Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Jones Street Church of Christ in Newbern with Brother W.O. Armstead officiating. Burial will be in MCCO cemetery in Newbern.

Evelyn Walpole Patterson, 68, of Halls, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at Haywood Park Hospital in Brownsville. She was a homemaker and a member of Poplar Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Halls Funeral Home. Burial will be in Halls cemetery.

James Henry Cheshier (07/19/04)
James Henry Cheshier, 88, of Halls died Friday, July 16, 2004 at BMH-Tipton. He was the former manager of Dyer Lumber Company and a co-owner of Friendship Funeral Home in Friendship. He was a Mason, a member of the Halls First United Methodist Church and the Methodist Men's Club and for two terms served as mayor of Halls, 1973 to 1974 and 1981 to 1983.

Ophelia Lucille Pride, 77, of Jackson, formerly of Dyersburg, died Thursday, July 15, 2004, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist denomination. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with burial to follow in Fairview cemetery in Dyersburg. The Rev. Bill Phipps will officiate.

Willard Herbert Robbins, 77, of Dyersburg died Saturday, July 17, 2004, at his residence. He was self-employed at the Southtown Flea Market. He was a Dyer County Constable for 18 years and a member of the Southside Assembly of God. Graveside services took place at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Sorrells Chapel cemetery. The Rev. Lynn Drumwright will officiate. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bertha T. Watts, 77, of Memphis, formerly of Trimble, died Friday, July 16, 2004, at St. Peter Villa. She retired from Hohenberg Brothers Cotton Company. She was a member of the Graham Heights Baptist Church. Funeral services took place on Monday, July 19 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Family Funeral Care with burial to follow in the National cemetery.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Brother James Hooper officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens in Dyersburg.

LaVern Siler Barker, 90, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, July 15, 2004, at Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla. She was a retired chief telephone operator for Southern Bell/BellSouth and a member of First Christian Church in Dyersburg. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Friendship Funeral Home. Burial will be in Friendship cemetery.

Homer R. Byars, 69, of Halls, died Sunday, July 18, 2004, at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was a retired maintenance worker for U.S. Steel and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Dyersburg.

Gertrude Sanders, 94, of Ripley, died Sunday, July 18, 2004, at Ripley Healthcare & Rehab. She was a housewife and a member of Ripley First Baptist Church. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Garner Funeral Home in Ripley. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant cemetery.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Pentecostal Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Jackie Wilkerson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Humboldt.

He was a retired schoolteacher with the Davidson County School System and a Methodist. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sunnyside cemetery in Kenton with Dennis Watts officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was a homemaker, a retired rural mail carrier in Macon and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Macon. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Macon City cemetery with the Rev. Dan Tilly, her son-in-law, officiating. Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was the retired executive vice president of First State Bank in Henderson. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, at Henderson Church of Christ with Ben Flatt, Joe Williams and John Rickard officiating. Burial will follow in the Henderson City cemetery.
