemetery. Friendship Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Edna Ruth Wells, 82, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in the chapel of Curry Funeral Home with the Rev. Leonard Ballinger officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

Thomas Edward Scobey, 79, of Springville, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003 at his residence. He was a retired employee of the State of Tennessee Highway Department and a member of Antioch United Methodist Church. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Parnell, the Rev. Nate Ozment and the Rev. Lilly Short officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

Danny Ray Crowell, 42, of Obion, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2003 in Caruthersville, Mo. He was a farmer. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cryer Funeral Home in Obion. Burial will be in Mount Moriah cemetery in Obion.

Louise Woolley Tickle, 81, of Jesup, Ga., died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003 in Jesup. She was a homemaker, she attended Jesup First United Methodist church, was a member of Bell's Landing Preservation Society of Hybart, Ala., and an executive assistant at the Pentagon from 1942-1956.

James Edward Pirtle (09/16/03)
James Edward Pirtle, 52, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003 at Mercy Medical Center. He was an employee of the packaging department of Spherion Inc. A memorial service was held Saturday at New Life Church of God in Christ with Pastor Pledge officiating. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids was in charge of arrangements.

Marquetta Bennett-Middlebrook, 45, of East St. Louis, Ill., died Wednesday, Sept. 10 at Belleville Memorial Hospital in East St. Louis. She was a former employee of General Electric. Services will be at noon today at Community Church of God in Christ with Elder Bobby Kenton officiating. Burial will be in New cemetery in Maury City. H.H. Hudson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Leona Moore Weaver, 91, of Friendship, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003 at Bells Nursing Home. She was a homemaker. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Friendship Funeral Home with the Rev. Eugene Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Bowen's Chapel cemetery.

He was a retired superintendent for Federal Compress & Warehouse in Brownsville, a member of Palestine United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post in Ripley and an Army veteran of World War II.

She was the retired co-owner of The Pantry Convenience Store and Deli, a member of First Baptist Church and a member of Women of the Moose. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fairview cemetery in Dyersburg with the Rev. Raymond Boston officiating.

Addie Jo Page, 87, of Tiptonville, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City. She was a retired cook from Boyette's Dining Room. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Tiptonville chapel of Curry Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Council and the Rev. Leon Elder officiating. Burial will be in Cobb's Chapel cemetery in Hornbeak.
